Hifumi
Disclaimer:I'm still not fully caught-up, so I might not get the situation perfectly, especially with new characters.
Who are you rooming with? How well do you get along?
I'll list those, who I think might be more interesting. I'll assume the dorms are gender separated:
-Bobby:
They'd get along great, at least initially. For both of them, moving to the dorms is probably an upgrade over their current living conditions. There might be some arguments while they're getting used to it, but once those get cleared up, it'll be smooth sailing. I think when it comes to how the room ends up looking, it'd end up with it feeling a bit too big for them. A reliable pick, if a bit boring.
-Inigo:
As opposed to Bobby, Inigo is used to living in better conditions and away from his family, so Hifumi might look up to him in that regard. It'll probably affect how his side of the room looks as a result. Much less unused space, and more decorations. I think they might clash a bit about the schedule because Hifumi is a morning person, and Inigo seems like he'd want to stay up late.
-Chris:
Another one that seems like he'd stay up late, but a desk lamp and sound of scribbling would be easier to ignore than the flickering lights of VNs and explosion sounds from Mecha Core. Hifumi, as the older one, might feel like he should act as a big brother, drag him to work out with him, make sure he does his chores etc, which might annoy Chris. But, he'll also come to Chris for help when it comes to studying, to consult about Quirks and for Hero/Villain trivia, so it's not just one-sided. If Chris does get interested in photography, then I think Hifumi would also pick up that habit. I think it'd be a good chance for them to grow closer, and a good influence on both of them. Hifumi's grades would probably rise (this might be one of the few paths where Hifumi ends up going to uni), and it'll help develop his strategical skills; on Chris's side it might help him grow a bit more open, and continue developing his swordsmanship.
-Junichi:
This time, rather than a big brother, Hifumi would feel like she should act as Junichi's guide to Shiketsu. Expect lots of attempts at showing Junichi the school and the nearby area, probably to Junichi's annoyance. Probably not the only way he'd annoy Joon. Expect cringy quotes about how them meeting like that must be fate, and getting Junichi to train with him. Junichi also seems like one that'd want to get up late, so that's another point of contention. I think this might be the possible roommate where there'd be the most arguments. Also one, where Hifumi's room ends up looking the least orderly.
-Imai:
Living with a mind-reader might feel awkward, but it's not like they haven't hung out before. I feel like it'd be a polite relationship, but not a very close one. Hifumi might try to get closer to Imai, possibly getting him to train with him more, or trying to learn to play an instrument. Room wise, this is probably the option in which Hifumi's side ends up looking the most minimalistic.
-Ian
I haven't read the "Introduction" yet, sorry, I'm getting there. So, I might be contradicting stuff here, please correct me if I do, but I think this one could be interesting. Because of the situation with Sandy, this is someone Hifumi would feel wary of growing close to, at least initially. On Ian's side too, people seeing him getting close to someone who was close with Sandy might lead them to believe this is all just a part of the job for him. I think they can grow past that, and open up to each other in time, which would be good for both of them. For Ian, it would be a way to integrate with the class more; for Hifumi, it would be a way to deal with his feelings about the Sandy situation. I don't know that much about him personality-wise yet, to discuss their hobbies, but maybe Hifumi could get him into old movies? I think they could train together, with a bit of a "speedster vs teleporter" rivalry, racing along different routes and complaining that it favoured one or the other more. Having to report his coming and goings to Ian, would probably irritate Hifumi a bit, especially initially, but he'd understand if it gets explained. He won't stop his trips, but he'll leave messages that he's going out and where (or at least a general direction). I think it'd end up with Hifumi's side of the room being the most self-expressive about him, while still keeping some sort of balance.
-Hiro:
This will be extra awkward in the beginning, possibly even more than with Ian. Hifumi would feel at least partially responsible for what happened to Hiro. That he didn't notice, or ignored, the signs of what was going on with Sandatsu. That he wasn't able to prevent the tragedy from happening. Having to see the results of that so often in Hiro's disability, would get him down terribly. However, I think Hiro might help him get over that. Explain that it wasn't his fault, and that none of them noticed, that it's important how they move forward from there. In a sort of reverse of the Chris situation, I think here Hifumi would look up to Hiro as the big brother. He'd admire his resilience and smarts, and go ask for advice often. I think this is also one of the few paths where Hifumi might want to go to uni. He'd also probably try to help out Hiro whenever he can, whether just to deal around his limited mobility, or to help him with his projects. This is probably the quickest way for Hifumi to accept an "enhancement" offer from Hiro. Overdose is probably also the perfect person for Hifumi to discuss what happened to him when he took Trigger, and deal with that too. I think when it comes to how the room would look, it wouldn't be minimalistic, but it would be utilitarian. Rather than decorations, there'd be plenty of stuff for school, hero equipment and tools to deal with that. Hiro's example would serve to refocus Hifumi; but maybe the other way around, it would help Hiro to look to something besides his need for revenge.
tl;dr:
I think the most interesting would be either Chris, Ian or Hiro.
How do you feel about the change to a mandatory dormitory?
Looking forward to it. Living apart from his family is another step on his journey to adulthood. The dorms themselves are an upgrade to his living conditions. If he wasn't using time to commute to work on his cardio, it'd save him some time, but he'll use it to go jogging anyway. Since he won't have a clear destination, he might just use it to go exploring and get extra familiar with the area. Having his friends close will be a plus, but he gets why some of them might be against it. He'll miss his family and neighbours, so he'll probably go to visit them often.
How are you as a roommate?
Overall, decent. He doesn't snore much, keeps his area clean and doesn't have any issue with chores. Although, he'll pick up on some habits of his roommate, and it'll affect how his side of the room ends up looking. It can range from him just transplanting how he used to live and leaving a lot of space underutilized, to plastering the walls with movie posters and shelves full of bootleg merchandise and keepsakes. He doesn't spend that much time in the room itself, but he might annoy you by wanting to hang out. If you forgot something at school, or want a glass of water at night and don't feel like walking there, you can ask Hifumi, and he'll quickly Blink there to get what you need. The biggest issue is probably that he gets up at 5am every day except Sunday (that's when he catches back up on sleep). If you like to sleep late, you'll hate his alarm clock, but you might get him to not open the curtains first thing in the morning.
Do you have any rules for your new roommate? What behavior from them would annoy you?
He's not used to setting the rules, so he won't form any unless some issue first arises. If you keep your side of the room clean and don't interrupt his sleep much, he probably won't complain. He probably won't even mind much if you use his stuff without asking because he's somewhat used to it, as long as it's not his toothbrush or something he needed at the time, and you return it in good condition. Them avoiding Hifumi and refusing to hang out from time to time, would bother him.
