ok im rewriting this cause i just realized the way i explained my opinion on the gotg comics was kind of bad.

i really dislike the gotg comics (as someone whos read majority of them). my favorite marvel character outside of the xmen is mantis, and i really hate how they treat her in the gotg comics. don't get me wrong, i adore mantis' character, just not in gotg. i feel like she shouldve just stayed a member of the avengers and i do have a reason for that.

mantis doesnt really FEEL like a member of the gotg. i say this because the first time mantis became an official member of the gotg in guardians of the galaxy 2008, her main purpose was to serve as a therapist to the members. and if that wasnt bad enough, in issue #4, drax overhears mantis and quill conversing about how he had her emotionally manipulate everyone to get them to rejoin the gotg, meaning NOBODY wanted to be there. they also just dont have a family dynamic whatsoever. theyre just coworkers and nothing more. its manipulation after manipulation after manipulation. imo, you can tell mantis was happier with the avengers because they treated her like one of their own. avengers mantis i will never forget you...

ig my only complaint about comic mantis is the celestial madonna storyline? i didnt really like it
