『Mitra's Archive』
Chrysalis
Mory Pose
The guild's founder and mascot. Other guilds get exceeds or some exotic beast they've captured meanwhile we're stuck with a girl who reduced the crime rate by indulging in her fetishes. She's not likely to get us any new members. Even if her curse is nothing but deserved, leaving a little girl by herself would leave a bitter taste in anybody's mouth, I imagine... and besides, seeing if she can grow into a guild master that can leave a mark in history seems like an enjoyable hobby.
As everyone under the previous chrysalis ran away, that would be our chance to rebrand would it not? Perhaps we could say that the true Mory was assassinated or went to another country and this is her daughter?
Butterfly magic has interesting properties for alchemy, acquiring a supply of those could be helpful. If I offer a few earth slayer cards in exchange for it I could kill two birds in one stone, in case she encounters any emergencies.
Nameless
The other reason to join this guild. Being approached by a relic of 200 years ago is certainly a good omen. My job would be a lot easier if I could interview a demon empress, but unfortunately even if she was dominant she'd be unlikely to cooperate. My only option is to keep on observing her until important information appears. Narrowing it down to which one she is should come first, but I should proceed assuming that she's always watching. Probing nameless with questions would likely provoke it. I won't be publishing this part of the entry.
My impression on the actual person is... someone passionate. It would be quite unfortunate to see her lose, but trying to give her any sort of advice might make things worse. An annoying dilemma. More importantly not having a name is quite inconvenient but giving her a name is too big of a deal for me. I should settle with some sort of nickname... Mumei-chan?
Apparently she's also an alchemist... wonder what her style is? Is it something she learned recently or is it from the past? How much does she know about it? She seems the type to enjoy some sort of alchemy focused on her own body, but alchemy of a more ethereal nature could certainly help her understand herself... Maybe something to do with emotions or bonds?
Layla
Finding another god slayer in a guild like this... Proof of my theory that god slayers are either mentally damaged or odd people with too much free time. Merely having another slayer would be very helpful, but someone capable of performing Take Over with a god is a once in a lifetime opportunity, joining Chrysalis turned out to be a gold mine of opportunities.
Apep should be far more likely to answer my questions than other ancient entities, but I should revise all my appeasement rituals to improve my chances. The girl doesn't seem too hard to deal with besides her paranoia of getting her prey stolen. How can I disarm her?
Needless to say the element of a god slayer would not only be a wonderful essence but an opportunity to finally try out a hybrid god mode, what kind of spells does the union of chaos and order gods create?
Lorus Azoth
Considering her lacking ability to lead people it is impressive how Mory is talented at finding valuable talent... It's unfortunate that a boy that doesn't know any better has been duped into joining this kind of guild. Mory lacks people skills and Mumei-chan is just as lost (and likely even worse as a teacher), so it falls upon me to teach him common sense and applications for his magic. Hopefully he'll be a good student.
Quicksilver magic has its fundamentals in alchemic theory so it shouldn't be too hard to demonstrate the concepts. Basic mercury alchemy should be enough to illustrate the applications of it. Before settling on a lesson plan I believe I should worry about getting him to calm down. Considering how he's been thrust into a world full of strangers, it's unlikely he would be in the mindset to retain anything I teach him. How do I get a boy that doesn't know anything about the world to relax?
Hob House
Bastly Ugard
The opposite of our guild master in pretty much every way. Zero talent for magic, top notch administration skills, capable of dealing with odd personalities, and has an actual, functioning guild building. On top of that he also specializes in criminal reform. With this kind of competition in Balsam our only hopes are people who would fall for a pretty smile and don't know anything about Chrysalis' history.
Ibuki E. Fiore
Brat rehabilitation project. Not that different from the past Mory, so Ugard has to prevent her fetishes from getting even more warped, lest the princess be cursed into being even more of a kid. I can only wonder if they can get along or if they'd be disturbed by looking into a mirror of themselves.
My condolences to Ugard for having to raise a child, but if there's any results they could be helpful with my own boss.
Alaric Falk
About what one would expect from the House. Nothing exceptional outside of his magnetic magic. But perhaps what the guild needs isn't a strong magician but rather someone to serve as an example of how to behave as a functional human. Rather low bar, but that is inevitable in this kind of guild.
Seph
God slayers are often deranged in some manner and this is one such extreme. It's good to know the House has managed to tame her to a manageable level, but it's difficult to talk to one of the great disasters of the recent decades when she can barely remember what a regular human interaction is supposed to be like. Even so, I have to give it a try.
Merging living magic into your own body is quite the rare practice, so I shouldn't miss the opportunity of discussing this topic with another practitioner even if our methods are different.
Moon's Watch
Father Mond
A guild master that managed to fix the criminal problems of his city without involving his fetishes. Tough competition between him and Bastly. Finding a fully functional superweapon wouldn't be easy...
