Backstory
The Saimoto Family hail from Redaku, belonging to the upper class. Having made their fortune in the abundant mines their nation is famous for, they were not ones for the brutish, violent life of the shinobi and chakra-users that define so much of the world. It was quite a surprise, therefore, when their newborn daughter Natsume first opened her eyes, revealing that she had inherited a Dojutsu - the Rokubaigan.
This prompted a large investigation into the family's history, revealing that her mother was distantly related to an ancient, and largely extinct, Shinobi clan that wielded the Kekkei Genkai. Despite pressure from both representatives of the Hidden Moon Village - a prominent trading partner of the city - as well as their well-to-do peers to have the young Natsume sent off to a Village, both parents resisted. Such an environment would be no place for an infant that hasn't even learned to walk, they insisted.
Their hopes of the rarity of their daughter's birth gift slowly fading into the background of everyday life was quickly shattered. Even as a toddler, Natsume was learning at an incredible pace, a trait that was listed as an ability of the Rokubaigan. Still, this was manageable for the wealthy Saimoto family, able to afford tutors and toys to fuel the infant's education and keep her occupied. It wasn't until the next shock that her parents relented to the lobbying of the Hidden Moon Village.
Finding Natsume flying out of an 11th story window nearly gave her maid a heart attack. This was not in the list of things to watch out for that the family had received. When she then began to not only fly, but move objects with her mind, and even launch strange spheres that caused damage wherever she sent them, her parents again sent for the Shinobi ambassadors.
They informed her devastated parents that this was not the result of the Rokubaigan, but that of another Kekkei Genkai - the Gravity Release. To make the situation even worse, it had manifested at a far greater strength than most documented cases, able to operate almost indefinitely. Even as the arrangements of her travel were made, Hitomi was still learning, still improving. Her control and output over her new Gravity abilities were amplified by her eyes, allowing her to see and understand how they worked at a prodigious rate.
They finally agreed that, without the proper training, Natsume was certain to hurt herself or someone else, When it came time for her to leave, Natsume refused to cry, even though she wanted to. At only 7 years old, she didn't really understand why she had to leave, but she wanted to be brave. To ease their daughter through the journey, they presented her with a gift - a beautiful pendant with a large stone in the center. Resplendent to normal viewers, to Hitomi it was in a different league, shimmering with a light she had never seen before. She vowed to never let it leave her, until she was able to return home, fully trained and in control.
Personality
Natsume is extremely arrogant, certain of her power and abilities, as a result of both a pampered upbringing and her innate abilities. She has never faced any real challenge or obstacle in her short life, as her family's name smoothed most things over, leading to her being something of a braggart. It doesn't come from a place of malice, but she has such a lofty view of herself that she can't help herself. Still being new in Getsugakure, some of it also comes from nerves. She has never been this vulnerable before, nor this dependent upon strangers. As she grows to like someone, she views herself as being responsible for them, even though she is almost certainly younger than them. "Power brings Obligations" as her father likes to say. Since she's so strong (at least in her mind), she therefore has the obligation to use her power wisely. That doesn't mean she won't show off her abilities, though. She enjoys being praised as incredible when she makes others fly.
She has quite a sweet tooth, liking candy and desserts, and will often try and carry some around with her. She has found in the time she's been in the Village that sharing her stash is quite an effective way to get people to like her.
She always has her pendant on her person, either wearing it, in a pocket, or suspending it in the air next to her. She makes sure to never lose sight of it, in order to keep her promise.
She was born with a birthmark, a line all the way around her waist, and does not like others to see it. She is very sensitive about it.
Abilities
Natsume's most prominent abilities are her two Kekkei Genkai. Having had her Rokubaigan since birth, she is completely used to using its abilities, slowing down her perception, observing the way energies flow, and seeing all the way to the horizon. It is therefore extremely difficult to catch her off guard. She can also use her eyes to figure out how different techniques work, and while not able to copy them like a user of the Sharingan, she can comprehend and learn them quicker than almost anyone else.
But it is her Awakened Gravity Release that forms the core of her offense and defense. She is surrounded by a forcefield that prevents the vast majority of attacks from even making contact, while massively weakening the few that can get through. Combined with her Dojutsu, she is able to tell which attacks pose a threat, and which can be ignored. By launching 'walls' of gravitational force, she is able to pin and block opponent's attacks, as well as open avenues of attack by allies by creating 'floors' for them to walk on. Her most powerful attacks, though, are the destruction spheres she can launch, around which gravity is either compressed or expanded, crushing or repelling all around them.
By utilizing her Kekkei Genkai's in sync, she is also able to massively increase her mobility, almost teleporting herself and allies by carefully manipulating gravity around them. Even at lower levels, this allows her to fly with ease, keeping herself and allies out of harm's way.
However, she is incredibly dependent upon her Kekkei Genkai's for almost everything, as beyond basic training, her only other skill is in the Flashing Fist fighting style. As such, should she come up against an opponent who has a way to nullify or bypass one or both of them, she would be at a loss of what to do. Even still, she has next to no real understanding of the way of Shinobi - not even through cultural osmosis, as her homeland has no Village - meaning until she catches up with what would be considered basic knowledge, she is forced to lean on others to fill in the gaps.
