Absurdism versus Nihilism
While they are similar in the idea that life has no objective meaning, Nihilism is the belief that since life has no purpose, it is futile to do anything. In contrast, Absurdism is the idea that despite the absurd nature of life, it is possible to accept it into our lives.
What Absurdism means to a 17yo (aka: me)
I've always been unsure of what life is, what I want to achieve, and the like. I had thought I was a nihilist, which I honestly believe I am. However, I want to be able to have a mindset like an absurdist. That despite everything in life, I can be able to stay afloat instead of sink to the deepest of depths. I had always asked why I wanted to live and I feel like I still can't provide that answer entirely. I want to be able to have an answer despite knowing everything I know.
Miscellanous Stuff
Besides what I mentioned above, I just love the word 'Absurd' itself and all of the variants. 'Absurd', 'Absurdism', 'Absurdist'. Woah, that's absurd! I'm just realizing how many good synonyms there are to 'Absurd': 'Riduculous', 'Ludicrous', & 'Preposterous' to name a few.
