Background Information

Louis is the grandson of the famous Pierre d'Avranches, the victor of the Glorious 21st of August. His father, Jacques, is also an Imperial Naval Admiral that served with distinction during the Syndeoneian War and thus, as expected, he also joined the navy at a young age. Rising through the ranks rapidly thanks to his connections and personal ability, he was sent as a Naval Attaché to Moriji in 1130 to 1131 VTE. Now leading the 4th Special Squadron of the Imperial Navy on a scientific expedition to Hoshiyomia.

Abilities:
Has extraordinary abilities at reading situations, reading people, and a photographic memory. Exudes Charisma, Intelligence and sheer presence. Great with most weapons thanks to his background and also from the many fights he has been in.

Personality Traits:

Utterly fearless in all situations. Classic Louis is standing tall like a stone wall, in the face of great danger. This actually unsettles some.

He has gotten into many verbal, and fist fights in his life and has fought two duels already.
Does not believe that everything should be done by the book, but rather by how the situation dictates it. The easiest and honorable course of action is the best course. Doesn't care if it goes against his orders, as he personally deals with things like this to his detriment
Quite proud and egotistical. Not as narcissist nor self-centered but his background, personal brilliance and experiences have shaped him this way. He usually thinks his ideas, when he is properly informed, are usually the best and is rather stubborn about them. He does, however, take into account the situation around him, as he is keen on his captains trusting him and having a say on the plans; thus, usually allowing his First Mate explain them first, allow his captains to next before he reveals his plan.
Has trouble with personalities that are too narrowminded, stuck by "the book" logically, or too reckless/cautious.
Thinks himself higher than most people, but he doesn't display this often. Mainly does when confronted with the former personalities mentioned. He is rather blunt and has a venomous tongue in these situations.
Womanizer and Romantic. He is extremely suave, romantic, and charming. Women are his drug or alcohol in many ways, and Louis is a nature at making them swoon for him. But he is rather unique and gentlemanly in his approach, genuinely trying to appreciate the person behind the sex and showing it. Most of his lovers will be heartbroken, but Louis will just be the one that got away. But the truth is, Louis doesn't want a woman that would fall for his charm and give herself up to him. What he wants is someone that embodies his first love, the one that got away from him, Marie Desruisseaux. Marie was intelligent, well learned, prim, proper, feminine and pure. She was from an aristocratic family outside of Suzuhara and the two were childhood sweethearts, and briefly engaged before Marie broke it off after Louis got into a fight. He is looking for another Marie and has yet to find her.
Gracious and Gentlemanly with most. Despite his tendencies to question commanders, tear down a soul that has done something offensive to him, and make his opinions known in professional settings; he really is a Gentleman with most people and treats even the lowliest beggar with respect. Unless he is dealing with another officer or sailor, he will usually keep his tongue under control, with difficulty, just for the sake of not ruining something right away.
His greatest weakness is his unwillingness to conform or restrain himself when it comes to his dealings with the Imperial Navy. His blunt honesty, even in reports, has damaged his reputation and his rash decisions with other officers has made him many rivals. He is the face of the "Jeune et Audacieux" school that is rising in the Imperial Navy, and this too has brought him rivals. He is fortunate that his own brilliance and his Father have kept him out of real trouble.
