Dungeon Renovation ch5-1: A Promise With Fiona!

p1

There's a crack here too, so be careful.
Woah, you're right. Thanks.

A pitch black maze and a giant man-eating gecko.
And even if you clear that, the next floor has a field of poisonous plants with the power to regenerate.

Never mind having a bad personality. This is just brutish.
Brutish?

p3

By the way, the monsters we defeated won't come back to life, will they?
Let's see... Normally they well up one after another.

Eh... For real?
But the especially strong monsters won't come back, so you won't need to worry!

Ah~ Thank goodness! It ain't a boss if it's not one-of-a-kind.
Gyah!
Ora!
Gweeh
On the flip side, they're really hard to beat...
...at least, they should be.
Normally...

p4

To be honest, I think having to do deal with infinitely spawning weaklings would be more of a pain~
Eeh...?
Then let's pray we won't have to fight them directly!

Uwah...
Woah... What's going on here?

p5

Anything goes in this dungeon, huh?
Hmm~ I suppose.
But...
even though it's pretty, there's probably...

no, definitely something in the water.

p6

Does your store have any boats...?
Kind of, but they'd be sunk in no time flat.
All we have are inflatable boats.
Then... do we just proceed as we are?

As if.
It'll take some time, but I've got an easy and surefire method to get us across.
Eh?

We're gonna remove all the water from this floor!

Eeeeeh~??

p7

E-Eeeh...?
Are you serious?
We conveniently have somewhere to dump all the water down below, after all.

Ain't no way I'm dealing with a water level.

It feels like every time we reach the next floor, we end up coming straight back here~

There was nothing on the ceiling, right?
Yes, I think we're safe there.
Then it's gotta be underwater.

p8

What if a fishman wielding a trident comes out...
There's also a chance the water is coming in from somewhere,
but I guess all we can do is try out what we can.

We can reuse the generators from the gecko room,

so let's get a new pump, some pressure-resistant hoses and some rope, I guess.

The only problem is the lifting pipe of the pump and throwing it in... It's about 20-30 meters from the door to the water.

p9

You take care of the throwing, Fiona.
Me?

You chucked that drum can into that gecko, right?
Just do it like that again!
A-Alright, I'll try!

We'll tie some rope to the pump and tightly secure the hose with some bands so it doesn't come loose.

We'll use couplers on the hoses to stretch them out to about 500m.

p10

To compensate for the short electric cables, we'll tie together some extension cables and use corking material to fill in the gaps.
And then we'll wrap it up tightly with waterproof tape.
With this, we're all set!

For starters, we simply need to reach the water, so throw it with all your might.
Leave it to me!

p12

Alright!
Nice one!

The real issue is the lifting height.
This pump isn't that strong when it comes to sucking up water.

But the hose leads to the gecko room about 100m downstairs.

With these conditions, so long as it can suck up enough water to fill up the hose even once,
Liquid fills up the pipe.
Liquid goes up the hose.
Flows downwards.
The power of science is amazing!
the water will keep on flowing even without the pump's power... supposedly.
I think it was called the "siphon theory" or something?

p13

In other words, we start by sucking up water from the shallow depth,
and once the water gets flowing through the hose, we can move the pump deeper.
Oh, here it comes!

It's flowing properly.
Are we done?
We should make a few more of the same thing.
Gotta increase efficiency and all that.

p14

That should do it.
All that's left is to wait.

We'll have to check if it's working properly, after all.
I've brought some lunch, so let's eat here, shall we?
It's mostly frozen food, though.
We can escape quickly if we eat by the door.
Alright! Do you have those "onigiri" things?

Thanks for the food!

p15

Amazing... So much time has passed yet it's still warm.
Ah~ I guess that would be more convenient comparted to this world.

In this world...

...Hey.
There's something I've been meaning to ask you.
Hm?

Do you
want to go back to the world you came from, Maho?
