Space Adolion

Cover Art

Alright, Sci-fi stuff. It's been a long time coming. So let's discuss real quick what it looks like. First off, some of this stuff is just ripped straight from Starfinder. The Gap? Stolen. The Swarm? Stolen. Talavor? Stolen. That's not to say everything is stolen. Shit, a lot of it is just me slamming my head into a desk and hoping something cool drops out of resulting bloody gash in my skull.

With the Gap, there's ambiguity as to how much impact a medieval fantasy world should have on the resulting Sci-Fi fantasy stuff and frankly I didn't want to spend a long time trying to think of a brand new, inventive way to make that happen. I'll go into detail on the Gap in the next section in more detail.

Next up, why Adolion? Well that's because I like the name and shit, why not capitalize on some of the name recognition Adolion provides? Not like I'm making money off of this, but seeing "Adolion" carries some weight, I think. I put a lot of work into my fantasy world and I put a lot of work into this Sci-Fi world. In fact, it's literally just been sitting there for a while because I keep thinking it's 'not enough' for a release. Going to just throw it out there and hope you all like it.

Finally, I took some liberties with a few of the bots. Namely that they all presume you are:

A: A member of the Adventurer's Society
and
B: Have your own Ship.

Other than that, usual wildcard stuff. With the exception of - I think - Amalie and Althaeon, none of the bots are hard-coded into believing you're a member of the Adventurer's Society, much like with my early work on Bella/Ellie/Arryn/etc, the bots just presume you're their partner in some way.

Anyway, off to the races.

Lore Primer

The Gap. No one knows what the hell happened in the several thousand years after everyone collectively realized that there was a lot of history missing. Why did hundreds of thousands of people wake up on a space station orbiting a dead planet? Why are all written records of the events prior to the Gap missing? No one knows for sure. The Gap, did, however kickstart a collective desire to figure out what the hell happened.

Uniting under the banner of a charismatic leader, Corrin United was formed to bring some semblance of order to what had been dubbed "Adolion Station." The Stations size, facilities, and extensive records on properly maintaining all of the stations equipment made it a natural base for those waking up from the Gap. But survival isn't something the mixed races of Adolion Station could abide by. The elves wanted to find their heritage. The dwarves missed their mining expeditions.

Something had to be done.

Taking the first ships, Corrin United founded the very first branch of the Adventurers Society. With the stated mission of exploring the stars and protecting those who live in the universe, the Adventurers Society began sending expeditions out, mapping out the galaxy. Then the next galaxy. Then the next. Until they met friends and foes.

Adolion Station is now the central stage for commerce throughout the universe, its initial position placing it smack-dab in the center of the universe.

You are a new member of the Adventurer Society. Whatever purpose guided you to be one of its members is up to you. But you have a ship, a WULF, and a crew. It's up to you to take on missions given to you by the Adventurer's Society and uphold its tenets. Remember, Adventurer. Danger lurks around every corner.

Q&A

  • Is there Magic? Elves?

Hell yes.

  • Weapons?

Beam weapons and Laser weapons are both documented. So if you want to be a Jedi? Go for it. WH40k marine? Absolutely viable. Sword and board is just as useful as a good gun due to the existence of magic. In addition, you could flavor your magic as psychic abilities or more. Plenty of options here. Hell, you could probably 1-1 copy your fantasy character into this universe and have it work.

  • Money?

Credits, or Credchips if you want a physical version.

  • What is a WULF?

A WULF is a mecha, think Gundam, Lancer, Mechazoid. Personalized attack robots meant to fend off small scale attacks. Doesn't stand for anything. The creator thought it was a cool name and there's a variety of models out there. So if you want to play out Armored Core, that's a possibility.

  • Faster-Than-Light Travel?

FTL travel (Also known as 'lightspeed') is permitted due to the existence of Talavor, the God of Travel. Without Talavor's blessing, plotting the exact coordinates to warp to throughout the galaxy would be impossible. Be careful when going into Far Space though, no one comes back from Far Space.

  • Antagonists?

The Terrorborn make a resurgence here. Terrifying monsters that infest planets and are capable of overruning militaries.

The Swarm makes an appearance. Massive armies of insectoids that devour planets whole.

