Royal Navy of Kanaruca

Summary

Seafaring, and sailing have always been part of the spirit of the peoples that make up Kanaruca to some degree. The Kingdom itself depends on trade and has constantly faced great struggles for its very survival over the years from numerous threats: from the Maitoyl, to Moriji, and the Agnamis. Yet, not only has it survived, but thrived under this pressure. It has been said that the state's survival is a testament to the skill of the Kanarucans sailors and admirals. But the fact that she has not only survived, but thrived has given much credit towards the claim that it is not the Deadbeats nor the Maitoyl and not even the self-proclaimed "Rulers of the Sea" the Shrimps; but that Kanarcucans are the greatest sailors in all of the Alivirian Sea.

Brief History of the Navy

Overview

The Kralevsca Mornarica Kanaruca, or KM for simplicity, is the pride of Kanarcua; the sword and shield of the very people of the lands themselves which protects and asserts the power of Kanarcua on the world stage.

Goals

Ensure that the Kingdom's survival and prosperity.
Assert the power and influence of the Kingdom on the world stage.
'Morago Delende Est' Revenge against the Black Fleet and to humiliate them completely like they have never been before
- It is not the conquest, nor destruction of Moriji itself, nor even the Black Fleet as a major fleet, but rather bringing them to their knees and forcing them to not only accept the KM as their equals, gaining favourable terms over disputes the two nations have.
The Protection of the friends of the Kingdom.
Establishing at long last, "our place in the sun".

Doctrine

The Navy holds several tenants under one key axim as crucial for its success in its long-term goals:

The Navy must focus on quality as a whole. All of these will be discussed at length below.
- Better Ships.
- Better Sailors.
- Better Officers on all levels.
- Better Tactics.
- Willingness to innovate.
- Better Strategy.
- Greater use of Naval Intelligence.

All of these realisations came from the repeated failures as mentioned above, and thus to the KM, are the natural solution.

Better Ships
This comes in a variety of forms which include:

Uniformity in Ship Designs and Classes (that will be built in mass.)
Better construction techniques and materials that will maximize effectiveness of each ship on an individual level.
Refitting of old vessels to meet new standards or the breaking up of those vessels that do not meet the current standard.

Furthermore, the willingness to experiment with new ideas for ships must also take place.

Better Sailors

The training of sailors in the many roles that can be found on a ship are more regular and consistent. From gunnery to practices involving damage control, the goal is that the individual sailor will be better overall. Furthermore, better rations, quarters, and pay are also provided.

Better officers on all level

The establishment of Naval Colleges, and the reform of the existing ones to fit the modern art of war have been undertaken. Greater availability to lower classes to these institutions has been provided, and an emphasis on a meritocratic system based around each commander earning their post and said officer being well versed in all situations and being encouraged to show their own initiative in decision making.

Better Tactics

Tactically, great encouragement has been given to aggressiveness within battles and unorthodox approaches to combat. 'Breaking the Line' is considered to be an ideal tactic for most line combat situations, where the training of the men and initiative of captains will be able to utterly crush their foes at close range. But furthermore, the Fleet should be unpredictable in how it conducts itself.

Willingness to innovate

The willingness to innovate can be seen on all levels of this overall, but it also includes the constant willingness to progress Naval Science, and the willingness to invest into research heavily. There should never be a time when the Navy is unwilling to not innovate in some regard, on some level. Constant improvement is a constant goal.

Better Strategy
The stubborn mindset of the past must be eliminated, and a new strategic perspective must be adopted. The overall strategic doctrine revolves around three basic ideas.

Force Concentration is critical for the tactical success of the Navy. The spreading of Naval assets, in particular, ships of the line, must be avoided and key forces must be established so that when the Navy strikes, it strikes with as much power as possible.
Guerre de course, in the event of war, must be applied by both armed merchants and frigates against enemy trade. Deep strikes far from home are essential to stretch enemies thin.
All strategy and operations must be based upon Naval Intelligence and adapting to the given situation with the appropriate strategy. War plans must be drafted and constantly updated against all nations that can be considered a threat to Kanaruca on any level.

Greater use of Naval Intelligence
In the past, the Navy had a rather poor use of intelligence and espionage within its command. This flaw had cost the fleet great victories several times, and the Navy aims to ensure that they will be one of the best, if not the best major fleet in the world to use Naval Intelligence to their advantage. Through direct contracts with VII, networks reporting on foreign navies as a whole: From the number of ships at a station, to the very officers that command them, and their supplies are being calculated and constantly updated. Furthermore, greater forms on Encryption and National Security have been applied to the KM itself, with secrets being well hidden thanks to the new code book and the services of VII.

Composition

The KM is divided into four main divisions: Home Fleet, Kizunican Fleet, Scouting Fleet, and the most important of all, the Battle Fleet. Of note should be that each of these forces, aside from the Kizunican, are largely interchangable given the circumstances.

The Home Fleet, as its name indicates, is mostly concerned with the protection of Kanaruca itself. Most of the ships that are part of this fleet are out of date, and this is generally considered to be the "retirement home" of old admirals and ships.

The Kizunican Fleet operates from bases in the south Kizuna Sea and is a relatively powerful force that aims to protect Kanarucan interests in this region, as well as interdict hostile fleets in the event of war. (This fleet is mostly a concept.)

The Scouting Fleet operates across the Ailivian Sea and is largely composed of frigates and lighter ships. It's role, as it's name suggests, is scouting, but it also serves the role of escort too. In the event of war, it will also engage in raiding as well.

The Battle Fleet is concentrated in Kanaruca itself, with some detachments in Deuxlunesia too. It is made up of the most powerful and modern ships in the fleet. It's aim is to bring about the destruction of any enemy in the event of war through battle and blockade.
