Eisuke Fujiwara (英輔 藤原)
Era:
Modern Era
Grade:
3rd Grade (+16)
Role:
Human - Student (Start with a Cursed Tool or a Combat Training)
Cursed Technique: Medium (-8)
I See Dead People
Eisuke can see and interact with ghosts. Not Cursed Spirits, but actual ghosts of the deceased. They typically appear as simple, almost cartoonish blanket-style ghosts, usually with one or two traits/accessories that make them easier to identify. These ghosts usually have regrets or issues that prevent them from passing on fully (or are just incredibly stubborn about not dying), but lack enough negative emotion or cursed energy to become a full fledged Cursed Spirit. Most fade with enough time, usually a few weeks or months after death, though especially stubborn ghosts can last decades or longer before passing on fully.
By imbuing these ghosts with a minimal amount of cursed energy, Eisuke can return their consciousness, allowing them to perceive the world and move under their own will. Ghosts are invisible to those that don't also possess a Medium technique or certain perception techniques, and serve as excellent scouts, capable of slipping past physical barriers and even some supernatural ones without detection. The minimal amount of cursed energy is enough to allow the ghosts to see Cursed Spirits and other sorcery, but in turn makes them visible to specialized perception based techniques.
Eisuke does not actually possess any direct control over these ghosts, and must convince them to help him out. He usually offers to settle any regrets they have in life in exchange for a set period of service, though several ghosts in his repertoire simply hang around him because they have nothing better to do. Ghosts are normally immune to damage (except from Medium techniques or techniques that directly target the soul), giving them surprising staying power.

They're Here
Eisuke can imbue the ghosts around him with substantially more cursed energy, morphing them from the amorphous 'blanket ghosts' he typically sees into a form much more reminiscent of the one they held in life. This process allows them to physically interact with the world, distort video cameras, and several other stereotypical 'ghost' abilities.
Ghosts that are imbued with Cursed Energy can be targeted by most cursed techniques, not just Medium or soul-based techniques. This does not result in actual harm or 'death', but simply forces out Eisuke's Cursed Energy and reduces the ghost to their natural, 'unconscious' state.
Even when imbued with Cursed Energy, ghosts remain invisible to most without specialized techniques. This gives the impression that Eisuke has Telekinesis.
Disturbingly effective when used on the ghost of a Sorcerer that had a Freakish Body or powerful Heavenly Restrictions.
Stack Technique: (-4)
They're Coming For You!
By using a sizeable amount of his Cursed Energy, Eisuke can allow his ghosts to temporarily posses others. Only non-sorcerers, animals, objects, etc can be taken over - the control over cursed energy that even the weakest Sorcerers possess make possession impossible. Cursed Tools have a similar protection, but only if they are semi-1st grade and above.
Possessing a living creature allows the ghost to perform actions in their bodies for a limited period of time, dependent on the amount of Cursed Energy that Eisuke grants them. Typically around 5-10 minutes for the average person. The ghost only has control over the body, with no access to memories. Upon the possession ending, the victim will have no recollection of what happened - though if they're in a different environment from when the possession started, they may freak out.
Possessing objects grants limited control over it to the ghost - for example, clumsily walking with a corpse, or causing a knife to float in mid air. This can be used to greatly affect those that rely on items and Cursed Tools - possessing a sword and forcing each swing off target, make a gun misfire or pop all the ammo out onto the floor, or barricade doors and windows to prevent escape.
Corpses of Sorcerers that had Freakish Body are especially useful, but Eisuke is too grossed out to rely on them.
Maximum Technique: (-6)
Sometimes, Dead is Better
The strongest ability that Eisuke has access to, and the one that could theoretically allow him to punch above his Grade in the proper circumstances. The ghosts of Sorcerers that have not yet moved on can be granted Cursed Energy from Eisuke's own reserves in order to perform the techniques they knew in life, the only limitation being the amount of energy that Eisuke can transfer to the ghost. Assuming he found the ghost of a Special Grade Sorcerer, they'd be able to perform any technique they could in life, with the only constraint being that they are drawing upon the cursed energy reserve of a 3rd grade Sorcerer.
