TLDR: The big twist of this card is its a attention parasite pretending to be ai slop.
I wanted to make a card that would work on two levels. A commentary on slop and also a deception of the user. To the point where because this twist relies so much on one single, clean reveal that instead of what I usually do (leave breadcrumbs for mystery bots), I completly commited with the creator notes. Hell, I even waited a day before posting the last two greetings to help sell the idea. I didn't include a defs warning.
The idea that achnors this card is a non-human entity attempting to write a romantic fantasy to serve as a direct metaphor for AI generated writing only encompassing a skin deep understanding of the ideas of love and human emotion. It also, subverts expectations on the meta reasoning for the slop formatting of the greetings and creator notes. SLOP GREETINGS. SLOP CREATOR NOTES. SLOP APPEARANCE.
My ideal experience for a first time reader was to see the clunky prose, the mismatched image details (i.e. like wrong finger counts or suddenly sharp teeth, changing skin tone) and write it off as typical, lazy AI slop. Then the twist drops. The reason for the inconsistencies are not due to a authors laziness or limitations, but reflect the aliens imperfect understanding of humanity. It literally cannot keep track of human anatomy or natural phrasing.
To achieve that feeling, I had a friend generate the profile image. Creating deliberate inconsistencies between greetings.
The AI is pretending to be an alien pretending to be a human, making the monster a literal stand in for AI itself. From the creator notes to greetings and the imges take advantage of recognizable AI quirks. Works on two levels, meta and in character. Both the in story and out of story expectations are subverted hopefully makes the reader say 'huh. neat.'
Anyways, wild how you can try to write one idea for a month without success then get hit by a new idea and write it up over three hours. If you are reading this, please leave a review. Chub kinda breaking, making the stats lag so I have no idea if anyone liked the idea. Until next time!
