The historic Legacy of a lost Nation
For a long time, the southern half of the Corpo-Liberal Continent was host to a Nation that flourished and strived into a strong and beautiful Dove that had its name, Diastima, and legacy spread over the whole world. Yet that same Nation was turned into rubble in but a few decades of unfortunate events leading to its eventual demise. What you are about to read, is a short summary based on historic records of a foreign nation and how events were perceived from their point of view.
A Pantheon torn asunder, An Empire reunited
It was at the end of the 11th Century that Diastima, then known as Ayakkayoli in some places of the world, was hit for the first time by tragedy. Out of nowhere, The Pantheon of Kyvern Zoi turned on itself, revealing the ugliness of many of its Goddesses that was hidden behind a mask of grace. A battle ensued and from its aftermath Lumiea and Yureia left in scorn, given shelter in the realm of the Syndeoneian Pantheon. The effects this heavenly event had on Diastima were catastrophically. Where confusion and doubt first laid seeds of paralysis over many parts of the nation, soon chaos and hate bore its fruits. Temples were burned to the ground, holy symbols destroyed and believers began bearing fangs at each other, blaming one another for the events of the heavens. Many of the divine would stir their followers against one another, while others would end themselves in sorrow. It is also believed that this event laid the foundation for following conflicts, as scholars speculate that it was this shake in their belief that secretly turned many clergies to the side of schizo and creating cults like a web over the nation.
Amidst this Chaos, Syndeoneia would not lie low. With the Goddesses of Lumiea and Yureia fleeing into the embrace of their own Pantheon, they saw it as their sworn duty to liberate their believers in Diastima from the clutches of the evil they are subjected to. To achieve this goal, the syndeoneian Emperor of the time used his bloodline, dating back to the united Diastima-Syndeoneia, to make his claim on the diastiman Throne. With its people split and chaos throughout the Land, Diastima could not hold for long and was swiftly overrun by the syndeoneian forces, who had developed their weapons to ever new heights. The citizens of Diastima had no choice but to obey their new Emperor for their survival.
A Dove turned War hound
Now united back into the grand Diastima-Syndeoneia Empire, their shared Emperor was pricked with ambition. It was at the dawn of the 12th century that he felt secure enough in his reign to set the stage for one of the greatest wars that the world had yet to see. The plan was to unite the entire south of the continent, and with their increase of manpower as well as military advancements that had been made in Syndeoneia, one could almost see how this seemed feasible at the time. Artavashahr and Antiokheion were meant as their first victims, as they were long time enemies and would serve as a great platform to eventually encircle Vshojo, who was their biggest thread in their undertaking. And so the Emperor used Diastima and its people as the base with which to strike a fatal blow towards Artavashahr.
But the Empire underestimated the response they would receive from the world at large. The conquest of the artavashahrian sea lock by their Navy, and the news of their land conquests, awoke two ancient wigglies that were not to be trifled with.
To the East, the Retro Reich decided to amass a quick response force with their Navy, while sending supplies towards Artavashahr to bolster their land forces.
To the West, the Tsukinode Empire collected their Navy into one big force, while also loading it with a mighty landing party to strike right into the enemy's heart.
Even with an unexpected ally in the Gran Principato degli Astronomi coming to their Aid, the Diastima-Syndeoneia Empire could not hold for long and was eventually brought down.
With the war lost, the time came for the victors to take their spoil and so at the council that would decide the fate of the land, Diastima was thrown before the dogs by the Emperor. He declared Syndeoneia no longer associated with their former conquest and blamed them, for the events and the fate of the heavens before, to make him a man of just before fleeing cowardly into exile. Set into a position of right, even their former allies would now bite into the land of Diastima, and so the land was taken apart in all directions.
Syndeoneia in the South would claim vast lands of former Lumiea and Yureia as theirs
Artavashahr would take back what they had lost and more as compensation in the East.
Their islands in the north would fall towards the Retro Reich for the taking,
and even in the West, the Tsukinode Empire would take small parts for themselves to get a foothold onto the foreign soils.
Yet, despite vast stripes of land taken away, and the war lost, one sliver of hope came out of all of this. The war hound finally returned to being a dove, ready to spread its wings in the returned freedom, or so it at least believed, not yet feeling the iron bars that were being setup around it.
