Grand Lighthouse of Petra
The cold and hazardous waters of the south have claimed many a ship and sailor over the years. The lucrative ice, fur and metal trade that the Tsukinode Empire had with the Kingdom of Pingviinilä was worth the danger, even if it meant establishing naval bases along the south coast in the unforgiving lands of the Rosebutas. To this day, this trade route is still a profitable one for both the Empire and the Kingdom.
Beyond the obvious, the trade route has also led to the construction of one of the most iconic structures in the Kingdom of Pingviinilä, the Grand Lighthouse of Petra. The Lighthouse, stationed on an island in the Gulf of Petra, stands at 140 metres tall and has a range of 60 km of light: truly a life saver in the dangerous waters of the south. It's solid brick and mortar construction, reinforced by iron bars, has made it resilient for the great winds it faces. It's light, protected by a foot of glass, is cast using mirrors and a giant flame that is kept burning at all times with coal. Its construction started in 937 VTE and was finished in 961 VTE finally after many delays thanks to the winds and snow.
It is a wonder of the world, but one not often seen nor widely known of because of its location in the world. But for the sailors that travel in these waters, it is fondly known as simply the "Savior's Light." It, along with the bases in the Rosebuta lands, have caused the trade route to boom to even greater heights, as more and more sailors make the famous "Ice Journey" to the ports of Pingviinilä from the north.