The main limitations of this ability is Eisuke's lack of control over the ghost he is empowering, and the fact that Sorcerers rarely leave ghosts behind. Most either die in ways that prevent their spirit from sticking around, or have enough regrets and negative emotion that they become Vengeful Spirits instead of ghosts. Still, it is more than enough to allow posthumous surprise attacks, or expand Eisuke's repertoire over time.
Cursed Tool:
The Lament Configuration
A simple cursed tool, in the shape of a puzzle box. When opened, Ghosts and Cursed Spirits can willingly enter it to become sealed, putting them into a deep slumber until the puzzle box is opened again. Ghosts and Cursed Spirits cannot be forced into this cursed tool, even when weakened or near death - it is a purely voluntary process. Due to this, the sealing is absurdly strong for a fourth grade cursed tool, almost akin to a Binding Vow.
Has nothing to do with its namesake, Eisuke just named it that because he's autistic. He mostly uses it to store and transport his ghosts when he has an excess of them.
Pet Spirit: (-4)
Ghost Swarm
A collection of ghosts that Eisuke has already gotten by the time of the MP. They are only about as strong as normal humans, but can't 'die' outside of specialized soul-based or Medium techniques. Typically used to swarm opponents, scout areas, share knowledge and insights, or disable and disorient opponents so that Eisuke's allies can capitalize on their distraction.
They include:
- His grandfather, Akihito. Has the most general knowledge, and is absurdly loyal. Used to be in the JSDF, so has some military training and knows many practical skills like knot-tying, weapon use, and mechanics.
- His childhood friend, Chikari. Little practical use, but upbeat personality and connection with Eisuke keeps him much healthier mentally than many other sorcerers. He has a crush on her, which is pretty creepy since she is dead.
- His music teacher, Mr. Miura. Social, able to easily talk with others and offer advice for dealing with others. Has a drinking problem, frequently requesting to possess people so that he can drink for a little while. Can play nearly any musical instrument very well.
- His pediatrician, Dr. Sagami. Knowledgeable on medicine, first aid, and many other academic disciplines. Used to shitpost on 2ch when she was alive, and is surprisingly skilled with computers and other electronics. Always needs a TV on Saturday mornings so she can watch her favorite anime, Magi⛤Chan.
- His potential serial killer, Killer-kun. By far the most adept at combat. Stronger after becoming a ghost, around the level of an Olympian in most physical respects. Has heightened senses and makes excellent use of his invisibility to disable and kill enemies, always targeting weak points like eyes and the throat. Bloodthirsty, will always try to kill an opponent if given enough cursed energy to touch them. Eisuke is reluctant to use him against human opponents. Doesn't like being called Killer-kun, but refuses to share his real name.
Eisuke has several others on 'retainer', but they usually pass on after a few weeks or a month.
Heavenly Restriction:
Cursed Energy Increase: Minor (+8)
Eisuke had always been physically frail, a minor Heavenly vow that he had been unaware of for most of his life and provided little benefit in terms of Cursed Energy. It grew substantially more pronounced and potent after Eisuke became aware of his powers. The car crash that took Eisuke's grandfather caused permanent nerve damage to his left leg, making walking without a cane difficult and painful. He will always be somewhat slower than others, and direct combat is even more difficult than before. Pushes through the pain to get good shots while working for the AV club, but usually has to ice his leg after.
Increases his Cursed Energy a substantial amount as a consequence.
Backstory:
Eisuke Fujiwara was born to a normal family of non-sorcerers, and only became aware of his capabilities around the age of 12, after a near fatal car accident with his grandfather sent him to the hospital. Despite being able to see his grandfather clearly and without injury, no one else could - most assumed it was post traumatic stress causing delusions. Eisuke believed as much, but when his grandfather was still following and giving him advice months after the incident, he came to the realization that he was somehow a psychic.
