Of all the web services I have used in my entire life, AI Dungeon is the absolute worst, most disappointing, most cluelessly designed, most tone-deaf, most clunky, most buggy, worst communicating, worst performing, and most confusing apps I've ever had the displeasure of paying for. I'm not talking about the output from the AI - The entire reason I'm here is for cheap OpenAI access, and it's the best part of the app.

I'm talking about the complete radio silence on feature design and additions on any front that actually matters to the average consumer, leaving actual discussion locked behind a bloated cumbersome chatroom. Keeping up with development of this application is a nightmare at the least. Third party news sources tend to keep me more informed than simply being on the website that the app is designed for in the first place. The feedback system is an absolute joke with how few developer responses are on the site.

I'm talking about the ridiculous anti-consumer rolling release system where code is pushed to stable and tested on paying customers before even knowing if the newly developed systems will work. Never in my YEARS of working in web development have I EVER heard of a codebase being PUSHED TO STABLE WITH NO TESTING, NO BETA BRANCH, AND NO INTERNAL SERVER. It's like you want a security breach to happen. Oh wait, it did.

I'm talking about the complete lack of respect for user privacy and freedom, and the weasel words employed when you're called out for your mistakes. Nothing in any part of your website is written in any sort of straightforward way. Sometimes I can read a part of the helpdesk designed to describe a feature, and still have no clue what the feature even does. Messages have been not just closed, but deleted outright asking for more clarification and privacy tools for our content. This makes me sick to see.

I'm talking about the ridiculous price model that was obviously unsustainable, but approved anyway, and then gradually jacked up over time as the crushing reality of the cost of this garbage started looming on you.

I'm talking about the empty promises and impossible goals this entire software was sold on way back in it's days as a Patreon-funded project. Inventory system? With a text transformer? You seriously think this will still work?

I'm talking about the disgracefully sinful app design and quality that's so non-performant that it crashes my phone, so inconsistent that I have to consider what any given button press will do to my focus before I do it, so lacking in accessibility features that I had to buy a USB OTG cable for my keyboard just to use the software with my fucking tablet...You can't even press enter on the login page to sign in. How did that get past testing? Oh wait, you guys don't do testing.

I'm talking about the complete and total abandonment of the open source community that would have gladly worked with you to make this the best software it could possibly be, but you smelled money and immediately said buenos noches, and now you're in hot water because it turns out you've been snooping in everyone's stories and forgot to tell us. Us. Your paying customers. We trusted you, and you treated us like test subjects with credit cards.

In case those statements weren't obvious, I've been around since the beginning. I saw you sew the seeds of discourse in this project. I saw you claim you had everything under control and that this was going to be the revolution of video games. I warned you of the dangers, and you, Nick Walton, told me to my face that you didn't agree with my opinions. You said you wanted this to be on the quality of Skyrim. Well, Mr. Walton, you're getting your Skyrim: It's a buggy mess that's borderline unplayable without the community patching it up for you. It'll age horrendously and will be remembered more fondly for the things it failed to do than the things it succeeded in doing.

What's the single biggest reason for me canceling my subscription? AI Dungeon itself.
