Llewellyn Odyalutai
Basics
Origin: Extra
Race: Human
Talent: Prodigy
Powers
Foundations
Liminal Landscaper (Main)
Glitch (Modifier)
Glitch’s corruptive power causes its influence to be very strong for a “modifier”; general interactions with the worlds’ systems are still “broken”, though less extreme than pure Glitch.
- “Twisted copy” can be “glitched copy” instead.
- Transformative influence on the world is generally “glitchy” as well, and Liminal Spaces are glitchier the higher their Level - these can be consciously suppressed, but it's annoying and not usually worth the effort.
Backdoors (Evolution: Then Again)
Abilities
Liminal Landscaper
Glitch
Backdoors
Item
Magic Crest
Not directly corrupted by Glitch. The knowledge it initially grants assumes the wielder is not “broken”, so it's inaccurate about effects at the outset, but per its own attributes updates easily with more correct information.
Drawbacks
Soulbound
If he dies, he becomes one with the Backrooms, and anyone who took his power will be subject to its glitchiness. He can feel this when he focuses on it, and it serves as an extra incentive to not fall in battle.
Where I Am+
Amnesia, baby. At least Prodigy and the Crest will help him adapt quickly.
Personality/Notes
A man who insists he’s actually from the “Backstate” of “Open Sky”, but that he “has roots in Reed It”, regardless of any evidence to the contrary. Doesn't recall his motivation for entering the Tournament, because he doesn't recall entering it at all. Thrust into a world he doesn’t quite understand (beyond the distressingly inaccurate information from his “Magic Crest”), he does know that his presence “corrupts” the world over time, the eerie spaces just outside reality are safety for him… and that he has strange access to various energy forms, including life energy. As a result, he’s spent more time outside proper reality than in it, getting a grip on his powers. He's noticed that his innate abilities facilitate behaving more like an ambush predator than a regular “fighter” - drawing threats into his Backrooms, then sucking them dry with Backdoors while he's safely both everywhere and nowhere. He's also gotten the hang of a simple duplication glitch within his own domain, allowing him virtually infinite money and greatly extended food supplies. A potentially valuable teammate… if he can be found.
Once over the hump of setting whiplash, Llewellyn demonstrates a benevolent spirit tempered by a pragmatic mind, something of a contrast with the corruptive potential of his powers. More curious about the heights he can reach than truly yearning for them, he does still demonstrate willingness to engage in combat to advance towards those heights, his techniques frequently infused with "glitch energy" which gradually corrupts and (usually) inhibits his opponents in unpredictable ways. Very much a team player, he'll whisk someone away into the safety of one of his pocket dimensions if things look dire enough for them... even if they would've preferred otherwise. His Backrooms prove handy for much more than just draining or obliterating opponents, providing holding pens, stocked safe houses, rapid Zone transit, and more.
Potential Extra Info
General Notes
The name of Backdoors' Foundation's game is energy manipulation, especially those kinds few have access to. This lends to some favoring of casting over martial striking. Additionally, LL's theme is "twisted copy", and Glitch indicates "unpredictable, logic-defying changes in powers". Any skills, classes, or other abilities from Systems, especially those provided by Magic Crest on Zone entry, will lean into these attributes.
Elements/Types
Chakra: [ERROR]
Element affinity probably bit-flips pseudo-randomly every single time he casts something, checks his inventory, or really does much of anything. Backdoors provides consistent affinity for both Yin and Yang. Any elemental Jutsu can have its element switched out for "Glitch".
Type: ,K PkLLEWELLYNxX (Glitch)
No weaknesses, no resistances. Not resisted or nullified by anything either. STAB for all other glitch-types with technically different names.
Moves (Pokémon)
TM Pool is likely something nonsensical; not all-encompassing like Mew, yet broader than it has any right to be, while leaving out simple things like Return. May even learn something other than what the TM was designed for. Picking out some of the better Glitch Moves for level up (or glitched TM learning?), some interesting possibilities are:
| Name | Base Power | Accuracy | PP | Type | Contact? | Effect/Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TM02 | 15 | 51 | 11 | Glitch | no | -2 Evasion |
| TM05 | - | - | 33 | Glitch | - | +2 Evasion |
| TM06 | 55 | 69 | 127 | Poison | no | Glitch/crash |
| TM23 | 255 | 33 | 4 | Glitch | yes (punch?) | Drain target for 1/2 damage dealt |
| TM28 | 85 | 46 | 54 | Glitch | no (physical) | -1 Special (30%), user disappears if it hits |
| TM37 | 255 | 33 | 60 | Glitch | no | Poisons target (30%) |
| ????? (Index C0) | 43 | 70 | 10 | Poison | no (sound?) | +2 Speed, Super Glitch |
As for non-Glitch moves, thanks to the Liminal Landscaper foundation, he's a natural for carrying Mimic and perhaps Psych Up. Backdoors would point to draining moves and maybe Spite. A possible starting moveset (thanks Crest!) could be:
| Name | Base Power | Accuracy | PP | Type | Contact? | Effect/Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mimic | - | - | 10 | Normal | status | Copies target's last used move |
| Psych Up | - | - | 10 | Normal | status | Copies target's stat changes |
| Giga Drain | 75 | 100 | 10 | Grass | no | Drains target for 1/2. "TM02" in Gen I (index value) |
| Sky Attack | 140 | 90 | 5 | Flying | no (physical) | Charge up turn, increased Crit rate, 30% flinch chance. (The classic.) |