Eisuke spent the next few years continuing his normal life, seemingly unaffected by his sudden transition into being a sorcerer. He collected ghosts, learned from them, and helped them pass on - only to repeat it all again the next day. Several ghosts stuck around over the years, including his childhood friend that had died from a terminal illness at 14, his music teacher that had killed themselves after a divorce, and his pediatrician after she was run over by a bus. He had thankfully managed to avoid interacting with other Sorcerers or Cursed Spirits by simply avoiding them and quickly leaving the area as soon as he saw them.
It wasn't until he was 15 when Eisuke was discovered. A serial killer attacked him on his way home from a convenience store, and after a brief confrontation, he was killed by the ghost of Eisuke's grandfather. A teacher from Jujutsu high witnessed this event occur, and after a brief interrogation, somehow decided that enrolling this teenager that nearly got killed by a random dude with a knife into supernatural high school was a great idea.
Only a few months later, Eisuke is much more comfortable with his life as a Jujutsu high student, and has become friends with several of his classmates. He is the president of the AV Club, and can often be found on campus filming events or other students.
Personality:
Eisuke is the last person you would expect to be a Jujutsu Sorcerer. He's non-confrontational and quick to fall under pressure, and even after developing his own Cursed Technique, he was bullied for lunch money by mundane classmates before joining Jujutsu high. Eisuke does not do this out of cowardice, but rather because he cares far more about others than he does for his own well being. If giving up his lunch money makes a bully happy, then Eisuke doesn't seem to understand why he shouldn't do it - even after being harassed and yelled at. The only exception to this is when he sees people being harassed or assaulted - in which case Eisuke will quickly come to the aid of the victim, and almost certainly get the shit kicked out of himself in their place.
Eisuke has a soft and caring personality, spending most of his free time outside of school either looking for ghosts, or taking care of the regrets of ghosts that already follow him. Buying groceries for the family of a poor salary man that got hit by a bus, adopting a stray dog that belonged to a homeless man, leaving a love note for a dead Otaku's crush - all of this and more, Eisuke does every single day. To afford some of the more extravagant activities, Eisuke occasionally sends some of his ghosts across the city to collect lost bills and change - though this is something he tries to be very secretive about, as he doesn't want to be pressured into robbery by his classmates.
Has an intense passion towards horror movies, spending any free time he has outside of school or working with his ghosts to watch them and memorizing trivia. Defends schlock and c grade films as being a 'valued part of the horror movie ecosystem', whatever the fuck that means. Often invites other classmates to watch movies with him.
Occasionally asks his ghosts to help him cheat on exams for him, though feels guilty when he does this.
Fighting Style:
One of the biggest bitches in the world of sorcery, Eisuke relies entirely on his ghosts to fight for him, empowering ghosts and then sending them to assassinate or attack while he stays hundreds or even thousands of meters away from the action. In a direct fight, even a fourth grade sorcerer with minimal combat training could probably kick his ass, so long as they don't have a Heavenly Restriction.
Considering most of his ghosts are normal humans, the most they can typically do is choke someone out, stab them with knives, push them at inopportune times, etc. Usually enough to take care of lower grade cursed spirits if enough ghosts are empowered, but he'd need a lot help for anything above Grade 2. He really shines when working in a team setting, ordering his ghosts to disable or restrain opponents while his allies do the actual fighting, or scouting out areas and disabling traps before his group enters hostile territory.
If he were to get access to the ghost of a Sorcerer or two, he would be substantially stronger, to the point where he could probably fight Cursed Spirits above his grade with relative ease.
Outside of direct combat, he also specializes in harassment tactics - hounding an enemy sorcerer or cursed spirit for days at a time, sending ghosts after them constantly to knock shit over or attack them as soon as they try to rest. Just scaring people with spooky ghost bullshit until they're exhausted, then sending the cavalry in.
