• What is this?
  • These are the lists of any possible ways or places to get paid LLM's or any AI related things for free or in cheaper price than the actual thing, AI piracy is not generally much known or being talked about anywhere, so here I created this rentry to make people know about these more and generally make AI piracy resources easier to find.

Types of services

There are many types of services used in AI piracy, mostly in LLM sites.

• Reverse Proxy API - They are a type of service where anyone can use an AI API with many included models, either for free or at a cheap price. For how they work is that someone subscribes to a paid 3rd party API services such as OpenRouter and StabilityAI, etc. Then they use it as a reverse proxy to provide public access to these third-party APIs which then allows many people to use them:

  • Chinese API services: These resources are mostly found on the Linux.do forum, other Chinese forums, or Telegram groups. They can be purchased at a cheaper price in Chinese Yuan. The primary purpose of these services is to access AI platforms outside of China, as many are banned or restricted within the country. They can be used in frontends or any other AI programs that support custom endpoints.
  • API Discord Servers: Also known as "Discord AI Hubs," these communities may offer access at a cheap price (often via donation) or completely free with limits, depending on the server. They operate by providing a custom API endpoint and generating an API key for you. You can enter these credentials into a frontend or any AI program that supports custom endpoints to chat with models for free.

• Mirror Pools - These services imitate original AI chatbot site UIs (like ChatGPT or Claude) and offer access via free or premium accounts. This depends on what accounts the mirror pool maintainers add using login cookies or accounts often volunteered by members of Chinese forums like Linux.do.
  ‎ You select from a list of available accounts on the selection screen of an AI mirror pool's main page. There can be over 100 or sometimes just a few, depending on the timing. Sometimes accounts may be tagged as down, limited, premium, or free. You can find them on Chinese forums such as Linux.do.
  ‎ Also to note, there are some mirror pools that require you to set your own 8-character password. However, this only happens to you locally. Other people using the same account can still use it but they have to make their own password. Sometimes they are also known as RawChat.

• Hosted 3rd party frontend websites - These are websites that use interfaces like NextChat and LobeChat. They allow you to host your own AI UI by connecting to an API (third-party or official) or by self-hosting your own LLMs (using tools like Ollama). You can self-host these frontends privately or host them publicly. Public instances sometimes rely on third-party reverse proxy APIs to make paid models available for free to the public.

• Linux.do: A Chinese programming forum mostly focusing on AI-related discussions, it also offers some guides, services, or AI websites that offer paid LLMs for free or at a cheaper price. You may be able to find free and cheap resources on this site by searching "free (model name)," "for free (model name)," or "cheap (model name)" in Chinese (use English for the model name) or by going to the AI tag (the purple brain icon on the main page's lower-left corner). However, sometimes it may take a while to find a proper, completely free working reverse proxy service or website in the forum.
