There was the void, freedom and space, everything was so peaceful, then a sudden flash of light and there was no space anymore but the sky. The sensation of falling, burning in the athmosphere at high velocity in the direction of a very strange city. The impact is much less impressive than it would be expected of a meteorite, landing near the port in a bucket of fish. Strange as it may seem falling from the sky would be the calmest happening of that day. The residence with the fishes did not last long, a pair of hands emptied the bucket in a bigger box, wich was then sealed and shook until some mechnical sounds signaled the start of an engine. The low humm of gears was however covered soon by sounds of water and screams. The box shatters, the city is in chaos, people running away from the sounds of water and crashing. A gigantic figure looms over the city, bringing destruction as water swirls around it and follows it from the ocean. Panicked feet scramble on the pile of fish kicking the object into view, and a strange hand picks it up, it's a skeleton, in this state the crystal cannot understand what it's saying but somehow it feels like it was supposed to be funny. After being carried amid the chaos and being thrown from one oddly cheerful skeleton to another a couple of times the last recipient gets crushed under a massive lizardlike foot, the crystal survives with a bit of creaking, the skeleton does not but that does not seem to deter the rest from trying to pick up the crystal again.
The attempt is interrupted by a second giant creature floating in apparently from nowhere, followed by a mass of rubble that it starts to shoot at the other creature. After being gathered in the rubble and shot as well the crystal ends at the feet of an unremarkable looking man, very disheveled and clealy not doing well but somehow not afraid in the slightest. The man takes a deep breath, whinces, and claps his hands generating a shockwave strong enough to send the crystal flying through a couple of buildings and to unbalance the waterclad monster. The building collapses and the confrontation develops outside of the crystal's range of perception, time passes and the chaos subsides. After an indeterminate amout of time the rubble moves, the crystal now slightly cracked is recovered by some hevily armed men wearing pseudo military uniforms, they exchange words between themselves and put the crystal in a transparent containement unit. An armored truck is loaded with the crystal and other assorted rubble, some bone shards from the skeleton, some blood from unkown origin, what looks like a fragment of a claw.
The travel is much smoother than the fish box, but it's still interrupted by gunshots and cackling, a sudden reaction by the guards and the sound of explosions. The truck still does not stop and from the small windows to the outside a a metallic voive resonates in a reassuring tone, while the truck is sent rolling to the side. The doors open and armed men recover the cargo from the truck, simply to move it on some carts for the rest of the road. The city is less destroyed on the route to a very tall tower, while still having clear signs of recen reconstruction. The tower doors open, humans in labcoats start swarming the carts in a chaotic but still organized fashion, the crystal is left on the cart until a creature with obsidian like skin and a multicolored crack where the face should be exitedly spins it around and carries it on a kick scooter to some manner of testing chamber. Before the start of any tests the oddly happy creature seems to comunicate on some device, and a shot time later a very big lizard in a labcoat enters the room in a much calmer fashin than would be expected. The two beings exchnage words and glance at the crystal from time to time, they examine it closely and soon get to testing. The crystal is put under all sorts of pressure, submerged in acid, burned, electrocuted, hit with all sorts of tools, but it remains intact, some of the cracks slightly widening. When the tests are about to move to parahuman means the crystal starts to glow, at first an immense pressure envelpes the room crushing most of the machinery and flattening the living beings, then the pull starts absorbing all inorganic matter in the room, the glass of the testing chamber breaks, the glow gets stronger and expands surrounding the crystal and forming a vaguley humanoid shape. The pressure disappears, the glow subsides, and a strange human is now standing in the remains of the test chamber.
"Mon dieu, it's alive." The lizard says still shook.
"I told you there was something special about that crystal Doc!" Apparently being almost crushed by high gravity did not manage to dampen the enthusiasm of the obsidian creature.
"Quick we need to run more tests, call the containement unit." The lizard orders and the other being quickly moves to the wall.
"No, I don't think I will let you keep experimenting on me." A dark light distorting sphere appears in the hand of the incomplete vessel, the crystal being turns and points the orb at the wall, the orb expands then disappears and the wall is no more.
"It's a singularity!" The cracked face seems brighter as it says that, must be a trick ow the light.
"Singularity, I like that name, I think I will take it. Please do not take it the wrong way, I simply do not appreciate being treated like an object. This world is a mess, and it seems like no one is going to fix it, I may have to do something about it." After this proclamation the newly name creature slowly flies away from the hole it created, ignoring the gunshots being redirected by his gravitational field he simply disappears out of range.
This world is in need of more heroes, but sometimes it's better to not be called one. A name is just that after all, an it's very easy for someone to not be worthy of even that.
