ㅤㅤ⠀ ۪ㅤ♡　my favourite figure skaters (women's singles)

⟡1.　　Adeliya Petrosyan - if you couldn't tell.. i absolutely LOVE adeliya! as a fellow armenian i absolutely love my armenian athletes. i feel like she's so underestimated and underrated when it comes to eteri girls. she's literally the first woman to land a 4Lo, hello? and she has a 3A, 4T, 4F along with her 4Lo. like wow guys. her spins are also INCREDIBLE, especially in juniors, just look at her speed and centering! i also love her slides ugh.. especially how she does a split in the middle of it too. and honestly, i think she has a decent amount of artistry too, something the other eteri girls lack a lot.. she has so much potential in international competitions, i hope she returns asap

⟡2.　　Evgenia Medvedeva - the skater who first got me into figure skating. absolutely LOVE zhenya as a figure skater. and heh.. she's armenian too oop.. anyways. i was first introduced to zhenya when i was in my sailor moon pilled phase. my sister showed me her sailor moon program and i was literally just WOW she's so cool!! i love her skating. aside from her HORRIBLE technique.. she has unmistakeable artistry. her expressions, musicality.. everything. she just understands what she's skating to. went undefeated for 2 seasons straight. crazy. had a huge jump success rate too. and being only 1.31 point behind alina who backloaded all her jumps, guys hello?? that's my olympic champ honestly.. i'm not saying alina's win was unfair, technically speaking, she obviously won fairly. but as a huge zhenya fan, i would, of course, wish for her to be the winner.. and like i said, she was literally only 1.31 points behind alina, who backloaded all her jumps. MY GOATTT! i also cry into my pillow at the thought of zhenya's time with brian.. that's my father-daughter right there. i love them so much i'm so sad

⟡3.　　Yuna Kim - queen yuna herself. one of the best women's singles skater out there. she has technique, skating skills, spins, artistry, EVERYTHING. i don't understand how anyone could not have her in their top five skaters. she was so robbed at 2014 olympics and i will stand by this till the day i die. her lutz is to die for.. and her jumps look so light, easy and visually pleasing. we will never have another yuna

⟡4.　　Mao Asada - the goat of step sequences.. her footwork is to DIE for omd. i absolutely love her programs. her artistry is amazing. my 2014 olympic medalist.. her 3A is so good. and imagine going from 16th place from a failed SP to 6th place after your legendary FP.. INSANEEE

ㅤㅤ⠀ ۪ㅤ♡　the RPF/shipping issue in the figure skating fandom

just like any other fandom, figure skating has it's own shipping community. obviously, not everyone feels all sunshine and rainbows about this since we're talking about REAL people. in my opinion, i think it's fine to ironically ship famous people for the fun of it, not like, in full seriousness. i also condemn fan fictions about them. shipping them is one thing, writing a whole fanfic about them is another thing.. especially if we're talking about MINORS. i also do not condone the shipping of real people who have spoken out for being uncomfortable about it. let's respect people's boundaries, okay guys? one of the other huge problems is how BIG of an age gap majority of famous figure skating pairings have. some are even borderline pedophilia: evgenia x eteri (25 years), sergei x aliona (14 years), evgenia x yuzuru (5 years), adeliya x amber (8 years), anna x daniil (13 years). why are we shipping literal coaches with their students?! some of these are heavily normalized too.. and before you say "why is petroglenn here, they both met as adults!" babes they have EIGHT years of age difference. adeliya was just 18 when she met amber who was literally 26. also, amber sees alysa, who's 6 years her junior, as her LITTLE SISTER, how do you think she'd feel about adeliya, who's 8 years her junior? it's just so icky. can i also say how normalized evgenia x alina is despite their 3 years age difference.. you'll say hey, it's just 3 years! but guys.. c'mon..? at the olympics, alina was 15, while evgenia was literally 18. do we not see the huge maturity gap? also yuzuru x javier which is also 3 years.. thin ice honestly. i mostly just like petroliu and trusakova, as their age gap is under 3. i think it's fine, as trusova knows about fanfictions of her but has never claimed that fans should stop, and adeliya knows about people shipping her with other skaters and she has only stated that "i guess this is how people have fun. but it's all obviously not true." so she has never said anything about being against it. yagushenko is also fine, as yagudin & plushenko genuinely don't care.

