Futile Lamyntations
Walking through the snow, your feet sinking several inches deep with every step, the strong wind blaring against your ears, barely hidden by a beanie, you pause to collect your thoughts. As the snow falls on your head, and the cold shakes you to your very core, you pull out a crumbled piece of paper out of the back pocket of your pants. It is a map, albeit one that is very poorly fabricated.
"Should be around here somewhere… " You mumble to yourself, making a hot cloud of air in front of you for a brief moment.
The map is, in fact, directions from a local to the nearest town in the area. Your car had stopped working in the middle of nowhere, and your only option was to walk through the icy roads, the thick woods, and worst of all, the terrible snow storm that is hitting your skin, a feeling not unlike razor blades being driven into your flesh. You struggle to place the paper back into your pocket, as the frostbite had already begun to affect your hands, only protected by a makeshift glove made out of spare bandages in your car. You try to ignore the pain, and continue pushing forward through the heavy fog that encompassed you.
As your body begins to falter from what felt like many hours of walking, you spot something off in the distance. Very faint lights, mere flames flickering in the wind. You make your way to the light, and what you find is what seems to be a long road with some cottages, and a bar, clearly standing out from the rest of the buildings, due to the large number of lanterns lighting up the place. You figure you might as well go in for a drink to warm up and take refuge from the snow storm outside until it passes. As you open the door to the place, the first thing you notice, besides the smooth jazz, playing softly in the background, is 2 people sitting at a table, capes covering most of their body, drinking silently in their shady clothes, and the bartender, who seems to be a woman, her hair is blue in a color unlike anything you've seen before, and reaches all the way down to her hips. She is wearing a fur coat, though her undershirt is the proper, and quite stereotypical to say the least, bartender outfit, with tie and everything. As you step inside, the plank floor lets out a decently loud creak, informing you of how old this place may be. This noise, however, also informs the bartender of your presence, who stops cleaning the shot glasses and looks at you with her lush golden eyes, before looking back and continuing her task at hand. You sit down at the stools, and say:
"Hit me with something to warm me up, bartender."
The bartender turns around and replies
"Not good with the cold? Me neither. " she giggles, as she starts grabbing a bottle from the shelves.
Now that she is facing you, you can't help but notice even more of her weird and peculiar features. She has long and pointy ears, very similar to what those stories refer to as "elves", her hair has one long strand of hair above her scalp in the shape of a heart, and her eyes are so brightly colored they might as well be real gold. Quite the strange sight, needless to say. The bartender notices your staring, as she pours you a drink, which makes you look away timidly. Your eyes wander back to the two individuals sitting at the table near the entrance, and now that you are looking closely, you really cannot make out any of their features, as their clothes are completely covering their bodies. Your attention is hooked back to the bartender's table as the bartender puts down your drink with a loud thump. You pick up the glass, and take a shot. The sensation is extremely overwhelming, burning your throat as it goes down. This must be pure Vodka, and the certainly one of the strongest of the kind. As the burning passes for the most part, your body immediately starts to warm up, exactly as you intended. The bartender asks:
"So, are you from around here? I've never seen you before."
Her voice is very soft and soothing, a perfect treat to go with your drink, so you continue the small talk.
"Nah, i actually come from the south a couple hundred kilometers down the country. Car got hit real hard by the storm, completely dead in the middle of the road, so i came here to get some shelter, and help, if i can find any."
The bartender's smile turns into a large grin, one you'd surely call creepy, if it didn't come from such a gentle and pretty woman.
"Name's anon, by the way.", you add.
"Lamy." She replies.
Lamy huh? It's an odd name, though one that fits her appearance quite well, to say the least. You figure she must not be from this country.
"Tell you what, i'll drink another shot, and you point me in the direction of someone who can help me out, fair enough?" You ask, in a bold tone.
She looks at you and squints slightly, her gaze meets your eye in a way that feels like it touches your soul, and her grin turns to a more sinister smile. After a brief pause, she answers:
"Sounds good to me. I'll get you something stronger this time, surely you can take it right?" She laughs a bit, and turns to the shelves full of bottles, a vast collection of all tastes and kinds.
Your body is pretty warm, the drink, coupled by the cozy atmosphere and the beautiful lady in front of you, it all comes together for a very nice experience, certainly better than anything out there in the storm. Almost makes you not want to leave, but after this drink, it will be time to go look for help, before your car gets completely engulfed by the snow, if it hasn't already.
"Here you go." She says, putting down another drink in front of you.
The smell of this one is enough to tell you that if you're not careful, you might puke it out instantly. Despite being able to handle your drinks, these are much stronger than what you're used to taking down in the south.
"Here goes nothing… " You say, as you inhale deeply, and take the shot all in one go.
Your eyes start tearing up, as you put down the glass in a heavy motion. This one hits hard. All the while the girl behind the counter giggling at your reaction. You exhale deeply, feeling like a dragon letting out its hot breath.
"You really did it, impressive!" She says, in a cheerful tone.
While coughing slightly, you reply "Yeah, gotta say, you people up here in the north really have some heavy stuff." Your mouth keeps moving… "And some really pretty bartenders too."
The bartender gasps very sofly, and you pause for a moment, thinking of what you just said. No going back, you think, and start reaching around your pocket for some change.
"You're one of the flirty ones, huh? You'll make a nice addition to us." She says, in an ominous tone.
"Addition to wh--o?" You ask, your speech slurring out slightly.
You suddenly notice that your eyes are getting heavy, and your muscles aren't managing to handle your weight.
"This isn't normal." You think to yourself, worriedly. Two drinks shouldn't be enough to take you out, no matter how strong they were. All the coins in your hand fall onto the ground as you struggle to stay still in your seat.
