Yue Relationship Chart

DISCIPLES:

Yana Wiyen

As one person that's lost their home to another, Yue certainly feels for Yana. Even supposing she put her tribe to the sword herself, the feeling of fighting your own nation isn't foreign to her, although their standings and circumstances certainly differed... Granted Yue isn't too open about her previous life, so she keeps that sympathy to herself and sticks to being friendly instead.
"Hey there chaste little sister, we saber users need to stick together! Sword users around here are getting uppity lately. If we aren't careful they'll gang up and pick us off one by one... Especially that tsundere fellow, Yunyun."

10/10 friend material in Yue's opinion. Very laid back, no filter on his words and in spite of his sheepishness he's confident in himself and his actions. She has no intention of ever sparring with him though. That's a dangerous game she doesn't want to play.
"Charming fellow. Currently studying a grade 1 wind element technique to find out what's under his bangs. I heard that Yunyun and Shizi got to see and I'm honestly very jealous. The way we met was pretty funny by the way. First lecture before the other new kids started to flood in, teacher asked the new kids why we came to his class. I boldly said I was there to have fun and play around- got kicked out of the classroom without so much as a hoot. Shortly after Xu showed up saying he showed himself out since his answer wasn't that different.

Shi Rèn

Shi Ren certainly brings the idea of bad luck to a new extreme. Yue herself isn't beloved by the heavens by any means, but she isn't actively assaulted by the heavens either. His tenacity and optimism is certainly endearing enough, so much so that Yue is willing to look beyond his eccentric nature.
"There's a fine line between enlightenment and insanity, and I'm not quite sure which side Shi Ren fell on. He's a nice enough fellow though. Perhaps he fell directly on the divide and could still fall either way. I wonder what he was like before... Or was he just born a little crazy?"

Shīzi Dànshēng

Diligent, yet laid back. Valiant, yet gentle. Shizi's a very well balanced and likeable fellow in Yue's opinion. She doesn't particularly think anything of his animal features, seeing them as neither good nor bad. Perhaps his only flaw is being a little too into sparring.
"A good mix of serious and laid back. When we were going to spar I suggested we do a dance-off instead and I could practically hear the gears turning in his head. I think he would have agreed if someone else hadn't interfered... Now I'm really curious what his dance moves are like..."

Taizhou Xiu'Er

Admiring the stories of heroes and wanting to follow in their footsteps is about as human a story as you'll ever find. Yue naturally has nothing but approval for his ambitions. She hopes he can survive in the ruthless world of cultivation without losing sight of the innocent heart he currently has.
"No matter how many times I did business with them, the All-Secrets Pavilion is still a little creepy. Especially the Mortal Secrets Branch, which thankfully Taizhou isn't from. He knows a lot of cool stories though... I don't suppose he knows about 'me'?"

Ageratum

As someone who spent a very long life at the head of a nation, Yue's extremely sensitive to manipulative people. Ageratum's at least a few hundred years too young to be pulling tricks on her... Of course, being too direct will only make him wary. Better to play the part of a fool who can't be controlled until he gets bored of her.
"...Bleh, I'm having flashbacks to the son of this one general. Every action calculated, his eyes always watching for every little detail. You could tell that in his head, he thought his actions were subtle and that other people believed him to be a perfect gentleman... At least this Ageratum fellow isn't scanning my body line constantly..."

Dong Fuai

Dong Fuai's goal of spreading knowledge wide and far is certainly a self-sacrificing one. It'll bring him nothing, and might not even do much for the world either. Yet he toils away regardless. Yue finds his goals respectable, but isn't otherwise that interested. The scope of his ambitions are more than she cares to deal with.
"I tend to forget due to all the brawlers, but this really is a library isn't it? Makes sense that it'd draw in the scholarly types. I wonder if he's eyeing the teaching positions here?"

Saya Kurokami

Yue doesn't fear Saya per se, but she dislikes getting dragged into meaningless conflict. The pursuit of martial perfection of admirable and all, but that's a personal struggle (A.K.A. not Yue's problem). Doesn't help that she doesn't freak out quite like Yunyun does, so teasing Saya would be a thankless endeavor.
"Hmm... This is certainly a dangerous person... I think I'll just... Go the other direction..."

