DECORA FASHION! An introduction to the style! :D So, what IS Decora exactly?
Decora is a fashion style that originated in the Harajuku district of Tokyo.
The point of it is to have lots of accessories!
Such as hairclips, face stickers, necklaces, bracelets, and lots of layers of clothing.
In decora, there is no such thing as too much ;-)
The word "decora" comes from the word "decorate"

Decora consists of many layers of clothing such as shirts, coats/jackets, tulle skirts, tights, and more. The biggest part of it are the accessories, which consist of bracelets, hairclips, necklaces, face stickers, rings, and possibly more. People who participate in the fashion might have their natural hair out, (the usual) or have colourful wigs that match their clothing. The clothing may have prints aswell such as hearts or polkadots. Origin of Decora The origin of decora can be traced down to the japanese idol Tomoe Shinohara among teens during the 90s. Her fashion sense is quite similar to the decora we have today, but with no hairclips and instead features childish hats and hair ties as head accessories. Her fans would often try to emulate her style. (While also trying to maintain a bit original) They would then be featured in the FRUiTS streetssnap magazine, which is where they would gain the term decora.
In the 90s, compared to the 2000s decora, was quite different. Instead of focusing on accessories, they focused more the loose and draped silhouette as well as punk themes such as plaid patterns or pins. Myths and misconceptions in Decora.
Isnt Decora cosplay?
Nope! Decora is not cosplay. It is its own fashion style. HOWEVER... If you are cosplaying a character you can add decora themes to them such as hairclips or bracelets! There are also other styles that you can do aswell.
Isnt Decora just colourful clothing?
Nope! Decora is not colourful clothing. The point of decora is to have alot of layers and accessories. Although people usually go with a rainbow theme, you can do other colour palettes or primary colours such as pastel decora or pink decora! Subtypes of Decora!

- OTT (Over the top) Decora A decora style where you go absolute nuts with the accessories. - Casual Decora The opposite of OTT decora, where you go more relaxed with the accessories. Pink Decora A decora where the colour focus on shades of red, magenta, and pink! Dark Decora A decora with black and white colours, barely or sometimes features hints of red or pink. Pastel Decora A decora where its colour scheme is pastel colours! Decora Lolita (Or aka decololita) Decora lolita combines the many accessories of decora, with lolita fashion. It is very often combined with sweet lolita.
