The bus pulled up at the corner of Higan Academy's spacious schoolgrounds. Multitudes of the mundane masses slowly pooled out and made their way either inside of the academy, or down the street to the various surrounding areas in the central district of Kageoka. It had been hours taking bus to bus around the city from the outskirts of the mountains.

A loud snoring boy is swatted awake by an elderly grandma who had happened to accompany him for a few stops.

"Youngster, I can tell you're a student by your uniform. It's your stop."

The shaggy brown hair of Tomaki Warumachi was pushed out of the way by the shake of his head. Two larger than normal lower canines poke out from his bottom lip which warped his speech ever slightly. It was stained further by his accent picked up from living in the mountainside in a far smaller and rural village than what he had stepped into.

"Thank-- You!" He said with a grin.

The elderly woman smiled back and patted his back as he stood up.

Tomaki pushes hit foot into the strap of a large duffel bag containing his various things and kicks it up over his shoulder in a flexible motion. He moves to exit with the grandma, hopping in front of her somewhat rudely just to offer his shoulder to help her off. Even without both of his arms, Tomaki was raised with respect for others.

She sheepishly takes his shoulder and hops down off the bus and across to the sidewalk in which she departs from the young monk with a grin.

He bows to her. "Thank-- You, Auntie!"

"Oh you charmer. Have a great day at school, young man."

Tomaki straightens and turns to take in his first look at where had been sent to school. Tomaki had been homeschooled quite a bit growing up, he had been enrolled at Higan Academy for his entire run at school in the city, but this would be when he finally took it seriously. Flunking out of the same grade 3 times would not be forgiven again. He could see the disappointed look on his elders faces burned into his mind. It was not an exchange he wanted to happen again— Thinking too much made his shoulders ache.

As he crossed the large metal gate currently opened and allowing entry from the outside realms into the prestigious place of learning, Tomaki sneezed uncontrollably as his senses were suddenly assaulted.

An ability that was taught in his family was the idea or skill of extending your senses outward. Acting a alarm for the supernatural, to the point you would react autonomously to the unseen world happening around you. Sneezes, cold chills, goose pimples, ringing of the ears, particular stings in the joints. It was superstition at its core but his clan believed this was your body understanding something your mind couldn't comprehend.

He suddenly looked around. It hadn't been very long since his encounter with-

The entire world seemed to shake and tremble. Tomaki almost losing his footing and crashing down to the floor. A voice crept into his mind like a petal carried on the ever whipping winds. Deep, rumbly, and calm.

"Tomaki Warumachi." was all it said. Calling to him from a distant place.

The haze of dizziness subsided just in time for various students to watch the monk's first impression as a wobbling comical mess.

As various students began to giggle or point, Tomaki found himself not alone in his fumble was suddenly met with gasps. Alongside him was someone else who mirrored his tone with a bright shining smile plastered on his face.

The pristine state of his uniform almost shined as did his heroic grin.

"A performance! What a way to introduce yourself." Peoples eyes were plastered by the comical display but no longer at just the awkward student making his first way into proper society, but at who stood beside him. Shu Jinko, student council president whom himself had just wandered up to enter school grounds alongside everybody else.

"Hello!" Tomaki felt his body moving downward into the so-called performance and not the supernatural quaking that only he had fully noticed at the time.

Shu and Tomaki hung and bent off one leg stretching themselves in an arc. It was an odd way to both introduce and be introduced to others. Tomaki couldn't clock the importance of the boy beside him. Only that as they both moved and turned his awkward tumble into a impromtu hayashi performance was met with boisterous laughter from Tomaki's gullet.

"Hope-- Right place." Tomaki straightened himself and with a toothy smile took a small bow towards Shu Jinko.

"Hey man. Welcome to Higan Academy! My name is Shu Jinko." He returned the gesture with a small bow and a hand to his chest that then extended outward– an involuntary action of good faith which had been a handshake– before ending in a snap and thumbs up.

Behind them and peaking with long black hair revealing manic eyes was a girl who had only focused on Shu's particular performance. A spotlight of the world in her mind as he spoke to who was currently a nobody. But had been given Shu's attention. Shu's name. Ai Suishi peaked from behind bushes at the light of her life.

"Name. To-Ma-Ki. Waru-Machi."

The corners of Shu's eyes expanded slightly. He had grown up with people having such an accent his lifetime, as was his own voice subtly tinted with it. This kid however had it bad. Nearly an entirely different dialect of the language that made it hard for him to get his ideas across. This was met with a laughter and a slap on the back of the monk.