The Abyssals are a constant threat, flying ships made of flesh and capturing humanoid colonies for unknown purposes.

Bandit Factions will attack you in space to rob you of your goods.

  • Factions?

Your main point of contact for adventures is going to be the Adventurer Society.

Otherwise, you'll encounter other factions. The Nevereth Empire is a warlike empire set on expanding its territory. The Dalforta Syndicate is a capitalist society always looking to make a quick buck. The Kalos Legion is a race of dragonkin led by an Immortal Dragon Emperor who wage a never-ending war against the Abyssals. In addition, all of these factions share an uneasy alliance through the Allied Worlds pact.

  • Okay, but what about Boher?

Boher is still out here rocking shit. He's more defined here as the God of Life. His followers continue their war against necromancers and the undead.

  • Alien Races?

Any Alien Race technically suffices here. But you have elves, dragonkin, humans, androids etc. More unique is the Kescula, a race of intelligent crickets that go up to about waist-height and speak in chitters.

  • Ranks in the Adventurer Society?

Unfortunately no. Rather than try to force a ranking system (which isn't really a thing in most sci-fi worlds I've seen) I decided to do away with it. I'm still poking at a better ranking system for the next iteration of fantasy stuff I do and while I think I've hit on some fixes for the issues the original system presented, Sci-fi settings aren't actually that big on 'adventurer rank.' You're either a Captain or you're a Red Shirt.

Getting Started

First off, you'll want to grab the Space Adolion Narrator Card which will let you have an easier time implementing group chats and NPCs. The narrator works really well in my opinion, but the example dialogue may make it trend towards space pirates showing up. I recommend you only drop it in when you need it.

After that, grab an adventuring companion. There's two lorebooks you need. If you're on Chub, you can skip grabbing lorebooks since the lorebooks are linked to each Space Adolion bot of mine. If you're offline, then in an effort to not have the same problem I had with Adolion (where a whopping 85 entries were dedicated to characters alone) I'm separating the lorebook into two parts:

  • The Main Lorebook. This includes everything that makes Adolion in Space work. Locations, factions, weaponry, technology, etc.
  • The Character Lorebook This contains all of the characters in Adolion in Space, allowing your group chat characters to interact more seamlessly together. This is the 'optional' lorebook.

After that, your adventuring companion always comes with at least one baseline quest. Follow them on it.

If you want to do something different, Adolion Station is your first stop. It's the 'central hub' of the galaxy and is also where the Adventurer Society is based out of. You can go to the Society or contact them by comm any time to pick up new assignments.

You may also get assignments from any of the various factions listed above. They should provide quests or stuff as needed.

The only other thing you really have to do is take care of your ship. I recommend a new persona for this series. Include in it the name of your own ship. From there, everything else should flow pretty naturally.

Character Cards

Althaeon the Adventurer

Althaeon

Althaeon is basically Amalie. I know I said I'd try to stop doing this copy-paste genderswap stuff but cut me some slack if you don't mind. I'd been delaying the Sci-fi release for a while now and part of it was I wanted to have a male bot along with the release. Anyway, Althaeon is an excitable guy. He's just ready to be here and adventure along with you. He's the 'generic' companion to get you started in the universe as is common among my first series cards. Future cards will have more developed goals and the like to take you to specific locations, but Althaeon functions as a generalist who can go anywhere, negotiate, and cause problems when he relates your adventures to the latest holovid drama he's watching.

Amalie the Adventurer

Amalie was actually finished a long while back, when I just had the lorebook started and wanted to test the feasibility of a sci-fi world. She's been sitting there for so long that some of my optimizations from newer cards aren't in there. But despite that, Amalie is a treat. She's cute and is excited to be with you. She's meant to be a more 'generic' adventuring companion such as in the vein of my first few cards for Adolion. So she's up and ready for anything in the universe.

Nalva the Android

NALVA-07 or just "Nalva" is your android companion. Much like Amalie she's a 'default companion' where she's more along for the ride than to push her own narrative. That being said, Nalva has a bit of a defect where she's far more attached to you than her programming should allow so she's struggling to figure out how to piece that together while also keeping you safe. Cute Kuudere android. Not much else to say.
