Teruma Arakawa

teruma

Archetype: Rebellious (Set 2: Forward, Geeky, Stubborn)
Perks:

Martial Arts
Social Skills
Great Beauty
Goth

2:

Weebo (Geeky+Martial Arts)
Martial Knowledge extracted from... anime, of all places. He fights with the skill and flow of a character you see in a show. Although he lacks the physical skill to pull off acrobatics and feats of physical power, he compensates with skill and sheer passion for anime and manga.

Super High Level Nag (Goth+Social Skills)
A great ability to find opening in everything someone does, from the way they talk, to the the way they breath. There is nothing the user can't find a fault on other people. Worse, they know to verbalize, how to project an aura of such utter disappointment that it can mentally damage others with psychic damage, such is the power of their nag, just like a disappointed mom. On another hand, it also comes in hand to teach other people, by identifying their flaws, and thinking of ways to solve them, so they can get better.

Course of Action (Forward+Stubborn):
A skill developed due to the lack of a vision in one's eye. It allows one to see the path ahead clearly, even in combat or in a dangerous situation, and not only see the path ahead, but force the body to keep up with the stress and actions needed to fulfill said path, allowing for great feats of physical and mental endurance, even at the cost of exhausting one's body.

3-C:

SHSL Onna-Musha (Social Skill+Great Beauty+Martial Arts):
A set of particular skills he learned through the humiliation forced, and by studying a late master's katas and teachings left behind. It is the knowledge of not only how to properly act in public with great decency, worth of a Yamata Nadeshiko, but also the skill to hone martial prowess to its best, to protect others with unmatched beauty and skill, like a princess and a warrior rolled into one harmony.

Items:

Ceremonial Clothings: Arguably the only good thing his fellow discipline gave him, even if the kimono he has gotten is a feminine one, but still, as the only good thing he has given Teruma, Teruma still somewhat cherishes it, as bitter sweet as this article of clothing truly is.
Club Membership 2x: He is the Captain of the Housekeeping Club, the Club that oversees the dorms, arcades, and other facilities for students, both those who live at Higan, and those who just uses them. They focus on keeping the places tidy and clean, the status of the buildings, what is in need of repair, the healthy, physical or mental of students, and much more. As the captain of the Club, Teruma can utilize a dorm room as his.

His Idolon, Sombra. Sombra is everything Teruma wants to be, self-confident, with a strong sense of self, and who he is, who doesn't backdown or doubt the worth of his actions. While Teruma can stand up for others, especially when he feels injustice is happening before him, he cannot stand up for himself, lacking the strength to fight, the will to proceed and fight for himself.

However, Sombra has all of that in spades, as well as the personality to go down and brawl if he feels something is worth it. He cares for Teruma, and often bruteforces his control over Teruma's body to protect him from stressful situations and pinches, which sadly, are often, since because Teruma finds no worth in himself, he tends to fumble his words, and actions when something is about himself, or taking care about himself, forcing Sombra to step in and take the reigns of the body.

Backstory

Due to the Onguuchi overwhelming presence, and network, and resources, they were able to overtake or put out of work most dojos in Kageoka, this included the one of Teruma's grandfather.

Although not his real grandfather, the man took him in, and trained Teruma in the art of the blade, raising him as his own grandson, most to his actual son's dismay.

Before that, Teruma was homeless, a vagrant without home or place to go and was very grateful to the hand that was extended to him.

However, the Old Man's son was not appeased to it. He held deep bitterness towards the Onguuchi, especially Madoka's father, who ended up with the woman he wanted to marry in highschool.

But, the son was not a kind man, nor a good one. He held deep and fuming grudges towards the Onguuchi, wanting to settle the score, win against them for taking out their dojo.

While nominally there, the Onguuchi took away all of their prospective students, effectively making the dojo decay and slowly die, with just him and his father as members of it. The son didn't believed his father should've taken Teruma in, much less go through the trouble of training him, as he was nothing but a vagrant, and one without skill at that. He believed they should focus on honing his skill more, so the son could defeat the golden child of the Onguuchi with overwhelming power.

