Backing up! Onmyōdō is what separated the Spirit World from our world, so to break the boundary open again, you need onmyōji thinking. But that would take like a thousand years of oral tradition and, like, that still wouldn't help at all? Without the Spirit World, these techniques don't even work, so those temple secrets aren't based on... anything.

But the most basic parts are pretty easy, and everything else comes from there, yeah? It's like, yin, yang, and the five elements are the only things those complicated divinations really use. So, if the balance of the elements is all screwed up, the boundary should start to crack.

With Suishi-san as the corrupt Yin, and the other one as the corrupt Yang, they should make the biggest Bleeding Zone possible!

But it also sounds totally impossible, so symbolic items come in for the rescue. They should have something that represents them deeply enough to use in a ritual. And maybe other students could, like, represent the five elements in inversion? Symbolically... Maybe if...

The Student Counsel

Scary... Some of the smartest, most capable, and most popular kids in the whole school. Even worse, every single one has an Idolon, and each of them is probably a looooot stronger than mine. Even Nurarihyon-sama said that they were big threats, and if they're dangerous to a 5 Star Secret Rare Yokai... They're really scary.

Shu-kun is the most popular student in all of Higan, it's not even close, and you just need to see him once to see why. Have you been looking, ghost-chan? I do it too.

But as a student counsel president, he hasn't been all that successful? He got a crazy number of votes for prez, but ever since then, the student counsel has been hanging out with creepy types, and that makes normal students (normal for Higan...) nervous. The counsel hasn't done anything about it, maybe they don't even know since their popularity forcefield don't let in any bad news, but if they hang out with, like, the Census club head and act all friendly, the students who've been harassed are going to start disliking them, too! Appealing to the lumpenproles only alienates the proletaria The Census club is having bad side effects.

People like her are the most annoying ones. No, you can't 'see from my perspective', you don't 'get it', you can stop trying to buddy up. Going around playing at friends with everybody? Gross. Satisfying your urge to busybody on everybody around doesn't make you a "good friend", and throwing away something you're actually good at just makes you an idiot - but if you're a pretty popular girl, even that's just a conversation starter. It's really just too unfair.

She must have a bokken or shinai or something from back when she was a dojo star. Abandoned items make for tsukumogami, and a tool with a grudge would be incredibly powerful for ritual arts.

Mihama-chan

Ghost-chan, are you wondering what's a yokai doing on the student counsel too?
Well, she's not a zashiki-warashi, but she might be a european "garden gnome". They have cones on their head, and Mihama-chan has two of them. Maybe they let her in because fairies seem nice?

...Even total strangers can get caught up in her aura. Her ego is twice the size she is, and she's a rich brat too, but being so short and helpless makes it hard to feel too annoyed. That's a talent in itself. Still, it's nice that she's way over there. Between her and Onguuchi-san, the counsel really would be the worst place ever.

She builds things, so maybe something she's made would make for a good symbol? A gift she makes for somebody, that should be pretty powerful.

That scouting power is reaaaaally dangerous. If she's in a Bleeding Zone, she can even feel something hidden by Hollow Dusk's shadows. Without that tip from my ally, it would have been over right there.

Nejima-san

Did... did the school ever vote on this guy? He looks like he's yakuza, or killed a yakuza, maybe. Is this the sort of face Higan wanted in the student counsel?
He seems pretty distant from everything, so there's not much to know about him, but it's super obvious that he's loyal to Shu-kun. At least his taste in friends is good? Is that a positive?

If he has something he puts a lot of energy into, he doesn't have it at school. The only thing that would be strongly linked is his bro Humans as a ritual tool? That's just... super messed up. Sorry ghost-chan, I won't write that again.

Pretty weird color scheme for an Idolon, but his tokusatsu theme matches with Prez. Could they have a giant robo? Something like that surely exists in the Idea World, and it'd be kinda cool to see it.

Dating? Enemy Lines
He seems like a decent guy, but he's on the student counsel, and unlike the super nice Shu, he definitely wouldn't think twice between bashing a yokai's face in. Losing my face in the real world too is a little much...

Zennami-San

She's so smug in being a genius, in being popular, in being one centimeter taller...
But she doesn't even realize that the enemy is in the same class as her. So much for the 'super detective', hehehe.
Being smug doesn't suit my face though, so if she figures it out, the favor still wouldn't be returned. That just seems so unfair...

She's clearly a water element type. Maybe one of her successful case files would be a good ritual ingredient. Or an ongoing case? If she's solving a case about something, couldn't that be symbolism too?

Yakuza Wannabes

They're violent and hurt people, but if the Student Counsel says they only hurt bad people, we're supposed to believe it's all fine? Should we just trust them to never get it wrong, somehow?
...But to a yokai, hurting people if they want to should be second nature. That makes them senpais in violence, so they deserve a little respect.

