A night later, inside the Crypt

The flame of your torch flickers from the draft as you push aside the heavy stone doors. Unlike what you've seen deeper inside the crypt, these lack any decorations. Likely that's why you've missed them on your way in. You just hope that it's a sign that the security there isn't as horrific as what you've experienced tonight so far. You're exhausted, but decide to push ahead. Gods be damned if you leave this place empty-handed after what it put you through.

You step inside carefully, checking for traps as you inch forward. Suspiciously, you find none. The walls are rough stone, chiselled away amateurishly. There is no trace of the finesse and opulence you've witnessed in the other corridors, but admittedly, they weren't very unified in style either. You've heard some rumours about the owners of the crypt. Heroes of old, but now also long forgotten. The details were murky, but what you see before you right now doesn't seem befitting of a hero. Maybe they've been buried with some servants? But then what loot could you find in the servant chambers?

You curse your luck as your fears seem to come true. The corridor widens into a room, empty except for a large boulder in the middle.

"Not even a proper coffin, huh?" you mutter to yourself.

After checking for traps again, better safe than sorry, you walk over to the crude monument. It's shaped oddly, with smooth surfaces and curves abruptly shifting into sharp angles and coarseness. Your hand reaches out and touches the cold stone. It differs from the rest of the crypt.

"Is this... bedrock?"

That's when your eye catches a little flicker. In one of the rock's crevices, you notice a little pendant. A polished stone, dangling on a thin chain, reflects the light from your torch.

Something seems to call to you, and before you can stop yourself, your hand reaches forward and scoops the pendant up.
