SPACE

The disastrous event that rocked the original world had passed, and an emigration to a never before seen scale has gone on to the final frontier, space! The old Republic had done such preparations that allowed for a significant amount of emigres to exit quickly and safely, and onwards these colonists went to the winter world of Laska, aided by the recently developed lightning drive, an important tool in space travel.
Laska was cold and miserable, but it still allowed for life, and so it was chosen to be the arrival zone of the now tired colonizers. Under order of the Survival Commitee, Laska was to be turned and developed into a fortress and industrial world, one that would serve as a base for further conquest of space, the colonizers quickly got to work, Laska was quickly populated with nuclear reactors, underground farming facilities, and many cities.
Upon the pacification of Laska, there would be no sense to stopping there, the conquest of space would wait for no one, the building of the space fleet would quickly commence, the Proto Class battleships being the largest symbol of this project.

Today, the main fleet consists of screen ships such as heavy destroyers and large cruisers, with Carriers and Battleships acting as the capital ships and symbols of power, the omnipurpose variable fighter being the main force used by the carriers, railguns, and heavy kinetic weaponry is the weapon of choice, more specialized ships however, have less standarized weaponry such as lasers and particle beams, their immense power requirements however, mean that their usage is limited.
The world of Laska itself is home to highly developed artillery systems, and strong and imposing defensive systems, with missiles and cannons that can shoot up into space to aid in the defense of Laska.

The Omnipurpose Variable Fighter is a specific weapon meant for both space and atmospheric combat, meant to be used by the carriers, they are expensive, but very much worth it, they have proven to be an important symbol of the power of the fleet, and of the air force, as their daring pilots take on dangerous missions for the sake of the people, they are subject of propaganda films.