Tian

A scholar in a library is hardly an odd sight, but few scholars are devotes of Sword Tao. Most would seek something more peaceful, or at least more esoteric. Even so he takes to it well, blending the gentleman's path of scholars with the warrior's path of the sword. His swordsmanship is upright, honest, and profound. Yue finds him to be good company, if a bit too diligent.
"Always so serious... Tian's a very curious person. I must be the hundredth person that follows the Tao of freedom he's asked, but he still diligently asked away- even took notes! For a moment there I felt like a teacher giving a lecture again, but that can't be? I am but a young maiden, a delicate flower in the spring! (It's not like other people count their past lives when calculating their ages, so why should I?)"

Zhimin

Zhimin's nearly ideal as far as friends go. Yue isn't into swords sadly, but the two have plenty more to bond over; adventure, food, pranks, food, getting scolded, food... The two will certainly get into all kinds of mischief together. There's little hardship to be found in this world when a good friend is there to share in weal and woe.
"Ah, my good sister~ Her only flaw is her poor figure. I'm afraid to say that I like my pointy metal sticks much bigger and curvier. I don't really get what Tian, Yunyun and the others see in the metal toothpicks they call a sword.... Uh... Don't tell Zhimin I said this. Or Hongxing for that matter. I feel like they'll stab me."

Gale

Zephyr is... A thing that exists. Not evil, but not good either. Yue finds it's better to treat him like the wind that guides him. Gale on the other hand is nice guy. He's certainly a free spirit that understands the charms of adventure.
"What a fluffy fellow... You'd think he has his heads in the clouds, but he's actually quite down to earth... Hmm... I'm not cut out for those kinds of jokes it seems..."

Alkaios

Yue finds Alkaios to be a pleasant enough guy. Certainly generous and kind to the poor. Which is to say she likes to bring him along to restaurants and food stalls to make use of his skirt chasing, spendthrift nature. (Not to say she doesn't genuinely like his company.) In return, if he needs any help adjusting to this new, hostile environment, she's happy to offer some advice. The sincere, non-prank kind of advice.
(A prince that's allowed to just roam off to who knows where in search of adventure, rather than being stuck in the palace all day doing paperwork and talking to nobles? I feel like I got scammed. The kings from his nation know what's up.)

Hóngxīng

Yue isn't sure what to think of Hongxing... It's fairly clear that she's a less than benevolent entity... But she's also funny. Ultimately Yue's carefree nature wins out, with her viewing Hongxing in a good light, thinking that as time passes better people of the sect will rub off on her. Regardless, Yue's not a sword user, so wielding Hongxing isn't among her considerations.
"Apparently the part about not using her for cooking is accurate. I still have a few scars to prove it."

Zheng Yao

While Yue isn't much of a Buddhist, she's still a Buddhist cultivator, and she's more familiar with Saint Cultivation than most... It's... An awkward thing in the current era. It should be respected, but instead invites ridicule. It should help make the world a better place by spreading forgiveness, but instead of demonstrates the cost of mercy and spreads cynicism instead. To be blunt, Yue finds saints to be well-intended but foolish. She wishes Zheng Yao well in spite of it however.
"He IS certainly a saint, the aura feels a lot like the ones from back home, but... It feels a bit off. Incomplete. I can't help but wonder if he himself actually wanted to be a saint..."

Zhou Yun

She heard the name 'Yunyun' from Xu and happily adopted it. Yue finds his prickly nature endearing, and quite happily pisses him off without an ounce of fear. Putting aside his lack of righteousness, deep down she does respect his devotion to the sword and hopes it leads him to become a respectable expert instead of just another monster.
"Yunyun~~~!" "What now, you wretch!?" "Sabers are better than swords!" "Courting death!!! Get back here!"

Yue

"That would be me. I happen to think I'm pretty cool by the way."

Tora

Yue hasn't quite gotten a handle on Tora's personality yet. Clearly the girl likes getting stronger and getting into fights, but Yue herself doesn't care too much about combat. Yet outside of combat, Tora's just... listless. For the time being, Yue is curious about her, hoping there's more to see than a combat fanatic.
"What a small world. Her fighting style is a little like mine, just more direct. Not many people appreciate the mix-up potential of hand-to-hand combat with a giant metal stick. It's a shame I'm not more into sparring, I suppose."

