FAQ

Question	Answer
It says that workshop item version is different than the servers.	This is probably because the janny needs to update their mods. Assuming this isn't the reason, unsubscribe from the mod(s) on Steam, and delete the mod in Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\108600. Then, in the workshop folder, delete the 108600 manifest file. Restart steam and try joining the server again. Install the mod like the server requests. If this fails, read this forum post.
Where do I get mods?	The Steam workshop. There is a Spanish Blogspot and a page on Nexus with less than 150 mods. There is also the official IndieStone forum, though it is more useful for learning about modding.
How do I download mods without Steam?	This or this.

This is not a step by step guide. It is just a list of popular and generally useful mods you might like, many of which may have conflicts with eachother. It's up to you to read the mod descriptions to make sure everything is compatible.

Text in red is used to indicate bloat mods. Keep this in mind if you wish to make a modded public server.

Utility

Mod	Description
Mod Options	Allows other mods to be customized. Any mod author can add custom options to their mod.
Mod Manager	Most recently updated mod manager. Multiple built-in translations.
Mod Manager: Server	An extension for the above mod that makes the process of editing server mod lists much easier and faster.
Improved Mod Presets	Mod manager if you have issues with above.
NRK ModSelector	Mod manager if you have issues with above.

Tweaks and Quality of Life

Mod	Description
BetterFPS	Manual install. Some bugs because it is a new release.
Alternative Inventory Rendering	Replaces the existing inventory rendering code with alternative rendering code to get more FPS. It also comes with some new features that could be useful for your Zomboid Run.
Has Been Read	Add the unread mark on the book's icon that has not been read or has been read only halfway. You do not need this if you have the above mod.
MaintenanceFIX	Fixes a Java bug where certain maintenance levels don't actually do anything because of how they coded it.
Better Sorting	Complete overhaul to item categories and various name tweaks.
Manage Containers	Automatically filter and transfer loot.
Craft Helper Continued	Adds a context menu option when right-clicking on any item with associated recipes. Selecting that will bring up a UI with list of recipes that this item is part of, as well as ways to craft this item.
AutoSmoke + smoking improvements	Your character will smoke cigarettes automatically and more.
Rain Wash	Rain washes blood and dirt away. Including the character's body, clothing, equipped bags, equipped and attached weapons, the vehicle your character is in and vehicle attached to it or last used vehicle and vehicle attached to it.
Snow is water	Snow is still water, so Rain Collectors and Metal Barrels will be filled when snowing, just at a slower rate (50%).
More Description for Traits	Adds description to the traits that need it to describe their effects on the character in detail, instead of leaving people guessing with vague sentences.
Clear description for Moodles	Adds description to the moodles that need it to describe their effects on the character in detail, instead of leaving people guessing with vague sentences.
AutoMechanics	Save your wrist the trouble and automate leveling mechanics. Doesn't speed up these actions, just makes it automatic.
AutoSewing	Save your wrist the trouble and automate leveling sewing. Doesn't speed up these actions, just makes it automatic.
bikinitools	Similar to AutoSewing and AutoMechanics where it adds a lot of QOL actions like looting an area or moving all corpses in an area instead of having to click each individual container/body. Doesn't speed up these actions, just makes it automatic.
Water Dispenser	Lets you take the actual jugs off water dispensers instead of the full thing, and they work as actual containers.
Just Throw Them Out The Window	Throw corpses out windows.
Louisville Spawnpoints	Adds about 26 spawnpoints in Louisville. The game isn't supposed to have spawns in Louisville, because in the lore it is meant to still be 'alive' during the start of the outbreak
Recycle And Reuse Almost Everything	Around 100 new recipes for recycling and crafting less useful stuff into more useful stuff.
Better Hand Wash	Makes it so things like socks don't need the same amount of water to wash as compared to a bloody jacket. Apparently has compatibility issues.
4 Colour Bic Pen	Multiple color pen if you're autistic like me and insist on having one of each pen color in your inventry. This is the "fixed" version because the original mod adds an immersion breaking OP item spawn and the option to disable it is broken. Get the original if you don't mind this.
Faster Hood Opening	Makes the hood opening faster.

User Interface

Mod	Description
Weapon Condition Indicator	The mod shows the condition of a weapon attached to the hotbar, and many other useful features.
Minimal Display Bars	Minimal display bars for autists. Immersion breaking and shows you the exact amount of exhaustion, hunger etc you have.
Extra Map Symbols	Additional map symbols, change size of symbols/text, allows to use crayons for adding symbols to maps, etc.
Cartography Modifier	Via the sandbox options, you can define several parameters on the rendering of the structures of the map and the minimap.
Map Legend UI	Adds a legend from old town maps to the in-game world map.
Backpack Borders	Small UI tweak that adds a background and border to the container buttons in Zomboid's inventory windows.

Multiplayer

Mod	Description
Expanded Hotwire	Allows you to unhotwire vehicles, craft car keys, tweak every skill requirement and action duration.
Chat Bubble v0.6	A small chat bubble will be displayed above your head when you start typing in MP.
Defecation	Players will need to shit.
Aza's Flags	Comes with heckin' valid pride flags for you and your trans xisters enjoyment!