Ciara Perrons
A magical NEET. If someone else hadn't forced her out of her isolation I might have tried to visit her abode and see for myself if her alchemy has anything special.
Yam
Using a sacrifice to take all the misfortune of a tribe, what an interesting ritual... That aside it seems the boy is the only real source for the winter court's magic and the nature of their god. Unfortunately his ability to communicate is less than desirable. Perhaps I should try to learn his tribe's language to make the process easier...?
I should verify the interaction of devil and god slaying magic. Can they consume each other? Can they be used to enter modes? Regardless of the results, having a devil slayer in case the worst comes to pass and we're forced to engage with a demon empress would be ideal. Is it fortunate that they are drawn to each other, or is he merely being attracted to the greatest possible source of misfortune?
Lanel Nol
A dead man walking with no real hope of fixing himself. Resurrection magic is too troublesome to research, meanwhile bodily alchemy could revive him as a mechanical doll. It's hard to believe that he would take that gamble after all those years as an unchanging corpse.
Cat Sid
An exceed with delusions of being a hero... Not much to say outside of his lost magic, but even that appears quite disappointing.
Meliadne
This guild is certainly blessed with a top tier mascot... If only a certain someone could learn from her example... That aside, as expected of an envoy she appears to be quite well read. Talking with her might be very productive. If by any chance you find this archive, do feel free to message me back.
Curie Lovelace
It seems that magical technology only attracts those with dysfunctional personalities... Or is it the other way around? Pursuing the theory that magical technology turns their users into ego driven maniacs might be worth it. Is it an inevitable side effect, or is it just a result of the culture surrounding magitech? Fortunately this one doesn't seem too likely to commit a major crime.
Hag's Hex
Vera Escher
Even when comparing ourselves to other dark guilds it appears that there's little hope. It's difficult to compete with casino money. That aside looking into superweapons held by other guilds is some dangerous business... If Vera intends to steal or destroy them it might be a good opportunity to raid her home base while they're busy fighting the other guilds they've pissed off.
Axel Starr
Body snatching magic? There's a few that match the description of that incident. It's no wonder he turned the way he did after that. It's interesting how Mumei-chan shares a similar kind of magic with Axel. Is it just coincidence or is his magic a branch of hers? If it can lead me to understanding how her roulette magic works I shouldn't discard this line of inquiry...
Luckuv Thadraw
Odd stage name. Not much besides to say other than her being eye candy.
Marak "The Boozehound"
Mentally unstable from excessive drinking. Emotionally unstable when sober. It's rather unfortunate that I haven't heard about that church before the massacre as the man himself isn't really in a state to cooperate. Iron God magic could be perfect compliment to my own Slayer, not to mention the applications in alchemy. If we ever enter a war with Hag's Hex his corpse would be one of the better spoils we could get.
Hilda Verblitz
A violent brute even worse than the drunkard. Having her as a backup for a possible mumei-chan fight would be reassuring but convincing her to follow a plan seems unlikely. On the other hand it wouldn't be necessary to convince her to join the fight considering her less than stellar relationship with mumei-chan.
Depending on how fast Yam develops it could be doable to feed him her lightning and make use of her power that way, but another body on the field is another body on the field.
Church of Mana
Saintess of Mana.
It's a scam. As hard as it might be for some to believe there's a few magics that can turn a regular mage into an engine of destruction, so that part might be true. Everything else however is a scam. The whole system itself is a scam to milk its members as much as possible and their theology is a joke. It's nothing but being contrarian for the sake of it.
Mistress Fist
Strengthening curses on yourself? An odd style to say the least. It's true that there are some curses that are able to make some sort of trade off but she doesn't seem the type to use such curses, so that magic is a bit of a waste.
Others
Sebastian Stone
Exhibit A of why magitech is famous for creating egomaniacs with no self-control. Hopefully people won't mistake me for one of these. Alchemy and magitech are very distinct forms of magic but you can never be sure how the masses will see it... Traveling to god knows where only to put some stupid brat in his place would be such a waste of time.
If he does end up attacking me first for whatever reason, then I suppose I shouldn't bother using machine inorganic essences. I can already picture what stupid excuses he would use if I did.
Lucius McShade
The guy who busted that Hag's Hex subsidiary that other day. Not very much information on him: Suddenly appeared one day, likely from very far away, and mostly using fairly simple magics. Could possibly be a dragon slayer.
I'd like to close this file by saying that he's an enemy of my enemy for taking on a bigger dark guild and is therefore doing a favor for us. However, it's quite likely we might have to face him in future. The man doesn't know anything about balsam and is a mercenary doing odd jobs. It wouldn't be surprising if one of the former chrysalis members puts a hit for Mory one day. Would he hesitate after seeing her current state? I should at least keep an eye on any new data regarding him.
