I acknowledge that Matthew Tkachuk is a trump supporter. My special interest on him does not reflect my own political beliefs. I am very critical of him while acknowledging the detriment of forced separation from a special interest. Hockey is a sport in which the majority of the players are republican aligned if not fully fledged supporters, it is incredibly difficult to find a player that is not. In order to like hockey as a queer and trans person one must acknowledge this thoroughly before attacking people like me for having a special interest on a player that is problematic.
