Privacy Policy - AI Tab Organizer

Last updated: 2026-02-20

AI Tab Organizer helps users organize open browser tabs into semantic groups.

Data we handle

To provide tab-grouping features, the extension may handle:

  • Tab metadata from the current window (for example, tab title and URL)
  • User settings saved in Chrome storage (provider mode, max groups, pinned-tab setting, Ollama settings)

How we use data

We use tab metadata only to:

  • Generate semantic grouping suggestions
  • Create and update Chrome native tab groups

We use stored settings only to:

  • Remember user preferences for future use

Data sharing and transfers

  • We do not sell user data.
  • We do not use user data for advertising.
  • We do not use user data for creditworthiness or lending decisions.

Provider-specific behavior:

  • Gemini Nano mode is intended to run on-device in Chrome.
  • Ollama mode sends requests to the user-configured Ollama endpoint (default http://127.0.0.1:11434).
  • Cloud-backed Ollama models are disabled by default and require explicit user opt-in.
  • If a user enables a cloud-backed Ollama model, the Ollama service may transmit data outside the device according to that provider's terms.

Data retention

The extension does not maintain a remote backend database for tab data.
Tab metadata is processed for grouping functionality and is not persisted by this extension beyond operational runtime needs.
User preferences are stored in Chrome storage until the user changes settings or removes the extension.

Security

  • We minimize permissions to those needed for core functionality.
  • We do not execute remote code.
  • Communication is limited to extension APIs and optional local Ollama endpoint calls.

User controls

Users can:

  • Change provider mode (Auto/Gemini/Ollama/Local)
  • Disable Ollama usage by selecting Local mode
  • Remove all extension data by uninstalling the extension and/or clearing extension storage
