A complete view of the witches of the Rishamate in /risu/

The witches exist for a multiple of reasons. They are there to serve as guards for the temple of Risu. They use 2 methods for this. The first method is regular guards armed with grape blaster staffs who execute anyone that is not a selected or chosen person. No exceptions. The other method is through myth. Risuner children are brought up and taught about the exclusion zone from a very young age. This myth is of course proven true to any that are stupid enough to attempt to pass through this zone. Trespassers who are shot are simply either disintegrated or their bodies are used for experimentation.

While their main job is being temple guards, they also have another purpose. Witches happen to be great with magical affinity and are given the purpose of studying magic. They act as a secret research organization where many experiments are performed, mainly on prisoners of war. Ghazis in particular are commonly chosen to be experimented on and when there is no longer a need for them they are simply hung on a wall and used as target practice for the grape blaster wielding guards. None have ever made it out alive.

Witches are naturally very good at making nuts. Their magic allows them to grow nuts extremely fast and elders trade gems for nuts with them. This is why gems are so prized among risuners. The most common exchange between them
Each witch has their own village to conduct their operations. These villages are of course high in the trees like many other risuner villages and climbing is required to access it. This acts as another defense mechanism to prevent foreign infiltration. Aside from with witch, the village they reside in also have risuners that each have their special purpose. Risuners that focus on food, security, trading, finance, research, storage tracking, etc. Mole-Risuners have their own network of tunnels within each village that begins inside one of the megatrees and goes all the way down. These caverns are where the gemtrees are grown.

On occasion, witches do communicate with each other. They commonly trade their knowledge in accordance to gems and talk about the events of the world outside. They obtain this information by sending out risuners to go out in the cities for an extended period of time and then have them return with information of current events so as to not keep out of touch.

The witches ultimate goal is to ensure that nobody reaches the temple of Risu while also making sure that gem magic will benefit the nation. The power of gemtrees will ensure this, but it will take about 50 years due to fact that gemtrees grow at the same rate as regular trees. for each gem used for for making a tree, 5 gems are created after a gemtree reaches full growth. Each gem that is used will decrease the long term gain and only delay the future of gems being commonly used. So witches have to be careful and play a game of logistics. They dont want to neglect the risuners now but they also dont want to wait too long for their future to be a reality.
