Agriculture

Farming is one of the most common professions in the United Provinces, only being rivaled by the fishing industry. The backbone of the Agricultural industry is livestock pastoring. In all provinces, there is a good concentrate of this industry, some others having more concentration that others, but all things considered, the nation is one of the largest producers of livestock products in the world.

Grain and Barley are the staple crops and are grown in great amounts, for both fodder and food. Vegetables and Fruit are also commonly grown food crops as well.

Horticulture also takes a prominent place in this sector, with many types of flowers being grown.

Fishing

Fishing and Whaling are essential industries within the economy of the Republic. With the large number of fish hauled in per year and the different types, Fish Markets in the Republic are massive, and many coastal cities find themselves with large populations of Fisherman

Whaling is another key industry, with the profit from whale oil, baleen, ambergris, whale bone products being essential parts of major whaling settlements.

Squids themselves are seen as a sacred part of the economy, and the hunting is so important that it is fear that if not enough squid have been caught in a single year, that the nation will collapse into utter anarchy. This has encouraged many Inastch to travel to faraway lands to squid hunt.

Mining and Logging

Mining is largely concentrated in the Northeastern Mountains of the Republic and is a big part of the local economies. Lead and Zinc are found in great amounts in these regions, with minor supplies of Iron, Copper, and Silver also being found. Quarries are also found in this region and others where larger amounts of Limestone and Sandstone are extracted. Peat is a rather common product found in the swampy coastal plains and serves as a fertilizer and a source of fuel.

Logging can be found concentrated in various inland areas, mainly in the Northeast and West of the Republic. With the needs of the States' Navy being great, the effort to plant trees specifically for the Navy's use was undertaken long ago. Deforestation is a growing problem with the demand of Lumber constantly rising. The States General has failed repeated to put in measures to stop this, and this might lead to disaster down the line.