"We--"

"Did you say Warumachi?!" It felt like the world was rumbling again. Instead it was a boy who towered over both of them with shoulders as wide as Tomaki's, but was built like two brick shithouses, where the young monk was only one.

Ran Nejima, another member of the Student Council but one who had happened to wander by on his lengthy way back from wherever he had been that morning. The youthful act of medical gloves stuffed into his pocket which no kid or teen could truly resist swiping as long as they were unsupervised.

"Well well well, You turd! Finally showing up after being on my roster all year long!" The agitated kid sneered down at Tomaki of whom temporarily froze up.

"So-rry!" Tomaki blubbered with a smile. He would rub the back of his head if he was capable of it. "First day. In. City. In for-ever!"

The Rugby Star's eyes twitched. "No excuse! Come on man-- You show up and-- You..." Ran noticed for the first moment that Tomaki was missing something that every other kid had around him. Where hands, forearms, biceps would be were merely nubs hanging out from his clothes. The weird kid still had the upper parts of his biceps, but nothing else. Two green bands were tightly tied around them.

"Don't... Have any." Ran coughed and then gulped. "Whatever man." He felt bad for being so cantankerous but was still pissed off. Having to explain why there was a player that was never there was annoying, only to find out he was a cripple who sounded like he just left the mountains yesterday.

"A-Hey hey hey!" Shu slid in. "It's all good, bro. It's his first day. Lets cut him a little slack." He tried to offer.

Before Ran could say anything else, Tomaki had moved.

Moving onto his knee's, Tomaki had bowed deeply. Head on the floor. The display for spectators was just as goofy and weird as was his entrance.

"Tom-aki. Sorry. Was supp-osed arrive. Last year. Year before." He came to a knee. "Do not mean. Offend."

The council members looked at each other and then back at the student. Before laughter burst out of them as well as more students in the crowd. Maybe the original display was just part of this kids weird personality but seeing how he moved, how he used his legs, and how casually formal he was fit together with his outfit. He was wearing part of shrine garb after all. Maybe he was a Hayashi performer after all!

"Come on man don't— Ran waved his hands. "Get up—"

Tomaki obliged, getting up with ease from his knelt position of apology. The three stood there for a moment, as did the stalker girl who had moved to a nearby tree to get a better look at her fixations generosity.

"Just. Whew." Shu wiped a tear from his eye and calmed down himself.

"Welcome to Higan Academy." Council President Shu Jinko. "I think you'll do fine, man. Just. Join the theatre club if you're going to dance around like that."

"And leave the sports club if you can't play." Ran followed up with bluntly.

Tomaki gave them both a look. Whoever they were, they carried themselves with conviction and a sense of royalty that flew widely over Tomaki's head. Multiple students had finally started to crowd and disperse as the ringing of the first school bell layered in the urgency of people being late.

"Ohp" Shu looked at the school. "Well. Everybody! Lets not be late for class! C'mon."

"Ugh." Ran rolled his eyes. "Yeah yeah."

The two started to walk off, as did Shu's carrion crow who hopped from hiding spot to hiding spot.

Left alone in the front of the school, Tomaki stared ahead at the revelry of others who walked with each other to their respective classrooms. Flocks of others formed easily as students found their way to their classes. Tomaki sighed deeply after the moment.

But that was when the world again started to shake and rumble. The tooth hanging from his neck pulsing with recognition as the same voice tumbled on the wind.

"Fool."

Tomaki looked around to find the voice coming from nowhere. Still unsure of this feeling, it hadn't been an issue back home with his family. Why at this school did he hear this odd voice?

"Hello?" Tomaki called out to no response. The air grew tense and thick with lack of understanding as sweat beaded on his brow. Before he spied down at his prized possession.

Then he gazed up towards the school before sneezing again aloud.

All that was wanted that Tomaki could finally advance in school, graduate, and become something truly great for his family. Meeting a taste of the others at the grounds made him hopeful that things would turn out great. But a shroud of unease tickled the back of his mind. It was bare but he swore he could feel something odd about this place. Even the two he had seen earlier felt strange in a way he couldn't describe even if he wanted to try.

Three entire times Tomaki had failed his second year of highschool. Being held back harder and harder made the scrutinous eyes of his family push him from his homeschool environement and finally attend Higan Academy proper. But something in his gut didn't feel quite right.

These feelings however drew a grin across Tomaki's face. When he had failed school before he was by himself. Even if he had wonderful tutors, helpful family. It lacked something that Tomaki loved dearly. Something that he just knew he would find as he stepped across the thresh hold and into the school.

Conflict. Combat. Whoever this voice was. No matter how things went, it was going to be fun.
