Hunter x Hunter

Abstract

Hunter x Hunter (HxH) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Yoshihiro Togashi. Hunter x Hunter follows the story of a young boy, Gon Freecss, who has made it his goal to follow into his fathers footsteps, Ging Freecss, who at first for his entire childhood until he turned 12 assumed to be dead when he was then told he had actually gone and become a renowned Hunter. Within the Hunter x Hunter verse, Hunters are described to be exceptional at their licenced profession, to which motivates Gon to take and pass the Hunter exam in order to hopefully find and meet his father who had been absent all his life.

Gist

Hunter x Hunter is an ongoing series which consists of the (1998) manga as the main source to which currently as of October 2024, has 38 volumes and overall 404 chapters. The series has had an adaptation to the (1999) TV series that includes 62 episodes airing from 1999 to 2001 as well as the (2011) TV series that includes 149 episodes airing from 2011 to 2014.

Why?

This media has been one of my most favorite shows of all time for it's amazingly written storyline, unique arcs, well-developed characters, and themes. I hope to get others to indulge in HxH with this guide!