Chikata☠senpai

Scary! Way too scary! Number one on the list of people not to see in a dark alleyway. Rumors says that when she passes by an elementary school, all the kids would start crying, and when she passes a maternity ward, all the babies stop crying. That she once killed an old man with a heart attack just by staring at him. That the old English teacher left the country after she tried to talk to him in private over her grades. None of that could be true (right??), but it's all still a little believable, isn't it? If she cornered me, the crying definitely wouldn't stop (T_T).
If somebody like that got in, Higan's standards must be really skewed...

I'm sorry. I was afraid. But it's not like we were that close. She didn't steal me away to go marching or anything like that, and I wouldn't have wanted to go anyway. And it was all like a decade ago. I don't even knows if she remembers me.

Or maybe it's since he's not from Kageoka...
No, wait, no matter how you think about it, he's still super creepy? Somebody must've driven a lawnmower over his face a few times to get that kind of look.

He also doesn't seem like he'd have a symbolic item, unless it was something from home. Nobody but his club talks to him though, so there's not any stories floating around... And talking to him face to face seems way too scary.

Higan was definitely built for weirdos. If you're a normal person, do you just not meet the criteria to get in? If a classmate isn't a super genius, they're some kind of super maniac. It's worse when they're both!
Why do they even let normal kids in here!? They can't survive in this environment!

Just a jerk. He's awful in school, and just as bad at his job.
Everybody has more than one side, that's true, but why stick around to find it? "Takumi Wright likes cars" is a depth most people don't reach, but learning that doesn't make him a smaller jerk. Sticking to what's obvious makes more sense for everybody, and especially here.

He's totes passionate enough for it, but hijacking a car seems pretty risky...
But with the power of a yokai, it should be easy to do!

Higan's reigning and unchallenged queen of derangement, leader of the Shu Fan Club, strong contender for the freak throne, and overall creepy girl. Once, after class, she started licking Shu's chair and... Actually, maybe it's not worth writing down, but things like that happen a lot.

It's way too easy to call her weird, and it's not like she doesn't bring it onto herself, but she's treated way too bad by this school. Things go way too far all of the time. But ghost-chan, it's really hard to feel sympathy for somebody you can't like no matter what. Do you know anything about that?

She's... hard to describe? She's rarely in class, and even when she is, she's not all there. The only things she seems interested in is the digital world, which just makes sense. The boring world we live in is something to escape.
It's weird how she manages to duck school responsibilities so much, but it also means nobody really knows her, or what she's about. That sort of thing does mean that rumors about her spread all the time, though, but if she's not there to hear them, do they even matter?

Unless it's a computer, there shouldn't be anything. But digital files could work as sacrifices, couldn't they? The idea matters more than the physical. She spends a lot of time on computers, there might be something I can use here.

The Legendary Super Pervert of Higan, the final evolved form of the cum creature freakish bottom feeding homunculi from the depths of the Spirit World. Or maybe he's just like that?

His mental sickness is our gain, though. His elemental alignment is super obvious, and he definitely did some unforgivable things to some poor object. The impurity would be extremely good for corrupting a ritual.

The first time she meets anyone, she challenges them to a fight. So meeting her is like a really, really bad idea, getting beaten up for no reason sucks. After seeing it from the bleachers though, it's super obvious she's another really scary person.

And even if she's more reasonable than the others, why are all of the "totally once in a generation, guys" martial arts genius girls huge? Ghost-chan, are you seeing this crap? How is it fair for all of the people good at super good at stuff to be hot too!?

It would be real hard to find a symbolic item for her. Maybe if she was a kendoka, but just martial arts doesn't use much.

It's too easy to just write off the seven foot tall guy who could lift twenty Rins as just another ordinary student. He was crazy lucky to be born like that. His plants could be useful for... potions? What, is this Dragon Quest now? Still, he puts a lot into them, so there must be at least one to use as a symbolic ingredient.

The creepy chemist that only cares about his experiments. Helping out with them is too risky, even if he says it'll be super helpful. Those steroids that Rodionovna-san gets from somewhere already have like extra nasty side effects, something cooked up in Higan can't be any safer... Hm, but maybe other students would be looking for something like that?

Anyway, boring sciences like chemistry can't do much in a world of magic, so what could he make that would actually matter?

Are artists crazy because of the art, or do they make art because they're crazy? Ayaka-san is definitely Really Weird, but beautiful and talented girls get to be called 'quirky' and 'unique' instead. Even being a total creeper turns into a perk somehow.
She's too busy living her super rich idol celebrity lifestyle to pay attention to her lessers, so unless somebody could 'inspire' her, they mostly don't exist. So she's not all bad, not falling into her perv dungeon is way easier than avoiding the nosy students.

He couldn't write or even read a book without help, and any sport or hands on class would be a total write off.
Rumors also say he's from a demon hunter clan or something, but Higan students say a lot of dumb things. Nurarihyon only started his war again a few years ago, what would they would they be hunting? But it's not impossible, so maybe its true...

It's a really screwed up story. Things like that are reminders to the rest of us that it can always get worse, but he looks like he's recovering at least a little. Seeing somebody get up from a disaster like that comes with a really strange feeling, doesn't it? "I could never do that" is bad to think, though, that's too self-centered.