Every non-glitch move has the type effectiveness of a different type. Fire=Poison, etc. Status effects affecting the holder of this ability are similarly scrambled. The details of this scramble change from one encounter to the next.

Whenever a stat is changed (except by this ability), and at the end of every turn, one stat is lowered one stage, and another is raised by one or two stages. As Moody, can affect Accuracy and Evasion, but also crit rate, and a small chance at “nonsensical” glitch stats (XP gain, money found... boost amount from this ability...).

At 33% HP or less, all moves change into a Glitch type (no weak/resist profile, STAB).
Techniques (Naruto)
Given the unpredictable nature of his main Power, much of this is likely to behave strangely. However, the Backdoors foundation indicates increased talent for Chakra Flow, Curse Arts, and especially Divine Arts (or "shinjutsu") - possibly even Sage Mode or Angel Mode. Liminal Landscaper also indicates proficiency with Dark {element}, but thanks to Glitch it probably runs on something else, like Divine Energy, instead. LL further indicates potential in Shadow Shuriken, Mirrored Sudden Attacker, and Mirror Reflection Technique, though subject to the usual twists of LL and/or Glitch. Subject to change, and Glitch wackiness, but a list of skills conferred by the Crest might be:
Basic
Unarmed Combat
Weapon Art
Utility Jutsu
Scrambled. "Useful" techniques may activate at less-than-useful times (i.e., standing on water when swimming was preferred).
Chakra Flow
Body Flicker
Leaves behind a Clone whether he wants it to or not.
Scroll Art
Enclosement Technique
Advanced
Divine Arts
Nullification Arts
Shadow Clone
Summoning
Adv. Taijutsu
Weapon Style (???)
Shadow Shuriken
Buggy. May stay behind longer or even duplicate when picked up.
Hidden
Purification
Element Weapon
Element Bullet
Element Dragon
Special
Mirror Reflection Technique
Exorcism
Angel Mode
Jobs (Final Fantasy)
Tactics Advance is the author's primary wheelhouse, so the list here will reflect that. The Crest's loadout is mostly magical, but with some experience in Archery and Theivery as well. The main thing to watch out for here is Glitch's influence having a ~10% chance of anything quantitative setting its target to NaN instead (Cure spells seem to have a failsafe of restoring the target to full health); hilarity will surely follow that. In addition, elemental effectiveness is subject to its usual shift in his hands. Preliminary list of classes and skills in them:
