It's been a few weeks since he got Isekai'd into the Pokemon world due to an untied shoelace and a meeting with truck-kun. At first he was terrified of his surroundings. Between the the old manga, logical conclusions from how the setting functions, and the countless edgy fanfics he had read, he was expecting this world to be an absolute nightmare.

Turns out it's less like the manga and and more like the games and anime. Like, a lot more. The only diseases in existence would just make you stronger instead of weaker, people gave out free things on a whim, and everyone was not only willing to be interrupted over whatever they were doing but would actively engage in conversation on top of that. He could've walked into an active construction site and started chatting with one of the workers and they'd immediately dump their equipment on the ground and start going on about seeing a Pichu in the shopping district before handing him a quick ball. How anything got done in this world was a mystery.

Not to say the people here were like mindless NPCs or anything else along those lines. They wouldn't just repeat the same sentence on a loop while walking in a circle. A good way to describe the new world would be like comparing it to an entire planet populated by very well meaning autists that are hyper fixated on very mundane things no matter what the context or situation is.

Continuing on with that metaphor, it'd also explain why type specialists are so prevalent and why so few people went pro or became gym leaders. Everyone in the world liked battling, but almost nobody had a single fuck to give about running a gym or even doing a full gym circuit. Most of them would get far enough to actually fixate on what they wanted to do then drop it without a second thought. Turns out the "journey of self discovery" thing is extremely literal. People just wander around until they see something that clicks with them and then go all in on it. Some people just go to the next town over and find out they really enjoy gardening. Some make it until they reach a power plant and settle on being an electrician. Some just enjoy traveling or battling so much they become elite trainers and hang around Victory Road and battle each other forever.

What about the dex entries, then? Are they at least based on reality? Absolutely not. Turns out that fandom head canon about them being written by a kid spouting hyperbole was true. Apparently it's considered tradition for new trainers given a pokedex to come up with the most absurd entries possible without pushing the envelope too hard.

Bewear accidentally breaking spines from hugging people? There's never even been a case of Bewear harming a person, let alone breaking their spine by accident. They probably could if they tried, but that'd require them having a single mean bone in their body. Cubone wearing their dead mother's skulls? They don't even wear skulls, that's just their natural head. Hatterene violently assaulting people if they sense any emotions? Turns out they're just far more autistic than the people in this world and suffer sensory overload easily so people tell kids to stay away from them so they aren't overwhelmed.

Waking up in Alola was still initially terrifying for one reason: Ultra Beasts. Surely at least they would be dangerous, right? Wrong. Not only were their dex entries also made up but they didn't even live up to how they acted in-game or in the anime. They were less like unhinged legendaries with no restraint and more like teleporting raccoons. It's hard to be scared of inter dimensional wormholes that contain dangerous monsters when he saw one open in the middle of a grocery store and the only reaction to it was someone putting a wet floor sign next to it.