ㅤㅤ⠀ ۪ㅤ♡　the issue with RUSbots + TRUSObots in the figure skating fandom

all fandoms have their toxic side, and it obviously includes figure skating as well. let's say rusbots are the DEMONS of the figure skating fandom. if you ever dare to speak about a non-russian skater, they will find any way to bring up a russian skater or compare them to a russian one. we get it. it's a competitive sport. it is okay to compare athletes. but shoving down your unneeded comparisons down our throats is ANNOYING. and the worst thing is, their comparisons aren't even objective nor are they factual and valid. comparing trusova to everyone, despite her only strength being in her jumping ability, is straight up FOOLISH. i could name a dozen of better skaters. i hear people genuinely claim that alexandra trusova is better than aliona kostornaia.. brother what. aliona has the skating skills, the spins, the artistry that trusova doesn't. yes, she did not jump quads like trusova, but she still had ultra-c, no? she's a complete skater, unlike trusova, who has average skating skills, boring and non-flexible spins and little to no artistry. at least aliona knew how to remain artistic in her senior career, unlike trusova. comparing trusova's butterfly to alysa's flying camel. HOLY LARP. trusobots are just walking posers, honestly. it's okay.. just admit that you don't know anything about figure skating. also, claiming that valieva and trusova will mop other skaters is just...? and no, mentioning trusova's flaws doesn't equal discrediting her. she of course revolutionized women's figure skating and broke records. she's an amazing athlete and an inspiration to many other young girls in figure skating. but we should also acknowledge that overall, she's not the best. the whole "alysa won the olympics because russians weren't there!" thing is also very stupid.. a reigning 3 times national champion adeliya was there. she still lost. + trusova couldn't even attend the olympics that time, neither could valieva. so what skaters are you referring to? the current russian seniors are really weak, incosistent, injured and unstable. i don't understand which russian skater could've been sent there who would win. and saying elena kostyleva will go to the 2030 olympics and win it is so..?? she's heavily injured now, do you think she will be able to keep this up until she's 19? not to mention how that's the age majority of russians retire at. by the way, the russian dominance is mostly due to overscoring. yes, they absolutely dominated in the technical field, we cannot deny that, but these skaters are literally mid/average in every other aspect of figure skating. dare i say the japanese skaters are much better. (facts) and claiming that eteri tutberidze is a better coach than brian orser is just foul.. comparing a literal abuser who malnourishes her skaters and physically harms them to the best coach of all time with healthy skaters and 2 super slam achievers.. just wow. if eteri is so good, why do her students barely last until they're at least 20? don't even start..

ㅤㅤ⠀ ۪ㅤ♡　the condonation of problematic figure skaters

majority of figure skaters are problematic yet their fans overlook it. ilia malinin, a literal homophobe, who hangs out and posts cute little selfies with a literal PREDATOR who preys on minors, still has fans? and to think he's friends with queer people (amber, alysa, etc.) after this.. insane lol. alina zagitova, who has said the n word in multiple lip synced videos, still gets excused. "but she doesn't say it anymore" did she apologize? no. she's still racist. kamila valieva who is a huge putin bootlicker, is still excused as well. "but her meeting putin doesn't make her pro-war!" omg you people are so narrow-minded. yes, of course, pinning an instagram post of you standing next to him, attending pro-war events and shows is not pro-war guys! and almost every single russian skater does this, yet their actions get excused by ignorant people. either way, this does not mean you aren't allowed to appreciate a skater for how they skate. we should be able to separate a skater's off-ice persona from what they deliver on the ice. after all, when talking about figure skating, we judge the skater's performance, not how they behave outside of the rink. it is okay to appreciate a skater and the quality of their performance, what's wrong is defending them as people off-ice and condoning their wrong behavior

ㅤㅤ⠀ ۪ㅤ♡　my take on beijing 2022 scandal

beijing 2022 was.. something for sure. it was both the most exceptional and the most problematic olympics. first off, trusova's behavior and reaction to her second place. honestly, i would be very heartbroken too if i broke records on ice only within 4 minutes just to not win. objectively speaking, she deserved a gold medal for those records. but technically speaking, she did NOT. she fell on her SP which cost her the gold medal. her FP wasn't skated clean either. she had step-outs and unclean landings on her jumps. and don't even start on the "artistry".. there was NONE. in my opinion, both of her programs were just horribly executed. she was also overscored, let's be real.. and about her reaction: i think they should've let her go to the changing room instead of pointing cameras at her breaking down in tears. i'm not blaming her for her reaction, she was only 17. but in my opinion, the things she said were really UNNECESSARY. trusova defenders keep claiming that trusova never denied anna's win but she literally has pictures of her holding an edited image of her with the gold medal. and the things she said during her breakdown were clearly unfair to anna. she claimed that the judging and the results were not fair and that "you can't do it this way". she's obviously implying that SHE should've been the winner, not someone else. so this was, in my opinion, very rude towards anna. i know it was a very emotionally difficult moment for her, but i don't think such words had to be said. secondly, kamila's doping scandal. i am VERY frustrated at how this has been handled. none of the adults around her held accountability for what they've done to a 15 year old. she was given 57 drugs between the ages of 13-15. and you're telling me, instead of confronting the coaches and all the adults around her regarding this case, they decided to simply disqualify her results from recent competitions and ban her for years from competing? that's just UNFAIR. and the fact that that to this day, we never found out how this happened and who was behind it. i am furious. but i am also angry at the fact that they let kamila compete in the individual event after this. it's not fair to other athletes. and it was not fair to kamila either, given her horrible condition. but to be honest, i think the federation had something to do behind this. they lost their gold medal at the team event, and to not lose the other 2 medals (from anna and sasha) in the individual event, she purposely finished off podium for the medal ceremony to take place, since she was told if she finished on the podium, nobody would receive their medals. but overall, these olympics were exceptional. records were broken in both women's and men's discipline, the scores were one of the highest, and in general it was intense as hell
