Chevaliers de la Rose

Image description "Par la Croix de Rose Nous Conquérons tous" Motto of the Order

The strangest aberration that exists in the lands of the rosebutas is the that of the humans who live there. No one truly knows where they came from or why the Rosebutas accept them, although there are theories on that will be discussed later. But regardless of that, they are rightfully feared the ruthless, cruel and bloodthirsty warriors that they are.

Potential Origins

It is suspected that these men come from a similar stock as Rosenknospe, and this is the widely accepted theory amongst historians. They both speak a similar language and have similar appearances. However, their culture could not be more different, which is why this origin story is questionable. Another possibility is that they have always lived their current lands and adopted Rosemi as their Goddess when the Rosebutas came. They also could be of Schizostock, which fits their behavior to a degree but is an incomplete answer. Perhaps the answer is a combination of the three.

Acceptance by Rosebutas Theory

For a race of non-Plants, it is most curious as to why these men are accepted by Rosebutas and even are idolized by them as heros, a sacred order in a way. This is atypical of Rosebutas, who want every non-plant humanoid to become a plant. The traditional story that has been told is that the Rosebutas fought many times against them, and that eventually both sides sent forth their strongest fighter to decide whether they should be allowed to stay or not.

The Chevaliers sent for Odo de La Garanderie while the Rosebutas sent a massive Boar that was 10 feet tall. The boar mocked Odo for being so small, but the Knight did not response and blocked the attacks of the boar with his shield. He then managed an extrodinary feet by knocking the boar to the ground with a bash from his shield that was said to have broken it into pieces before standing over the boar and thrusting his sword into its heart. He then bit into its neck and screamed "ROSEMI!"

According to this legend, the Rosebutas asked the Chevaliers to protect them against the Babirusas and invaders from other lands, which the bloodthirst Knights happily accepted. The deal the two shares to this day is that the Knights will protect the Rosebutas on the border lands, and capture slaves for conversion if they are allowed to be recognized as a proper Rosebuds and that they be allowed to keep some of the slaves for their own personal services.

We truly do not know if this story is true or not, Odo is a historical figure kept in the records of the Chevaliers, but it is likely an exaggeration of the truth, which is that these men were accepted because they couldn't be driven out.

Culture

The Chevaliers are one of the more bloodthirst sects I have encountered in this world. They revel in the wicked acts they commit against their human brethren, whom they personally consider subhuman. The Chevaliers are a male dominated, warrior order. For example, Chevaliers are known to take many "wives" from the captured women they enslave and having children with them. All female children are sent off to be converted to RoseButas while the males are trained from birth in becoming warriors. They have no regard for humanity beyond their own order brothers and truthfully see RoseButas themselves as more of their equals than any living Human.

Drinking from the skull of a slain enemy is a sacred tradition amongst the Order, and all "cups" in the order are just hollowed out human skulls. They love to take part in the pleasures of life, wine and women but are still very serious about the own code which is as follows

There is no God but Rosemi-Sama
All heathens must perish, be enslaved or converted
All loot must be split equally
Every brother shall act towards each other with love and kindness
There is no better way to love your brother than to die for him
In every pleasure to be enjoyed, there must also be temperance and training
Women have no rights other than to bear our children.
A brother shall not sleep with another brother's concubine or wife.
All disputes between brothers must be handled civilly
A Coward is no better than a dead man.
The word of the Matriarch remains supreme
Authority must be respected, and Authority must respect others
Homosexuality between brothers is forbidden
Anyone who violates these principles shall be sentenced to death by burning.

Other notable parts of their culture and society: -The very martial focused culture has bred these men into some of the best lancers and swordsmen in the world.
-Before every battle, a prayer is said towards Rosemi asking for victory.
-The Order has built magnificent castles that are spread across the border lands, each Castle has a Commandant assign to it by the Grand Master, who is based in the main castle of Krak des Chevaliers-Rose
-Jousting and swordplay are a popular past time

Warfare

The Knights are well known as fighters, but how do they fight when the world around them changes? They wear armor than is near impossible for bullets to penetrate except from under 20 yards that they wear all over their bodies and on their horses during major battles. During raids, they were simply chainmail. Their horses are strong and powerful, capable of carrying the men, their weapons and the armor both them and their horses' wear. The Knights also carry two pistols that they strap to their horses that they use when they feel it is necessary. The Knights also fight almost exclusively on horseback unless it is absolutely necessary to dismount. Chuubanite and Rosestone are used to increase the power of their swords, crossbows (which they use in castle defense) and lances.

Economy

The entire economy is based off of looting and slave labor. All food, all luxury goods, all minerals, everything comes from slave labor. Slaves are treated brutally by the Order but not to the point of death because they so greatly needed. They are well fed and clothed for slaves, but that is solely to maximize their usefulness to the order.
