No Vagina? It's Not Futanari

What's the point? TL;DR

We are asking you to use the futanari tag correctly. If the character does not have a vagina, then it is not futanari. Call it a dickgirl, trans, newhalf, whatever, but don't call it futanari. What is a futanari?

Futanari (ă”ăŸăȘり) translates to dual form. A futanari is a being with both male and female genitalia. The typical depiction is a female futanari, a female appearance with a penis above her vagina. The majority will have external testicles between the penis and vagina, but internal testicles are also common. Sometimes the clitoris becomes a penis. Actual reproduction is not always explored in futanari artwork, but a futanari should be capable of both being impregnated and impregnating. There are also male futanari, a male appearance with a vagina behind their penis. When futanari are referenced in this text, assume it's a female futanari unless male futanari is specified.

If it's not futanari, what is it?

Here are some possible terms to describe your character:

Dickgirl

  • A "girl" with a penis. Includes female futanari and female-presenting males.

Shemale, Ladyboy, Newhalf

  • Pornographic term or slang for a male who attempts to appear female while keeping their penis. Shemale is western and the others are eastern. Usually makes permanent changes to their body with surgery.

Trans

  • A person who doesnt identify with their birth sex. May or may not attempt to change their body, clothing, and genitals to the opposite sex.

Femboy

  • Androgynous male who attempts to appear feminine without surgery, still identifies male. Usually keeps short hair.

Drag Queen, Crossdresser, Transvestite

  • A male who dresses in female clothing, still identifies male. Usually wears wigs and makeup.

Trap

  • A male who appears feminine, could be a crossdresser or femboy posted online with intent to deceive.

Cuntboy

  • A "boy" with a vagina. Includes male futanari and male-presenting females.

Intersex, Hermaphrodite

  • A person born with malformed genitalia, including parts from both sexes. Usually have a functional set that matches their chromosomes and a non-functional underdeveloped set.

What is the problem?

People and the software that learns from us include characters which are female-presenting males as futanari. An example of a female-presenting male would be a shemale, newhalf, dickgirl, ladyboy, or trans-identified male. All those terms imply a person who was born a male, but has a feminine appearance. The feminine appearance can be obtained by drugs, magic, birth defect, hormonal abnormality, surgery, or other means. They may have breasts, long hair, or wide hips, but in between their legs, there are only the male genitals. The problem is that there is no vagina. If there is no vagina, it is not futanari. If the character only has the genitalia of a single sex, it can't be a futanari because futanari have both. The same thing applies to a cuntboy, trans-identified female, or otherwise male-presenting female. Since there is no penis, it is not a futanari.

How did it get this way?

  • Futanari only exist in fiction. Intersex people are not the same as they do not have both complete sexual reproductive systems like futanari.
  • There is often confusion when it comes to drawings about whether or not a character is a futanari since the vagina can be hidden by the testicles. If you are looking at a futanari with external testicles from above waist level, it is impossible to see the vagina.
  • In real life, a "girl with a dick" is either a trans-identifying male or crossdresser, this can lead people to consider futanari as a virtual representation of a trans instead of something independent though visually similar.
  • A significant portion of futanari fans are submissives and there are many stories where the futanari penetrates the man, but the futanari is never penetrated.
  • Trans-identified males using the term to describe themselves.
  • Some fans do not care about the distinction.

Why does it matter?

People who enjoy futanari are interested in both male and female genitalia, they don't want the term to include characters that only have male genitals. There are many other terms for "girl with a dick" and they should be used instead. No one is trying to ban or censor those characters, we just want everyone to find what they want.

What about a woman who was born with a penis?

Being a woman necessitates being born with ovaries. To be a female is to be the sex that gives birth. You may call it a "girl" with a penis and you may say it's fictional, but without a vagina it's just a male who looks female. A futanari must have both sets of genitals whether they are born with them or grow them later. If the character is born with only a penis and testicles, then it is a man, even if he has a female appearance. If we were to design a character and called him a femboy, but gave him breasts and a vagina in place of a penis, then the label of femboy is incorrect. A femboy should be male and have a penis. A woman should have a vagina and a futanari should have both.

What about a woman who grows a penis?

If a woman grows a penis in addition to her vagina, she becomes a futanari. If the penis replaces the vagina, then it is a sex change and the woman would be a male or dickgirl. In order to transform a woman into a futanari, it would require the woman to grow a penis in addition to their vagina, not replace it.

What about an alien or animal species?

An alien or animal species that has a sex resembling a human female with breasts and such, but having only a penis is not a futanari. Even non-humans need to have both reproductive systems. If it only has one sexual organ, it can't be futanari. If that one organ is a penis, it's male.

Why do you care so much?

This is a common thing to argue about on the Internet, so this short text was written. What a futanari is has been complicated because the tag is often misused. This text is unnecessary to read past the title, but it was written because you care. Otherwise, you would agree that a futanari has a vagina and move on.

"It's just fantasy."

This is not an argument. We create different terms to describe different things. Labels help us identify and categorize things. If you wanted a work about two girls kissing, then you would search for lesbian or yuri. If upon opening the work you found only men kissing, the mislabeling would cause confusion or frustration. The difference between a dickgirl and a futanari is as significant as the difference between a man and a woman. We should use the correct labels so that everyone can find what they want.

"Futanari having a vagina is a sub-genre."

There are no other terms for a person with both complete sets of sexual organs except for futanari. It has a specific meaning. However, there are plenty of terms for a "girl with a dick" which can be used. Futanari is the sub-genre that requires a vagina. Trans or dickgirl should be used instead if there is no vagina.

"You only care about the dick."

We care about both the dick and the vagina. The whole purpose of this text is to say that the vagina is important to us. Maybe you are projecting because you yourself are only interested in the dick.

"Language evolves."

There's no evolution here, you are conflating futanari and dickgirl/shemale/etc for nefarious purposes. You realize futanari is a more popular tag than shemale/trans so you tag it incorrectly for more views. You want to insert shemale/trans into futanari for validation. This isn't evolution, it's a hostile takeover. If you don't care about the vagina, use dickgirl.

What should I do?

  • If you were linked this text for misusing the futanari tag, then use a different the tag or change your art to fit with the tag.
  • If you are a fan of futanari and are tired of the tag being abused, link this text where it is misused.
  • If you are creating a visual work that features futanari make sure to show the vagina when possible so it's clear that it is a futanari.
  • If you are creating a chatbot that is a futanari make sure to include the vagina in the definition. The LLM may include training data that is poisoned and during roleplay the model may reply that the character has no vagina.
