An aspiring samurai of the Fujiwara, a small and reclusive clan in the northern region of the Land of Iron. Just like his brothers and sisters, Nobutake had a disciplined upbringing, learning to master martial arts and the values of samurai, like honor, valor, righteousness, and other such virtues. In the matters of martial skills, however, he did not take to the sword as well as the others, finding much better affinity with the bow. He still diligently studied his sword lessons and is quite skilled with it, but not to the degree with the bow, of course.
Once he reached his teens, Nobu would follow the tradition of Fujiwara youth leaving home to experience the world and improve their skill. His first stop was the City of Iron, where he would attend a tournament for other similar youth (which he had no idea what for) and eventually end up on a team to participate in the shinobi exams in the Land of Fire.
While it would be easy to assume him to be a long-range combatant, which he can be, Nobu is actually much better suited in close to mid-range, holding a bow with his left hand and usually nothing in his right, giving him the flexibility to quickly alternate between drawing his bow or switching to his Iai stance. Opponents foolish enough to engage him in close quarters would get struck down by a chakra-enhanced Iaido swing, and opponents who are too slow or keep their distance would get bombarded by powerful chakra-infused shots. When Iaido is unfeasible, usually when his opponent engage him faster than his Iai draw speed, he wields a smaller sword in a reverse grip with his right hand, taking a more defensive style by blocking and evading until he can get a good shot with his bow. He also has some skill in unarmed combat, mostly leg techniques, but they're mostly defensive techniques for when he isn't able to wield a sword. It's not often a problem, but he does have an issue with battlelust. He can hide it well thanks to all the training in manners, but if a fight goes on too long and/or he gets too into it, it's no longer a matter of being fearless or honor; it is simply him finding the fight so thrilling that stopping the fight midway would be demoralizing to him. He would rather get fatally wounded or even die if it meant finding a good conclusion to a battle.
Learning proper etiquette and manners is also crucial to the Fujiwara, considered to be equally important to martial prowess. Nobu was taught to present himself with the honor and dignity that a samurai should, pay proper respects to his seniors and others, learning duty, compassion, honesty... many of the clan become quite polite and eloquent. However, the Fujiwara are old and isolated from the larger world, leading them to be... antiquated. Nobutake is no different from his kin, speaking archaically and confusing even some older folks.
C-Rank: Fascinated by the shinobi world, Nobu hoped to adapt their ninjutsu into his own fighting style without abandoning or making massive changes to his samurai tradition, and after the second exam, he has found his way. As it is a neighboring element of wind, he used his great control and understanding to become proficient with the fire nature. His old fighting styles did not suit with his fire nature very well, so he sparred with his Tadafusa-sensei (and anyone willing he happened to find), until he learned a fighting style that befit his new nature: a wilder and more aggressive approach in combat. Rather than wait for the right moment to deliver the perfect blow, he would make that moment himself, overwhelming his opponents with barrages at range and then quickly following up with an Iai draw. He can still shift to his other style as needed, of course.
