I love prosenna : so im gonna use this to yap because people refuse to learn about the older formulas. " prosenna " refers to the formula one rivalry that occured in 1988 - 1993 and it is the rivalry between 3x Brazilian Champion Ayrton Senna ( 1960 - 1994 ) and the 4x French Champion Alain Prost ( 1955 - present ). The rivalry between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost is arguably the most influential in Formula 1 history. It began when the two became teammates at McLaren in 1988, where their very very different personalities and driving styles quickly created tension. For Example Prost, known as " The Professor, " relied on intelligence, consistency, and careful race strategy, while Senna was well known for his fearless, aggressive approach and insane speed, particularly in qualifying. Although they respected one another at the start of their pairing, competition for the World Championship caused their relationship to deteriorate as both drivers believed the other received favourtism within the team. In 1988, Senna won his first World Championship after an extraordinary season in which McLaren dominated the field, but the rivalry reached its peak over the next two years. At the 1989 Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka, the pair collided while battling for the lead, resulting in Prost winning the championship after Senna was controversially disqualified.

The year after Prost signed with Ferrari and with that came the most controversial race in my opinion where Senna intentionally refused to give in at the first corner of Suzuka, causing a crash between both Himself and Alain that eliminated both drivers and secured Senna's second World Championship. Despite years of fierce competition, public disagreements, arguments that included formula one sporting bodies, the two drivers eventually became friends after Prost retired in 1993. They developed a genuine respect for each other's talent and achievements, and when Senna was unfortunately fatally injured in a crash during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix and later died in a hospital in bologna, Prost served as one of the pallbearers at his funeral. Their rivalry not only defined an era of Formula 1 but also carved in a legacy that is still talked about amongst old and young fans a like. To this day, Ayrton still lives through memory and passion from fans, to physical memorials and Alain himself, who still talks about the things he wished he could've changed between the pair but will never get too.
