diagnostic criteria
a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others, occurring since
age 15 years, as indicated by two (or more) of the following:
.failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors, as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
.deceitfulness as indicated by repetitive lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
.impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
.irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
.reckless disregard for safety of self or others
.consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations
.lack of remorse as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another
meeting the age requirement (18 years old)
evidence of conduct disorder prior to age 15
the occurrence of antisocial behavior is not exclusively during the course of schizophrenia or manic episodes
subtypes + proper terminology psychopath - someone born with antisocial traits sociopath - someone who aquired antisocial traits
covetous - They are rapacious, begrudging, and discontentedly yearning. Often hostile and domineering. Often envious and avaricious. They pleasure more in taking than in having.
malevolent - They are belligerent, mordant, rancorous, vicious, sadistic, malignant, brutal, and resentful. They often anticipate betrayal and punishment. Often desire revenge. Are truculent, callous, fearless, and guiltless. Often are prone to engaging in dangerous criminal activity, such as grand theft or murder.
risk taking - They are dauntless, venturesome, intrepid, bold, audacious, and daring; though, often reckless, foolhardy, and heedless. They are unfazed by hazard and often pursue perilous ventures.
nomadic - They are drifters, roamers, vagrants, adventurers, itinerant vagabonds, tramps, and wanderers. They typically adapt easily in difficult situations, though tend to be shrewd and impulsive. Their mood centers on doom and invincibility.
reputable - Needs to be thought of as infallible, unbreakable, indomitable, formidable, and inviolable. Tend to be intransigent when status is questioned. Often overreact to perceived slights.