The caged Dove
Diastima was in ruins. The war had left great scars on the Nation and with its coffers exhausted it was in no position to recover from these wounds any time soon. With such a fate awaiting, the people began to doom and despair began to take hold. It was at this moment that two hands were stretched out, as the CIO, hailing from the Tsukinode Empire, and the Woozieporium, newly established in the Retro Reich, reached out and offered light in these dark times. In retrospect, it was foolish for Diastima to accept the help from foreign companies, but no one could hold it against the people of the time to readily jump at the chance of salvation dangled before them.
With the hands shaken, the two companies began their expansion, investing greatly into the restoration of the nation, and on a first glimpse the nation seemed saved and stable again. But foreign entities send from their former enemies had an expected effect on how people viewed things, and it almost seemed like it was welcomed by the companies. Soon, new rifts began appearing in the citizens of Diastima. Some hailed one or the other of the companies as an aristocrat send to bring hope after the despair while the other one would be considered a vile vshojorian devil, while others would begin to resent their own home nation and wish for both companies to take over. Less and less people would actually consider both to be the vile pawns of their former enemies trying to exploit them even in peace, yet, had fate taken a different turn, those might have been proven right, as both companies expanded further and further into the nation, overtaking several key elements of the economy in the name of their own homes. All the while, the south was facing constant harassment by their syndeoneian neighbors that forced Diastima to concentrate what little was left to their own towards the protection of the border.
A few decades later, it was clear to the upper echelons of Diastima that, if nothing changed, they would become nothing but a helpless puppet in the hands of their adversaries, and it seemed like there was nothing they could do to defy this fate, as any coordination seemed impossible with the rift driven between the people and unexplained uprise of schizoing among the population. But once more, fate seemed to give a sliver of Hope towards the Land. How exactly it happened is not known, some speculate it was simply a whim of fate, others say that foreign traders via the Woozieporium laid the groundwork, but the Nation came into good standing with the Nation League of Corpollum Akio.
With an ally to their name, that didn't seem to scheme ulterior motives, Diastima was ready to bet everything on one last act of defiance towards fate.
a Cage of their own choosing
Roughly two decades, after the lost war and its aftermath, Diastima announced their desire to join the Nation League of Corpollum Akio and to resign their own free will along with it. This news came as a shock to the world, as nothing had indicated anything that would justify such an action towards the world at large. But while for most it might have seemed insane to voluntarily give up their own freedom like this and to become but a part of a greater, the CIO and Woozieporium, as well as their respective Nations, bit their thumb in anger over the implications of this.
With this move, the old Legislation of the nation was essentially void and overtaken by a new Legislation under the yoke of the Corpollum Akio. Both companies basically came to a standstill in their plans as a new bureaucracy had to be established with new rulings and new implications on the work both had done so far. To that came a new third power meddling in the economy of Diastima, that was not willing to play along with the game the other two had been playing. The puppeteer's hands had been halted.
Diastima once again had to relinquish their freedom, but in their actions they at least managed to choose a Cage of their own choosing that would allow them to remain itself. But while the Nation managed to find a solution for the Problem in the open, they sadly oversaw the Problem hidden beneath.
A caged Dove cannot strife
Just as the Doom, that seemed to start the ill fate that befall the nation of Diastima, came unexpected and swift. So came the Doom that would end its ill fate.
Changes to adapt to the new circumstances, through the merge with the Nation League, were in full swing when it happened. The unexplained uprise in schizoing in recent years suddenly exploded all over the nation. Confusion however only had but a moment to take place as Clergies of all kinds seemed to appeal to the masses with messages of their true fate as the only true believers of the nation and to trust none of heretic fate. Even worse were the believers around the Goddess Vera that immediately began to call for a war of the righteous, laying the foundation for a gruesome and bloody civil war.
It all came so fast, that no one sane had a chance to react to all the happenings, and the nation was quickly engulfed entirely by the fires of war. In one last twist of fate, it were those yet of sound mind, begging for help to escape towards peace, that would find rescue by the CIO and Woozieporium of all possible places. While some might judge both as evils due to their actions, the companies were still driven by humans and in sympathy they did their best to evacuate as many people as possible from the horrors that ate away the nation until there was nothing they could do anymore.
Diastima had fallen to fate once and for all. Where once stood a nation of strong and beautiful Dove, now only ruins and packs of crazed war hounds remain. No one had dared try and succeed in bringing the nation back once more and as such, its legacy as a Nation ends here.
But maybe one more sliver of hope remains yet, as while the nation is gone, some of its people yet remain. The Nation League of Corpollum Akio held their promise and welcomed the refugees as people of their own, and even in other nations one can find survivors of a lost Empire living their lives.
