i just finished watching gotg #1, something i'd been putting off for a year or two. i cried 5 times. an y'know, maybe it was because i was already upset. but you're telling me i have to watch 2 more of these? i wanted to watch it for mantis, but it was still worth it despite her not being there. i hadn't watched the movies yet because i much prefer comics. unfortunately, i quite dislike the gotg comics.
hi august 5th 2026. i just watched gotg vol 2. i never thought i could relate to a fictional talking raccoon so, so, so much. honestly, ive been having a tough week. i shut everyone out because i was self conscious. i kept lashing out at everybody. hell, i ghosted all of my irls 3 months ago for the same reason. anyways, its the part where rocket is talking about yondu & himself. specifically, this;
"He didn't chase them away. Even though he yelled at them. And was always mean. And he stole batteries he didn't need."
maybe you can figure out the rest. i can't put it into words. a stupid fucking raccoon convinced me to talk to everyone i ghosted. and they dont hate me. these 3 movies will forever hold a special place in my heart. especially the 2nd one.
ANYWAYS the reason i don't really like the gotg comics is because mantis is my absolute favorite member of the gotg, and in the comics it just feels like they use her to progress other characters' stories. for example, her becoming a sex worker & not long after her only purpose being to help swordsman rejoin the avengers. it just feels like she only shows up for someone else. like you can hardly find her in any comic covers or in any comics in general cause thats the only reason they use her. she's never really been a member of the gotg until recently if you ask me. and i really, really dont like the celestial madonna shit. at least not in the comics. i believe comic writers are trying to retcon the gotg to somewhat match the movies cause theyre a MESS
theres also a HUGE problem with the gotg's dynamic in the comics. it's like the xmen but 10x worse. at least the xmen arent always fucking arguing with each other. in the gotg comics, theyre either making out with each other or fighting. hardly do they ever work together. like, starlord literally made mantis use her empathy powers to manipulate the members into joining the team, and once they found out, half of them fucking left 
i'd also like to add that despite me loving the movies and hating the comics, it irks me when rivals players talk about the gotg but dont mention adam warlock at all. and even though he barely shows up in the 3rd movie its still implied that he joined the gotg at the end. #whatarewemissing
