background information
The old near universal language of Antiochian (Antiócheias) has largely been replaced by the language of the Syndeonians across most of the nation. It still holds out in regions close to the Empire of Antiocheia as the dominate tongue but has even fallen out of favour with the nobility, who have switched to the tongues of their people.
In the north, the Ayakaioi (Ayakkayolians) have largely assimilated to the tongues of the former masters of the land, accepting most of their words but adopted the (name) alphabet instead of the traditional Antiochian alphabet.
The Zečevi people lay to the south of them along the coast. Their separatism and Pippa supremacism compelled them to adopt the (blank) alphabet used by the Ayakaioi and others.
The Sindeoni dominate the centre of the Empire and give its name, which comes from a bastardized version of the Antiochian word "Connect", Syndeon. They use the common alphabet of their brethren to the north (blank). They share the same language many ways with the Zečevi.
The Kaloyani, relatives of the Sindeoni, inhabit the south-centre of the Empire and speak their own separate language known as Kaloyanski, which is much closer to the tongue of their northern ancestors.
The most unique group of all are the Mauntebi, who inhabit the northern mountains of the Empire along the Artavan border. They are old peoples in this land that did not abandon their language, but instead converted to the religion of their new masters.
