vion is honestly more of an oc than a sona, but it doesn't mean i don't yume monika. i just prefer to create an oc rather than self-insert because since we're so similar, a self-insert would make for a boring dynamic!

VION'S GAME:

after-school nocturne (放課後ノクターン)

otome game set in the debate club with vion as the president, and 6 other members.

during the club sections, you pick a side to debate on, and you can hang out with the characters on that side after school.

larger project than ddlc, with more settings in the world, and the characters have a bit more depth.

VION'S PURPOSE:

monitor kernel access = monika
virtualized input/output node = vion

while monika has admin accessibility and can basically control their whole world, vion is more of a data collector (hence input/output).

team salvato made him (and after-school nocturne) as 'vm 1.5', with character depth like project libitina, but a similar setting to ddlc. it's not a particularly large simulation, between the sizes of project libitina and ddlc (hence the 1.5).

since team salvato agreed that monika's level of control was unrealistic, they decided to make another vm similar to our reality, with a character who is aware of the simulation, but has no control over it—as to be more realistic.

on the game-canon side, team salvato decided that releasing ddlc as a game was a good idea, as they got lots of data, so they made sure to promote asnct ! vion isn't traditionally romanceable, but he's incredibly popular as a secret route, and as a character in general.

VION'S PERSONALITY:

he is arrogant, self-important and cold, he's based off the oresama trope from otome games (much like the dokis are based off dating sim tropes). he's competitive, claiming monika as his rival, the two always seem to be fighting over something! however, he still has a soft spot and infatuation for her, as they're the only two 'real' ones in their world (and also because he just Loves her. stupid straggoy).

vion grew up as the heir to a small fortune, expecting to inherit his family's casino business when he was old enough. however, when he was about to start high school, his father was sued for 'unfair treatment of staff', and his money, status and future all plummeted. he refuses to admit it, though, and still clings onto his 'superiority', even if he no longer has the money to back it up.
