𝜗 𓈒 ( Personality ) - Teruteru is not someone who is usually missed, being both a shameless pervert and also a flirt. He has a lewd sense of humor, and delights turning even the briefest of conversations into constant innuendos. He struggles to filter his thoughts around people his age, often making people around him uncomfortable, but being himself... he thrives on the attention he receives from it.

Beneath his more dramatic behavior, Hanamura is actually very warm-hearted, as well as a little sensitive. Cooking is his passion, and he finds genuine joy in what he does, usually preparing meals without a fuss. He puts love into each dish (and probably his jizz bro idk) and takes pride in being able to comfort others through it. His talent is tied to his family, and it's one of few things about him that may not be wrapped in lies.

Often, Teruteru has a bad habit of lying, presenting himself as a sophisticated city boy chef rather than a fry cook. He hides his accent, and all means that could point back to his real history, as he's very dismissive of who he really is. Only during moments of stress and anger does his "real self" slip through and he seems to be frustrated by it.

While he dreams of a life of success and fun, his heart is still tied to his humble beginnings and his family diner. His passion often gets clouded by arrogance and judgement though, even if he usually has good intentions. Being insecure, it creates a complex personality and a very brash surface, but underneath he's rather dedicated and heartfelt.

𝜗 𓈒 ( Backstory ) - Teruteru grew up in a quiet countryside town, helping his family run a small business from a young age. The diner was constantly under pressure by larger chain restaurants and rivals, and he learned what humble upbringings were early on. His mother was extremely frail, and on top of it sick as could be, but despite that she was determined to keep working despite her health. Hanamura's promise to her was always that he'd open more stylish restaurants up in the city after he was done studying for his talent, and that dream might have been one of the things that helped her keep going.

Luckily, these hardships are often what give Hanamura so much passion and determination today. He wanted to create a future where his mother didn't have to work so hard anymore, and he'd do just about anything to achieve it. His dream became more than just a hopeful wish, it instead shaped all his motives. When Hope's Peak Academy had enrolled him, it was only just the beginning... though it was a hard decision to leave his mom behind in the process. Something that took weeks of talking through, and her pushing him to chase his dreams instead of worrying so much about her and her work.

The truth was, he wasn't exactly used to city life, but as he found himself adapting he chose to center himself around it. He practiced a more sophisticated tone, and took on the persona of someone who was... French(?) He rather people know him as someone who was strong and arrogant rather than a weaker, more struggling country boy. His performance became second nature, and often he even struggled to remember what all was reality and what wasn't. The facade was a little exhausting at times, but luckily the fake personality he perused wasn't too far off from his true feelings, though the backstory he had created for himself was stretched from the truth.

Additionally, along with his inappropriate behavior, his lewdness stems from a history of sexual abuse and a rather troublesome past with teachers and classmates. Though this doesn't exactly excuse his present self, it's something he is quiet about, and has been since he was a child, he still really isn't sure if what all happened to him was okay or not.

Despite all the lies, it's true that he has a huge knowledge for all kinds of foods and flavors, knowing different techniques just about as much as the back of his hand. When he cooks for others there is a noticeable change in behavior, as his flirty behavior even fades away. Teruteru personally believes that food can convey more than what his words can.

The most important thing to him though has always been family. He is fiercely protective of it in fact, and can lose his temper when they are put in a dangerous light that he himself did not put them in. His diner, his mother, and food itself are the most important threads of his character, even if he likes to dismiss it.