Batudai

Batudai is a deeply awkward person, that's for certain. Yue finds him rather painful to watch, always denying himself what he wants. She feels for him from the bottom of her heart, but doesn't think she can really do anything for him. In her opinion, his true struggle goes deeper than just making friends- he needs to forgive and accept himself. No one can really help him with that.
"Makes me want to drag him back to the temple so the Abbot can sort him out... It's not that there's anything wrong with wanting a place to belong or anything, but often times one needs to let go and relax. It's ones own obsessions that blind them to happiness..."

Liang Shen

Liang Shen's story is one as expected as it is unfortunate. As nice as it sounds to be talented and dazzling, if your goals don't align with the previous generation it'll only make you a threat instead of getting your voice heard. Even so, he survived and has his whole life to turn the tables. Yue isn't too keen on getting pulled into his struggle, but she'd like to do what she can for him in her capacity as fellow members of the same sect.
"I get you friend, I truly do... Good leadership in empires is so hard to find these days. When they finally get someone talented and good natured, they run them out of the empire instead. It's like they fear being successful."

Méi Xiǎnyuè

Yue feels that Xianxue and herself will get along quite well. She finds her friendly and easy-going nature relatable, although her naivety is concerning. Yue will do what she can to play the part of a helpful older sister... assuming she can resist the temptation to play pranks on Xianyue instead.
"Another fair maiden with the character "Yue" in her name? Surely it's some kind of fate. The Yue tribe needs to stick together. Any interest in learning to wield a saber?"

ELDERS:

Yèwǎn

Yue suspects that her antics are less than popular with her avian elder, but she has nothing but respect for him. A teacher for a day is a father for life, and Yewan has dedicated his life to selflessly enlightening others. She only hopes that his other students understand and appreciate the weight of that responsibility.
"...I won't lie... I want to floof his feathers..."

Yue Qianli

Another rare case of a cultivator that chose the saber over the sword, and one that's walked a wee bit further down that path than someone her age should have- especially so for someone who's Tao is unrelated to the Saber Tao. Seems the rumor of her being reincarnated was accurate... (Not that Yue's too surprised by it.) Regardless, she's an excellent teachers aid and a nice enough person.
"She has a wonderful name by the way. I like to call her Dayue (Big Yue). That'd make me Xiaoyue (Little Yue)."

Zào Zhēn

Yue sees great ambition and diligence in Zao Zhen, and a talent that exceeds the definition of a mortal in spite of technically being one. Ultimately she sees Zao Zhen as an aberrant cultivator rather than a mortal. Yue has mixed feelings towards the idea of improving the standings of mortals- not because she finds mortals underserving, but because she fears that a higher standing will simply make them targets of yet greater abuse. Philosophy aside, she thinks Zao Zhen is a pleasant person and an excellent teacher, especially as pertains to profession techniques.
"A woman who struggles with being seen as too young... What an odd dilemma... She doesn't really look that young of course, but most people assume disciple when they notice her lack of cultivation. Physical age is always unreliable when cultivation is involved."

ANCESTORS:

Wen Wanroe

Yue holds the all too popular opinion than Wanroe is a menace. Should the woman die, the world would clearly be a better place and the people of her nation would for once in their lives celebrate in earnest. However, such monsters are all too common. She doesn't see any sense it making one out to be a bigger problem than the rest.
"...I know not this Empress Yue you speak of, senior. Though surely she was a tragic figure, virtuous and kind, overflowing with beauty, etc etc. I may be her equal in many ways, but surely you have the wrong person."
"(If all else fails I'll spread some embarrassing stories about your youth far and wide out of spite. I'll do it! Really! I, your aunt, might be weak, but I've got stories for days! If you don't fear death then give me back the imperial seal and we'll trade a thousand blows!)" -Suffice to say Yue's still quite hostile after the whole coup thing.

Húndàn

Empress Yue was alive around the time Hundan (2.0) was making his rise as a famous young genius. Even then she'd heard he was... eccentric. A thousand years later and it seems that eccentric nature has only gotten worse, or perhaps he simply stopped holding himself back once he reached the peak. Yue herself isn't especially interested in the man.
"Ehh... So that kid grew up, did he? Truly a case of 'the virtuous die young, but calamities last for a thousand years'."