Additions

Mod	Description
The Only Cure	If you're bitten on one of your limbs, you can saw them off. You can also start the game as an amputee and find prosthetics.
Project Humanoid	You have to join some tranny Discord to get it last I checked. It's gonna get updated so just Google Altrion or Youtube Project Humanoid. Will fill in with link to latest version later.
Expanded Helicopter Events	Replaces the vanilla helicopter event with a more dynamic suite of events which is both challenging and fair. Tweak this to your liking.
Soul Filcher's Awesome Time	Pack containing most Soul Filcher mods.
10 Years Later	Maps ravaged by vegetation. Makes your world look lived in.
Barricaded World - Extended Erosion	Alternative to the above mod.
Horde Night	Helicopter event on steroids that is actually challenging.
Night Sprinters	Zombies will sprint at night giving a better balance for those who don't want sprinters all the time and gives the night something to truly fear.
Zombies Fear The Sun	Makes zombies seek indoors and go inactive at day time. The zombies go indoors in the morning, and wake up at night, based on time of year. If you hit a zombie that is docile, it will temporarily wake up along with nearby zombies. On high population zombies will sardine inside of houses, providing extra challenge.
Propane and Gasoline	Create propane and gasoline.
Simple Overhaul: Blades and Spears	Makes spears not have weird condition values and makes combining spears with weapons useful. Also buffs short blades and removes dumbass features like a long one-hit animation that is random and can just get you killed outright.
Better Engineer	Makes Engineer not a useless waste of time that shouldn't exist. Makes engineer the dedicated horde moving/killing class where bombs and traps are useful. Has a separate mod designed for usage in MP.
Computer Games & Command Line Interface	Vidya inside of vidya.
Computer	Vidyaception.
Colorful Life	Adds more spawns for all colored light bulbs without overriding other important items. Increases the number of all colored light bulbs that spawn without excess.
HydroCraft	`Overwhelming bloat.` I unironically still see people using this so I'm adding it anyways if you're a gay retard.

Weapons, Armor & Clothing

Mod	Description
VANILLA FIREARMS EXPANSION (B41)	Replaces the models, textures and names of nearly all vanilla firearms, attachments, ammunition and magazines. It also adds several new lore-friendly weapons and items. Makes rifles more useful and improves usefulness of different ammo types. Improves weapons with magazines because it changes how jamming works.
Firearms B41	Overall firearms overhaul.
The Workshop	Requirement for the 3 below mods. More crafting features and you can disassemble any metallic vanilla item in the game to get small amounts of metal scrap. Speeds up leveling metalworking if you know how to cheese it.
Scrap Weapons	This mod adds a ton of new post apocalyptic/homemade melee weapons.
Scrap Armor	This mod adds some new post apocalyptic/homemade Armor.
Scrap Guns	Adds Handmade Guns, Grenades and Bugfixes to the game.
Brita's Weapon Pack	`Filesize and content bloat if you don't touch the settings.` Otherwise workable. Ammo shells actually drop, which you might like.
Arsenal[26] GunFighter Mod [2.0]	Required for above mod.
Brita's Armor Pack	`Filesize bloat.` Unironically has Calvin Klein underwear.
Authentic Z	This mod adds a variety of zones into the game which gives zombies outfits to match their surroundings. It also adds over 150 custom outfits which are appropriately placed on zombies in the world.
This mod uses weird gay furry art as its cover image.. Clothes BOX (41)	Very similar to Authentic Z. Clothes for you and the zombies.
Military Ponchos	Adds a new Military style poncho to the game. Can be worn in two different styles both with hood up or down options.
Advanced trajectory	You can actually aim guns and throwables yourself, and see the trajectory of bullets. It also makes pistols usable at low levels. It's very fun.

Music and Animations

Mod	Description
True Music	Boomboxes, cassettes and vinyl with collectable music. Allows all users to add their music to the game. In addition, you can add your own vinyl covers.
Time-Period Accurate Music	`Filesize bloat.` Addon for the above mod. Adds 220 time-period accurate tracks.
True Actions. Act 1 & 2 - Sitting & Lying	Sit and lie down on objects.
True Actions. Act 3 - Dancing	Dancing animations.
True Actions. Act 3+. Dancing on VHS	Same as above, but has the dances on VHS.
Survivor Radio	Radio system with music, tv, etc. Developer doesn't plan to fix the numerous issues it has.

Cheat Mods

Mod	Description
Antibodies	You can potentially survive zombie infection by staying happy and well fed.
They Knew	Search the map for a new rare zombie that has a medicine for the zombie infection on them. The spawn rate is configurable in the Sandbox Variables.
Zombie Cure & Suppression	You can craft a cure and a suppressor with first aid level 7 and some rare items.
Skill Recovery Journal	You can craft a journal to write your skills in and reread after you die. Editable so you can only recover a small amount of your previous XP to punish yourself upon death.
Cheat Menu: Rebirth	Basic cheat menu. Despite what some might say the game is buggy and you may get fucked over at times.

Archived Mods

It is recommended that you archive every mod you enjoy.

Mod developers are known to be highly sensitive and will delete everything at the drop of a hat. If you have a previously deleted mod still saved, share it and it will be added to this section.
