Cat-scratch disease (CSD) is a mild bacterial infection spread through scratches or bites from infected cats or kittens, or exposure to cat fleas. The bacteria, Bartonella henselae, can also be transmitted through contact with infected cat saliva on broken skin or mucosal surfaces like the eyes, nose, or mouth.
