Lai Lan and Lai Lin are twin brother and sister born under the Lai clan, a minor clan in the Southern Territory. After falling ill from being taught cultivation methods that were mismatched from their foundations thanks to being mistaken for one another, they were taught an ancient cultivation technique which helped them recover at the cost of their souls being bound to each other (not that they minded). Once becoming of age, they were sent by the patriarch of the Lai clan to enter the Imperial Examination to become magistrates under the Jin empire. They were not only able to pass with flying colours, but they were able to rise in rank fairly quick. Their superiors would come to resent and fear their sudden ascent, and now send them on dangerous missions, expecting them to die. They have been sent to not only investigate rumors about the coming of a new Devilgod, but to also support the hounds in pursuing those that the Jin hunt.

A technique which nearly fell to complete obscurity due to the strict requirements needed to practice it. Two Bodies One Soul requires two cultivators whose Qi are aligned to opposing sides and for both to be of similar mind. When practiced, the cultivators must be in perfect harmony in order to properly circulate their dissonant Qi between each other. Once learned, the cultivators must maintain constant physical contact as their Qi are now bound in constant flow. If they separate, the circulation is broken and can cause complications after some time.

(-3) Earth-Rank Defensive[Unending Cycle - Return to Harmony]
With the twins' Qi in constant circulation, they were taught how to assimilate external Qi into their own flow, allowing them to mitigate damage from attacks. However, as this requires a strong circulation, this can only be used when they are in physical contact and the twin closest to the attack's alignment must be the one to absorb it.

By perfectly synchronizing their attacks together with both coming into physical contact at the same time with their opponent, they can include their opponent into their circulation of Qi, disrupting their opponent's Qi flow with their own.

A cooperative fighting style developed by the twins. One twin, an active striker, engages the opponent with agile and sudden attacks. The other twin, acts as a passive anchor, slow, methodical, vigilant, but not any less a threat, seeking for the right time to make coordinated strikes with the faster twin. While Lai Lan is typically the passive twin and Lai Lin is active, they can alternate with each other for unpredictability.

Whereas Lai Lan is the calmer and more cautious of the two, Lai Lin is explosive and impulsive. The former is more talented in intellectual pursuits, while the latter is more talented in the physical. Yet somehow, despite their vastly dissonant personalities, they are more in harmony than most pairs could ever hope to become.
