With sensei kicking up his feet and chillaxing to the max in the classroom, Yaso does the same, sleepily keeping only one eye faintly open while the other students go through their introductions. He’d been up all night watching QuirkTok videos and playing Heroes of Tokyo Drift. Slacker teacher is total boners. Stretching his arms and yawning, Yasu doesn’t hear when Smokin’ Sexy calls his name.

“Alright,” sensei clicks his pen and leans down over the attendance sheet. “Absent on the first day. What a way to go.” Fortunately for Yasu, sensei’s pen scratches uselessly against the paper, the ink inside dried out. “Seriously? I just got this thing.”

“Eh?” confused nobody’s name was called, Yasu swings his feet down and sits up. “Who’s s’posed to be going up?” he asks the boy next to him, with the feathers on his head. There’s something weird about him, but the necessary neurons to care about the off-putting aura have long since been burned out by terminal goonerism.

“Ah, is Iwata Yasu,” the snake-guy answers.

“Whoa, that’s me,” casually, Yasu gets up from his chair and stretches his back, going to the front of the room just as Smokin’ Sexy-sensei finally finds a pen that works. “Hey sensei no worries, I’m here. Just been sleeping really bad lately, you know? Nerves about school stuff.” Sounding anything but nervous, he gets up in front of the class and yawns loudly, picking his ear. “Ey. Name’s Iwata Yasu. I can see through walls and stuff. Total sidekick material, yaah? I look forward to being one of yours’ groupies someday.”

“Don’t forget one of the surveys,” sensei reminds, as Yasu is about to go back to his seat.

“Oh yaah, right,” he grabs one and sits back down, swinging his feet up and setting the paper on his lap. As he tries to write against the backdrop of his legs and pants, his pencil pokes through the paper multiple times, and he eventually starts just writing lighter, to the point where his penmanship is atrocious and barely legible on top of multiple misspellings due to his dyslexia.
