What's stopping this place from becoming like 4/vg/?

The first point is transparency. Moderation on 4Chan may as well be done by intangible spirits. You never see them around and they enforce rules randomly and inconsistently, leading many to believe they play favorites, and you have no way of knowing if they're active participants in the community. Meanwhile, myself and the volunteers I pick are both active players of various gacha games as well as active participants in the generals, thus we are familiar with the issues that plagued 4/vg/, and strongly desire to do our best to prevent those issues from repeating here. If you feel that we have fucked up, you are free to call us out in this thread and we will engage with you in good faith.

The second point is poster IDs. While some dislike them, I believe they're a necessary evil that does a good job in preventing low effort samefagging while also allowing users to self moderate innocuous shitposting they don't want to see, allowing us to take a more hands off approach, needing only to step in when something gets out of hand or is clearly unwanted by a general. That second point is key, and is the reason that our rules on paper are extremely lax. Every gacha general has it's own culture, and things that users find acceptable in one may be considered a nuisance in another.

What's the difference between funposting and excessive shitposting?

The intent of the poster. When receiving reports for bait and shitposting, rather than determine this in a vacuum based on the reported post we can look at the users post history. Someone who has a post history with no meaningful contributions to the board will be dealt with. Such posters usually have no post history at all beyond joining the board and immediately baiting and shitposting, so they're rather easy to spot. Salesposting is banned as per the board rules and is marked "kill on sight" because it too easily derails threads and leads to doomposting and cross thread wars. Things like Reddit and Twitter screencaps are in a similar camp simply for being low effort and worn out. Repeatedly inciting thread wars or gacha wars is also not welcome. In short, if you're gonna shitpost, have some creativity with it instead of resorting to the same old tactics that everyone is tired of seeing.

Porn; what is okay, and what isn't

First of all, NSFW on this board is defined as any content that shows nudity or depicts explicit sexual actions. If you are not sure on whether or not something counts as NSFW, err on the side of caution and spoiler it. Ask yourself "would I show this to my mom?". If you post NSFW material unspoilered, you will be given a warning.
Outside of spoilering your porn, there aren't many hard rules on what is allowed. Fetishes such as scat and gore are not allowed. Blatant cuckposting is not allowed. Zoophilia art is the same. Furry porn will be a case by case basis that is decided by depending on whether it is on topic to the thread (as in it features characters from the game), properly spoilered, is not being used to flood the thread, and does not become a nuisance by any other means. Things like this are where this thread comes in. You guys are not used to having moderation that actually talks to you. If you see something that you believe is becoming a problem, then tell us. The ultimate goal is to create a place where people can have discussions without becoming Reddit 2.0.

How will bans be handled?

As I've expressed, I want to leave posters to self moderate as much as possible. Board moderators should ideally only step in to deal with obvious issues that could lead to the same problems that 4/vg/ faced. We are janitors, our job is to clean up shit, not rule with an iron fist. We will not go for bans outside of exceptional circumstances, such as dealing with serial shitposters that have ignored warnings, obvious ban evaders, or content that breaks global rules. We will however step into threads that have been derailed and deal with the cause. There are people here that want to discuss their favorite games and share art with others, and allowing threads to get derailed too much is a fast way to return to the state of 4/vg/.