As you look up, Lamy is looking at you with a very intense smile, just staring silently. You try to scream "What did you do to me?!" But your words don't come out. You crash out of the stool onto the ground, and your consciousness slips away.
As you slip in and out of being conscious, you can feel the cold snow at the back of your head, as two people in front of you pull you by your feet, occasionally being brought back to the feeling of your head hitting a rock or a chunk of hard ice as you're dragged away, but you end up falling unconscious again. After a good while of these moments flashing before your eyes, you finally start waking up, your head feels like it's on a soft pillow, lessening the pain of what probably was you hitting your head on the floor at the bar, though it still hurts, the pain coming in pulsating waves, indicating that you must've been out for less than an hour at most. Suddenly, you feel a hand brushing up against your hair and a familiar voice starts to bring you back into full consciousness. You're in Lamy's lap! And she is petting your head, without a worry in the word.
"Hush hush, now… it's alright, anon." She says, in her soothing voice.
But the only thing you can think when you hear it is fear, and anger. You jump your head out of her lap as you sit up, panicked. As you do so,you hear it, the sound of chains. Your arms and legs are chained up to the pillars of what seems to be a basement. You immediately start sweating cold, as your entire body goes into fight or flight mode. You need to escape this situation at all costs. Lamy stands up from the ground, where she was previously comforting you in, and pats her behind in a brushing gesture, clearing off the dust from the floor.
"Where the hell am i? What did you make me drink?!" You scream at her.
She starts smiling and answers.
"You're in the changing room, as we like to call it. It's very soundproof, and has all the tools we need to do our thing, quite useful don't you think?" She looks at you, looking for confirmation.
Tools? What is she talking about? As you look around the room, you see many types of instrument, tools, as she called it, ranging from sex toys all the way to needles and other surgery equipment. This only makes your heart start beating faster, as you begin to worry more and more.
"What are you going to do to me?! Let me out of here!" You scream again, though your voice isn't coming out properly out of fear.
"You're out of luck, this will be quite painful. You should've stayed asleep. Though i suppose i can give you some anaesthetics, if you behave." She says, walking towards some syringes.
"What? What is gonna be painful? Just what are you planning on doing to me?!" You ask again, in a more direct manner.
You see her smile from the reflection on a mirror on the wall, as she starts filling up the syringe in her hands with an unknown substance. You notice a key on her neck, dangling from a thin cord on her neck. It must be for your chains!
"Your transformation, of course! You'll become one of us, soon enough. The procedure is painful, very painful, but you'll be very happy once it's all done!" She says, as she turns towards you.
Her face is blushing with excitement, as well as an expression of pure joy. She starts walking towards you with the syringe in hand.
"What transformation? What are you talking about? Why are you doing this to me?" You say, in a trembling voice.
"You'll soon understand. Just stay still, and once you wake up it will all be over…" She says, in a calm and quiet voice.
You feel like crying, but your body doesn't let you. Now is not the time to be weak. You need to escape! You start moving around violently, trying to get out of the chains, but nothing seems to be working, you're completely stuck to the ground, with no means to defend yourself. Your hands can reach only as far as to touch fingers on top of your chest. And you legs? Completely out of the question. She kneels down, and despite your struggle, she injects you with the syringe, directly onto your thigh muscle, the injection burns worse than anything you've ever felt, like acid going through your veins, as it begins going up your body, into your blood. You start screaming your lungs out in pain, but that quickly is silenced as you suddenly feel Lamy's lips touching yours. She begins passionately kissing you, as you struggle and writhe in the pain, the warmth of her lips is gentle and kind. You close your eyes for a few moments, thinking of what to do, and in a bout of pure instinct, you bite her tongue with all your strength, instantly severing it off. Lamy screams and falls onto you, as she struggles to breathe whilst choking on her own blood, gagging all the while. As that happens, you use the small reach that your hands have and grab hold of her, then snap the key out of her necklace. She instantly stands up, and starts tumbling towards the surgical equipment. Your heart is thumping so hard you feel like you'll have a heart attack, as you rush to unlock the bracelets on your hands and feet. Your hands are out, but Lamy charges at you with a scalpel in her blood covered hand, she is gasping for air, grunting angrily through the blood in her throat, and begins charging at you. As she reaches near you, you free one of your legs and kick her heel, causing her to quickly fall down face first onto the hard floor. You free your other leg, stand up, and make your way up the stairs of the basement. As you open the door, you can hear Lamy sobbing intensely on the floor of the basement.
You make a run for it, you run out of the house as fast as you can, and don't stop running. You reach the town again, your whole body is burning, the pain feels unbearable, yet your body can't let out these feelings properly due to all the adrenaline coursing through you. You notice your hair has grown very long and has begun to turn blue, your ears have grown sharp and pointy, and show no sign of stopping. What's happening to you? As you reach one of the cottages, you loudly knock on the door, screaming for help with all the strength you have left. Your voice doesn't sound like you anymore, but instead you sound like a woman. Your tears start coming out as you continue to bash the door, screaming without stopping. Suddenly you hear the door unlocking, as someone begins to open it.
"You gotta help me! Someone drugged me up and chained me to their basement! Something is happening to me! It hurts! Please, you gotta h-" You stop talking. Fear is the only thing left in your body, as your entire body freezes up.
"Yes? What is it that i need to do?" The person at the door asks, in a soft and soothing voice. Her blue hair, golden eyes and pointy ears can be seen.
"Well? Why don't you come in and tell me all about it?". She grabs you by your arm and pulls you into the house. Defeated, and hopeless, you offer no resistance.
As the door closes, and the light of the outside begins to fade out, you can't help but wonder:
"Just what will i become?"
