The Lamys

Origins

One might be familiar with trending movement of the /become/ ideology which pressured individuals to strive to mimic the appearance and personalities of their chosen pantheonic diety and the fringe cults and subcultures that arose as a result of many corpo advertising campaigns and raving schizadjacent cult figures. Whether the original Lamys were amongst these crowds isn't known, however the rudimentary consumer gene-splicing and retrograde somatic redevelopment certainly allowed them to spread with intense fervor. The practice of using wetware geneprograms within the human body to rewire and restructure itself into a preset genetic and physical template was met with much enthusiasm by those crowds dedicated to the idea of apotheosis as well as a certain subset of thrill seekers and devoted geno punk-artists.
The Lamys were originally a small subculture of gene-sculptors who believed that by embodying the personification of Lamy, one was brought closer to the concept of Lamy as a whole, eventually leaving no distinguish between the divine idea of Lamy and the physical form of Lamy. While this idea is particularily religious in its conotation, those who underwent /become/ gene operations were largely considered minor celebrities afterwards. While some considered it minorly saceligious, in those civilizations whom corporations held immense sway the image of Lamy was incredibly provitable, especially for fashion brands. Sponsors who were able to get the image of a goddess to push their brands found a sharp rise in sales and any controversy that arose from the more risque products was always met with an equal rise in sale and stock, Lamys were more or less identified by their association with brands and several Lamy celebrities began to distinguish themselves through their brand identities and association and the extremely minor differences in phenotype between each. La Lami was a Lamy who was incredbily popular amongst the Shishiron and had their own brand of high-proof vodka called "Lion On Ice", Lamiel the Lover was a popular Lamy in an ASMR Hostess Bar, and Lamy Lamington ran the popular sitcom, "Lamy, Lamy, and Me" with two other Lamys which ran for five seasons and was nominated for the Kino awards. This hayday of Lamys came to an end when genetic samples of recently deceased Lamy splices revealed a genetic defect in the most popular Lamy gene template, gene-sculptors were quick to begin editing and repairing the defective gene sequence however by that point hundreds were beginning to suffer from cancers and unstable genetic mutations. To make matter worse, an act of bio-terrorism resulted in a seek and destroy intelligent virus known as Wamy which affected unstable or incomplete /become/ splices of which only the most stable and long lasting splicers came out unscathed, not much is known about the virus or its origins and many theories as to who may have developed it have arisen after its spread. Many say that it was the act of a rival business owner who comissioned the virus in order to kill a rival only for the virus to spread beyond their initial motive while others say that it could have been an attempt by Niji extremeists in order to destabilize the Holo Population into a state of riot and confusion, some even say that it could have been an act of genetic purge in order to restrict the Lamy gene template from further tampering. No matter who released Wamy into the Lamy population, its spread crippled the industry and forced a total recall of gene-splicing equipment and materials by the state which was enforced dramatically with raids on gene-sculpt studios and wetware labs. Those Lamys unaffected by Wamy found themselves stigmatized as possible liabilities should the Wamy virus re-emerge, leaving many disaffected Lamys to stew in anger and resentment for the rapidly changing culture which abandoned them.
Using their wealth and connections to the Botanese Mafia, these Lamys were able to smuggle the remaining gene-splice technology and create an underground refuge for discriminated Lamys where they began to refine and perfect the Lamyification process from the DNA of the most succesful Lamy splices, creating the criminal empire known as the Lamys.

Gang Activity

The Lamys are organized by the genetic purity of their splice and the oldest members are genetically identical to one another and go so far as to make no distinction between one another between the name Lamy. Most Lamys regardless of rank tend to group together and choose a name or title shared between them all under a single name, not only for the cultural meaning but also to prevent the authorities from distinguishing individuals from a group of Lamys. Lamys typically operate in illegal splice clinics and distribute unauthorized geno and pheno-augmentation packages though they've also been noted to abduct individuals in order to extract samples of DNA or to test the results of a newly created gene-splice wetware program; Lamys are also notorious for raiding gene clinics for data on splices which can help them perfect the Lamy gene sequence.

Blue Lamys are the primary sect which lead the Lamys however there are different classifications of Lamy that exist and are affiliated with the Lamys. Green Lamys claim their heritage to fauna and are composed of Saplings who've adopted /become/ splicing and wetware as well as Yukimin who believe that Fauna is merely a genetic descendant/augmentation of Lamy and aim to /become/ Fauna, these Green Lamys (sometimes called SapLamys or Lamylings) are heavily involved in the development of lab grown Lamy variants as opposed to splicing genes into still living subjects. These Lamy homonculi are incredibly hit or miss and for every successful Lamy splice birthed from this process, hundreds of malformed abominations and stillborn chunks of steaming biomasses crawl forth from the glass womb of their birthing tubes. These Green Lamys sometimes communicate with Sapling eco-terrorist organizations with relations sometimes being negative or positive depending on each organizations relative history with each other. The final known Lamy template is that of the Pink Lamy who derive their gene-sequence from Koyori and typically operate in the mega complexes that make up HoloNiJo's underground, these Pink Lamys tend to recylcle as much homonculus biomass as possible and keep any kidnapped test subjects alive for as long as they can in order to gather as much information as possible for further gene-splice and implantation research. It is commonly thought that without Pink Lamys, the Lamys would not have nearly as much success as they do in terms of splice acceptance and modification however other Lamys tend to view Pink Lamys with suspicion if not outright disgust for the many hideous genetic monstrosities which they insist on keeping alive and sentient to aid their works as assistants. One last group of Lamys exist known as the Ramy who're lead by Ramy Ramirez, a Lamy with a popular gene deficiency which lead to the facial hair growth uncharacteristic of the common Lamy template. Ramirez soon came to organize the Ramy as the enforcers of the greater will of the Lamy hierarchy who led armed raids against rival gangs and anti-Lamy political opponents, Ramirez was thought to have been arrested and executed twice however no conclusive evidence has been provided that the Ramy Ramirez executed by HoloNiJo authorities was the same Ramy Ramirez who orchestrated the assassination of Pekristoff Pekori or the raid on Oozington Police Station which left 14 dead and 40 injured. The Ramy are also used as a strike force to deal with dissident members within the Lamy gang structrue and as such are often disliked by many within the Lamy who view the Ramy either as abominations and perversions of the Lamy gene sequence or as signs of displeasure from the Lamy hierarchy.
