Desu Wa! On to Tsukiyama!

A massive crowd gathered outside Ichikara that cold day to listen to the words of the great prophet. Standing on a podium, dressed in his black Kimono and with an enchanting light blazing in his eyes, Tsunatatsu Ashikaga looked before the multitude before him. He bowed his head in prayer to Salome, then arose with a tongue filled with fire to deliver what all had gathered to hear:

"O great and noble race of the Tsukijin, whom many look upon with admiration and fear, your many deeds shine bright in the celestial sky! The wicked plot your demise, but you will stand strong as you always have. From you, many of the great things of the world have been bestowed upon us, and the Kami have rewarded you thrice the times for it. We live in a beautiful land; A prosperous land, and a holy land. The Kami walk with us each day, and guide us justly in our lives. Surely, then you must also hear the echo uttered from them which calls you to an even greater deed than they have asked of you before.

The holy city of Tsukiyama, from where the Great Iinchou created this world, has been destroyed as you all know. The Western Capital of our great people has been raped, plundered and turned into a center of wickedness by the hands of the Shùzì and Horosumu. They mock us with their defiling her sacred vestiges, turning her holy gardens into pens for their hogs and using her consecrated temples as brothels for their sin! These crimes against the Kami and our people must not go unpunished! The city blest by Iinchou cries out in agony, her maidenhood robbed and her pain immense. I heard these cries when I was just a child, before anyone knew of her fate, and I will not stand idly by anymore!

Many times, I have petitioned the Shoguns to relieve her, and all times rejected. But the holy mission granted to me shall not be stopped by the mere words of them! No, it is to his Imperial Majesty I hath called upon, and in his divineness, he granted me this. Shows a paper high above to the crowd. This, my noble friends, is a declaration. It is a declaration from his Imperial Majesty declaring to not only me, but all of you, our mission! A Seisen, he hath declared, to liberate the holy city!

My true brothers! The time has finally come for my mission to get under way, and I offer you to join me in this glorious task which Our Lady has given me. For what she hath told me is that the forgiveness of all impurities and sins shall be granted to those that take up the moon. Thus, with great pride I say this. Desu Wa! On to Tsukiyama! Come forward, noble Tsukijins! Take up both the moon and the scorpion with me and we shall triumph over evil!"

At once, the crowd burst into chanting "Desu Wa! On to Tsukiyama!". It could be heard from miles away and would be a call that would echo around the world soon enough. For this speech was not only the start of the First Seisen but signified the birth of a nation. Many more would join, and many more would support the movement as it made its way from Ichikara to Suzuhara. This whole speech has become immortalized in literature and plays ever since then, becoming one of the most legendary speeches in the history of the world.
