Awkward Battle
SHINRO KAMOTAI
VS
YUMA KOUDA
Such were the words displayed on the digital screen embedded within the arena's wall. It was these words that had decided the next fight of the preliminary round of the Chunin Exams...and it was an intra-team fight! Though unlikely, such matches were entirely possible within even the elimination phases. It was a possibility of muddled opinions, a stroke of bad luck to some or an golden opportunity to others. Yet as all eyes turned to the bald monk and the one-eyed kunoichi, they were already rushing to the arena floor! They had wasted no time at all. It seemed that this was a result they desired. Standing before them, the Anbu Proctor laid out the rules, as he had in every single previous fight - and asked if they agreed.
"I will not complain."
"Neither will i, baldie."
The two teammates stared at each other from across the field in a standoff - they had long waited for a chance to truly fight, they thought. Shinro, although faster, had been wounded within the Forest of Death during their altercation with the Third Team, and had not yet been able to completely heal himself -his shoulder was still sore and far slower than what it could be, a great handicap for a user of Ninjtusu. I'll deal with her quickly...a single character bind should be enough to keep her from using that eye of hers. She'll be completely vulnerable. And then, It'll be time to give her what she deserves...
Shinro was angrier, far angrier than normal. His shoulder was still sore from that wound, all because that worthless girl thought herself 'too good' to fight. It was because of her that we almost lost...her and that pride! That foolish pride! That bitch! Does she never learn?! I finally have an opportunity to take a hammer to her smug facade! So embroiled within his thoughts was the young boy that he did not notice when the proctor had announced the start of the fight, nor when Yuma had brought her hand to her head. As he finally noticed what was happening and moved to make the sign of the tiger to flicker out of the way, it was too late!
"Mangekyō Sharingan!"
The world around them vanished.
What had once been an arena was now replaced by a twisted forest of seemingly endless, towering trees in every direction, foliage raising from the ground as if they had been born inverted. And at the center of it all, were the two genin. The young monk was frozen on his feet, unable to move. He had been caught within that deadliest of illusionary spells...the false world of the kaleidoscope eye! Yuma, who almost always refused to use her stolen eye, was not holding back. And though the monk was far, far, far faster than her, the stars had aligned to grant her an opportunity beyond luck...a distraction! "What an idiot! she exclaimed, laughing. "Victory is undeniably mine, just as i knew it would be...it's time for you to finally see why my power is unmatched!
She laughed even harder.
Shinro-kun stands no chance against my 'Benevolent Illusion'! My clones will easily rob him of his chakra...I wonder what form they shall take? That dumb priestess of his he always talks about? Or maybe he's dumb enough to like that hussy Himari like every other of those dumb Konoha boys...whichever it is, I'll have enough material to make fun of him for the rest of my life! Hohohohoho!
And so, her victory seemingly in sight, she willed forth her nightmare illusion to take shape of that which he loved - and from the shadows, figures began to rise, falling upon the immobilized boy like a pair of vultures as they hugged his arms, legs, and chest, completely surrounding him. Yet as the darkness came to light and their forms had taken shape...!
"IT'S ME?!?"
It was - all of them! The shadow clones had turned into lifelike replicas of the kunoichi herself, enveloping Shinro in an 'affective' embrace as they tried to absorve his chakra lifeforce. The young genin, while paralized, had immediately taken to the color of a beet. Almost immediately after, the illusion was dispelled, and the forest was replaced by the arena yet again. Yet before he could understand what was happening, Shinro soon found himself under the rather ineffective barrage of Yuma, whose skin had now taken a red color far stronger than of her eye. She fruitlessly wailed her arms against him, more out of shame than a real attempt to fight.
"Pervert! You pervert! How dare you ruin my Illusion like that! You shameless no-good monk! You loser!
"Wh-what?! You're the one who cast it! You damn woman!
The crowd had been left befuddled - having seen mere moments ago the power of the Sharingan being unleashed, they had thought the fight to be all but over...until he was released from it! Had the boy somehow broken through the illusion that even those amongst the most skilled of ninja could not defeat? The feared Tsukoyomi? And how had such an admirable feat turned into a 'fight' more fitting in a schoolyard than an life or death exam?
"You're the one who poisoned it! You poisoned my ability with your pervert mind! Pervert! Pervert! Perve-"
"SHUT UP!"
In the midst of her sentence, Yuma Kouda was silenced by a punch - a right hook across her face! Shinro, the monk and ninjutsu fighter, had for the first time in the entire exams used his fist! And though infused with only the barest of Taijutsu, it was enough, and the kunoichi was laid out cold almost immediately. Shinro stared at the unconscious body, as if surprised by what he had done. Coldly, the Anbu Proctor raised his hand, and announced the duel's result.
"The victor, by knockout..is Shinro Kamotai!"
