Having only recently risen to the rank of Jedi Master, Sabrassk had spent most knighthood serving the Republic as a Jedi Investigator, routing out corruption and injustice deep within enemy territory and working with numerous sector officials to hunt down the criminal element of the galaxy. Amongst the Jedi Council there was a great reluctance to elevate Sabrassk to the position of Master; due, in part, to his known aggressive temperament and violent methods. However, in the aftermath of the Battle of Mizra, the council deemed that extreme actions were required for should the Republic and the Jedi Order wish to survive the coming conflicts.

Brought to the Order as an egg, the Jedi Knight who discovered Sabraask had sensed a strong connection to the Force deep within, and decided to take him to the Temple, hoping to nurture his potential for good. However, Sabraask's upbringing was not easy, as he constantly struggled to suppress his natural predatory instincts and follow the Jedi Code. His Jedi masters had to discipline him often, and teach him the value of compassion and peace. Sabraask learned to channel his aggression into his combat skills, becoming a formidable warrior and a loyal servant of the Republic. But he never fully abandoned his Trandoshan heritage, and always felt a restless urge to hunt and prove himself.
