Chapter V: The Republic responds.

Summer, 1102

Florus Aquilius Corvus was furious. He had spent the last 20 years working towards stability and continued wealth for his republic only for some Pomeranian renegade Prince to come into Feeshland, lay waste to its most fertile farming regions, destroy a Tribunal Army and then to top it all off, get the second city of the Republic, Aquileia to submit to him willing. Seeing the head of Julianus did not bring him fear, but pure rage. He would walk into the Tribunal the next day and show all of the Senators Julianus' head before giving a speech and call to arms. "Brothers, this vile brigand who calls himself a Prince defiled the name of OUR republic and OUR Goddess by his cruelty. He represents everything that our ancestors despised when they overthrew the last King of this fair land. He is full of greed, arrogance, narcissism, savagery and tyranny. He is the manifestation of evil itself, and his evil convinced the city of Aquileia to proclaim him their so-called Prince. We must show this vile renegade republic virtues by the only means he knows, by the sword itself. We must make an example of this wicked man and those that follow him. We must punish the traitors that sided with him. But most importantly, we must make an example, for all to see, that Feeshland lives and Feeshland marches on! Ripping open his toga TO ARMS, I SAY TO ARMS.

Florus's Speech before the Tribunal

The Doge received a standing ovation and an air of patriotic fervor soon captured everyone in Atalanta. Everyone, from the Patricians to the Citizens rallied to the banner. Some 50,000 men would be raised to utterly destroy this foreign invader. The Doge himself took command and would begin to march towards Aquileia. This was the largest army Feeshland had organized since the days of the Kingdom and was composed of veterans and eager recruits a like. For many, this would be their first battle but little did they know that this would also be their last battle too.