However, his father didn't believed in that. He saw the decay and slow death of his dojo as natural outcomes. He couldn't defeat the Onguuchi because of their resources and network, despite his great skill and long life, so defeat was honourable, and the outcome they had to accept. They were beaten, and should take defeat with grace.

That instance only fueled his son's bitterness even more.

This continued until a tournament was held, where Teruma faced the best student the Onguuchi Dojo had to offer, which was not Madoka, as the girl had given up swordsmanship months prior to the tournament. In that fight, Teruma showed absolute dominance and took out the student with ease in the finals.

But rather than a triumphant victory and cheers, he was met with doubtful whispers and slander. "If only Madoka was there."

"He won against a third-rate fighter"

"If only the true heir was there..."

"He isn't that skillful"

"Those bastards hadn't even sent their best student to face us! The audacity!"

"Truly a shame our granddaughter was so stubborn. She could've won this with ease."

The last words were said by the Onguuchi patriarch, Madoka's grandfather.

Those words aggravated the son, who then attacked Madoka's grandfather. The assault led with charges, which them went to the court. The honor and name of the now decaying dojo was tarnished and hurting.

Teruma's grandfather noticed that Teruma was receiving ill-looks, spite in vengeful eyes, those who held the Onguuchi with great regard leered towards an innocent boy.

And worse, his son was now in his way to jail.

His honor as their mentor was tarnished, and damaged.

But the old man had a way to fix things.

To save the honor of the dojo.

Save his grandson from a life of ostracism. Being an outcast.

And maybe, with some luck, diminish his son's sentence.

Teruma's grandfather committed suicide by seppuku, all the way through. Slicing his belly and chest open. At the time, the news were shattering, and staggered even the Onguuchi, but his gamble worked. His adopted grandson stopped being chased and receiving leers, and his son managed to stay free for a few months, before being taken to jail.

It took a while for his son to be thrown in Jail, so he used the time to abuse Teruma while he had time. He hated the boy, he hated how he suddenly became his father's favorite, and how he was taught, how he was loved, and how he wasted their time. Without his father to protect him anymore, the son abused the boy, humiliated him, shamed him when no one could see it, as to not aggravate his sentence any more.

He forced Teruma to dress up as a girl and forcing the role of a Yamata Nadeshiko upon him, to humiliate and emasculate the boy, make him suffer doing shores, washing dishes, cleaning after messes, with the son made worse so Teruma had little to no free time, he made the boy's life hell, and just hadn't made it worse because slowly people began to watch over Teruma, in fear of the son abusing him, after purple marks, and a blinded eye, appeared suddenly after one day.

After some months, the son was thrown in jail, and the boy managed to pass by by the skin of his teeth, living alone and consuming copious amounts of old manga and VHS to cope with his situation and the empty dojo, and some spare change he was donated by his neighbors out of pity.

The son was eventually let out of Jail, and used the chance to abuse the boy some more and humiliate him, before suddenly vanishing three years ago. Now, the grandson is set to find his late grandpa's son.

Which he hates.

If he is still human, and alive, he will take him back to the dojo, as to not hurt his grandpa even after death.

If he is not human... Teruma will fix the issue with his fellow Dojo-member, permanently.

As of now, Teruma is a somewhat shy boy, who swaps places with his Idolon, Sombra, when he gets too nervous or on the verge of a breakdown, letting his much cooler headed and composed Idolon take the brunt of interactions and what aggravated him.

Because of the abuse he suffered, Teruma is extremely dutiful, and won't back down to protect others from abuse, even while under threats to his image or physical integrity. He is sworn to do good, and be a good person, and for that blade he will die, to make sure others don't suffer, to make sure that abusers don't go unpunished. For that reason, he shot to become the Captain of the Housekeeping Club, to make sure nothing ill befalls or fester the school dormitories.
